Day 6- caves and chaos in KL

the very well-preserved cave...
the buddha stature.
I think I didn't mention in the entry...but qz got almost got bitten by the snake
going up further
qz meditating
paranoma view of the 1st cave...
oppss.....trex guarding the dog...an interesting point to note, the dogs at the temple are all handicapped in some ways...
at the bottom of the cave
the nasi lemak auntie

Breakfast was eaten at this makeshift store. Nasi lemak...tsk tsk...I quite enjoy the mutton. haha...very very tender. Went back to the chalet, packed up and we waited for the van that was supposed to bring us to the cave. At the point of writing, I have forgotten the name of the cave! hahaha....really sorry lah...

this cave houses a buddha looking sculpture. A monk lives at the temple below the cave. It's a really tranquil place for meditation. Very very authentic in its way. There's 2 caves actually. THe one on the left houses a couple of snakes and monkeys. Nothing much. The right one houses quite a few buddhist sculptures, a lot of bats. It's more well preserved I must say....it's the only cave I have seen all my life whose limestone don't have algae and funny looking things on it....It's really dark. Thus, not much photos...

Subsequently, we are supposed to go to a waterfall called Pantai Waterfall. Damn! It was closed for maintenance! So the van driver drove us to kuantan instead. We had lunch @ Mac. Then waited for our 4pm bus to KL. Then, I was still pondering to go back sg or stay with them for the rest of the trip. *SIGH* YOu see, I have spanish lessons the next day and I really didn't want to miss 2 lessons in a row. Oh well...due to the obscene amount of peer pressure, I made that decision to stay lah. I can't say no to travelling and with qz forever telling me how much fun I will miss....F*** spanish lah...hahaha

The coach ride was good!!! 4 hours ride. Hahaha...it comes with a tv in front. The driver played huo yuan jia on the vcd player. It's quite awkward considering half the bus is made up of malays. *sianz* for most of the ride our dearest qz was making a "yi lu xiang bei" mtv. ahhaha.... We finally reached KL at about 7+ to 8. Really hungry. But first thing first. Accomodation. We actually wanted to go for one that is recommended by lonely planet. Goodness, it looked like shit from the outside. So we decided to give this pamphlet a chance and we went to this place called backpackers travellers inn. It's beside swiss inn at chinatown. Damn good. The reception has AIRCON!!!! hahaha...even better...we got ourselves a dorm with aircon at rm$10 each. It's damn cheap can!?!?! the unfortunate thing is that we have to share the dorm with 2 other strangers. But it's okie lah...eventually, I still made friends with one them. Oh oh...it's a double decker bed!!! First time I sleep at the top...but it's really shaky lah...kns...

after settling down, we went downstairs for claypot rice and ikan bakar (sambal stingray). Walked a bit around chinatown. It was about 1030 when we finally decided to go back to the hostel. The guys stayed at the reception area to watch a movie while jilei and I went up to bathe. I stayed to look after her stuff and that was when I got to know this welsh guy who was sharing the dorm with us. I like his way of life. Travel till he is broke, then go back to wales to work for a year or 2. Then travel again...hahaha....I like the way he leads his life....too bad, I am very asian at heart. I can't leave my parents like that. They deserve better for putting me through school and having to tolerate all my nonsense for the past 22 years...

Day 5- Cherating Beach aka Paradise!

On the bus Kuala Terranganu- Cherating
Lunch lunch LUNCH!!!!
Our Chalet. I quite like the decor lah...but I hate the bed....
The beach. The shore line thigh-deep for at least 500m
Mission 1: bury qz..
wahahaha.....I have finally subdued qz!!!

Mission 1: Saving NEMO!!!!!

No seafood tonight! It's Italian...
I totally love our next destination, Cherating!!! It's 3/4 way between Kuala Terranganu and Kuantan.
Cherating is only for the slackers and nua-ers. Perehentian for the poseurs. Took us about 3 hours to get there. The bus dropped us at a bus stop off the main road and we walked in. Marched past this place called "The shadow of the moon at half past 4". It's a bar-cum-lodging place. Would have loved to stay there but it's a little too far from the beach. When we were there, it's not the tourist season yet. Basically, it's quite a dead place. Other than a group of angmohs, we are probably the only other group of tourists in that town. We probably took like one hour to find a good place to stay. Hahaha...we are tired of shabby places BUT WE WANT CHEAP BEDS TOO! wahahaha...finally settled down at this resort called Riverside Resort. It's newly renovated, cost us about rm$40 for a double room. It looks good lah...hehe.. but that night, I got bitten by those weird creatures of the night damn badly. Yes, they left a lot of scars on my body.
We washed up a bit, hang our clothes out to dry and went to the beach!!! THE BEACH WAS AWESOME. (though the sand is not white like perehentian) It's shoreline just never ends. Probably have to walk out like 1km before you will be totally submerged. hahaha.... the guys walked out pretty far, while jilei and I settled down on this sand bay. When the guys came to join us, we found little NEMO and the civil engineer among us got all the banglahs to work by digging a canal for litttle NEMO to swim back to sea. hahaha....damn ridiculous. Then there's of cos burying qz, that civil engineer shitting & whole lot of nonsense with the sand. wahahah....it was really hilarious when jilei tried to toppled qz into the sea...hahaha....cmi...if you ever want to topple someone...please don't tell to climb on top of that person...Rocking the base aka the legs is the surest method... it started to rain after an hour or so, we went back to the chalet to wash up, EXCEPT JOHN. That dirty boy. After that, we went over to this travel operator and booked ourselves 2 tours. A firefly cruise at night and a trip to a cave and waterfall the next day. Subsequently, it's nearly dinner time!! YEAH!!! TONIGHT WE WENT ITALIAN!!!! 4 plates or pastas, a pizza and a lot of mossie bites later, we were all ready for our firefly cruise. Damn fun!! It wasn't really about the fireflies. It got a boring after a while. hahaha...then they started to bombard the guide with questions like why he refused to let us go near certain spots with lotsa fireflies. SO there's those yellow and black mangrove snakes lurking around. We saw a couple of them after he pointed them out to us....hahaha...towards the returning part of the trip, weizhi and qz impressed us with their knowledge of astronomy. Haha..yeah, it's a clear night. We saw a shooting star too!!! oh well, I must say, I enjoyed cherating the most so far...it's really relaxing and very fun.
