A while back I mentioned my 91
year old grandma wanted to get a Wii.
Before having her go buy one, we offered to let her borrow ours to see
if she would even like it. JJ went and
hooked it up about a month ago and showed her how to use it. I talked to her on the phone last week and
asked her what she thought of it. She
said “oh honey, I had to take it down.
All the cords were driving me crazy!”
My grandma has a fireplace in the corner of her living room and a cutout
above for her TV. So when JJ hooked up
the Wii, there was no place to hide all the cords and I guess she didn’t like
that. So what did she do instead? She went out and bought an ePad. Yes, an ePad.
Haha, isn’t that funny? That’s
what she thinks they’re called. Such a
cute grandma…And she loves that damn thing!
Now she can play her An.gry Bi.rds and all sorts of games on there. I think it’s great that she wants to stimulate
her mind and do things other than just sit at home and watch TV. Since she now has the internet, I told her I
would come over one weekend and set up an email account for her so I can send
her pictures of Chloe. I know she will
love that because she is always asking me for pictures. Next thing you know, she’ll be on FB!
I’m excited for a bloggy meet up
this weekend! Rachel over at Sillyness Abounds went to the same RE as me. We
found each other when we were both going through treatments and now our
daughters are just 5 days apart! We live
about 15 minutes from each other, so I’m very excited to finally meet her and
her beautiful little girl.
One thing that I asked the
doctor about on Tuesday was Chloe’s little toes. They have always been a little bent, but I
really didn’t think much of it. I
decided to ask the doctor, but I was just sure he would brush it off as
something she would grow out of. To my
surprise, he actually spent some time talking to us about them. There is something called a floppy toe and
you can have surgery to correct it. I
kind of freaked out when he mentioned surgery, but he said her case is so mild,
he does not see her needing it. At first
we thought they would go in and break the toe and reset it, but they actually
release tendons to straighten out the toe.
Makes sense. Surgeons won’t even
touch a kid until they are 2 ½ or 3, but he did say they are more likely to fix
the little toes rather than middle toes because little toes may cause more
balance issues. So long story short, she’s
fine, but I was just surprised that he didn’t brush it off.
Do any of you follow S.I.F.? She caused a bit of an uproar in a post she
wrote about IVF last week. I feel so bad
for her because I really don’t think she intended to hurt anyone. She was just putting her feelings out there
about herself. No one else. But apparently she upset many of her readers
and even one of her IRL friends. She’s done her best to try and make things
right, but it just makes me wonder if she should have even written that
post. Was she in the wrong? It’s her blog. She’s been through IVF twice so it’s not like
she has no merit on the subject. But I
think the damage she’s done to some relationships far outweighs what she got out
of writing that post.
Your grandma sounds adorable! She will be blogging before you know it! Lol
ReplyDeleteI love that your grandma got an ipad- how awesome is that! And I had never heard about the toe situation but good for you for bringing it up!
ReplyDeleteYour grandma is so with the times. Even I don't own an ePad. Hee hee!!
ReplyDeleteI think Chloe's toes are adorable.
that's too funny about your grandma!! kyle's grandma is on facebook and anytime she comments on anything it always makes me laugh!!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of that toe thing before. adelyn's toe are always curled. i will def be asking the dr about this at her 9mo appt!
Cant wait for our playdate!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma barely knows how to use her cell phone. I'm surprised she even has one! That's so exciting to meet an actual blogger in real life. There are so many that I would love to meet but sadly they don't live anywhere near me. I've never heard of the toe thing either. I'll have to check out that post about IVF. I know that's a sensitive subject. Sometimes I feel like things I post might offend people and sometimes they do but I love expressing my opinion.
ReplyDeleteHm...I only read SIF sporadically, but I gotta say, it's her space, and her place to write what she's feeling. She wrote the disclaimer of how her truth is not everyone else's truth and she wasn't judging anyone else for their decisions. Others possibly being hurt doesn't mean she should have to censor her own writing about her own feelings in her own personal blog. Just my opinion....
ReplyDelete(I guess I'd compare it to accusing a family member who was molesting you...sure it hurts a lot of other people, but is it worth it to keep your thoughts and feelings in to make sure you don't hurt others? Diff subject, but just food for thought)
