Day 4- Got Stucked in Terranganu

Weizhi trying to act-pro

From this picture, it's damn obvious I am new to the game...

Qz was damn stressed the entire noon...hahaha...too much thinking involved...

@ Kuala Terranganu's Chinatown...

Overeating again....it's breakfast by the way. We skipped lunch after this guilty meal...

Yes! We got stucked!!!!! We couldn't get any bus tickets out of Terranganu to Kuantan at all. Damn diao... Plan B. Kill Ourselves. Plan C. Nua-ed around. Of cos, we not so silly to kill ourselves there...=PpPp Yes, so we spent the entire morning walking around chinatown and looking for ways to get to Pulau Duyong. After which, they left me at an internet shop so that I could update the 1st 2 days of the trip. They spent the entire noon, trying to outwit each other in bridge. hahaha....

At night, we went to this really shady-cum-illegal looking place to play pool....It's just one of those rare times, I was game to play pool. Otherwise, it's a bit boring. Oh!!! I must add....I BEAT JOHN IN THE GAME!!! =PpPp

Day 3- Packing up, leaving for terranganu

see the sharp contrast!! From chopsticks to hands....hahaha...

Alwyn!!! FOR YOU!!!!

preparing to shit...

it's quite a pathetic lunch...oh well...what to do...

Fatimah's Chalet behind us!

Osama just caught NTU's brainest guy!!!!!!

Somehow jilei has this thing with anything smaller than 3 years old....they just love her...

Still trying to be the asshole..

Breakfast @ D'lagoon

Packing up!

oH.....the lovely beach...

I thought I would be able to see the sunrise in the morning. Shit! I got my directions wrong...sianz...but it was still quite cool waking up at dawn in the beach. It's just a different sort of feel. Breakfast was lousy. Period. We continued our "asshole taidee" the entire morning. Yes, we won't there for a holiday, but to make a fool out of each other. *faintz* We boarded our boat for mainland Kuala Besut at about 12pm. From there, we found our way to a "bus-stop". Unlike sg, Malaysia rarely have a decent bus-stop. The directions that we have got from the locals was,"The bridge that lead to Kuala Terranganu. Wait there, S.K Bony (bus brand) will take you to Kuala Terranganu." hahaha...my 1st question was, how many bridges they have in this town??? =P Then came another bomb. The bus comes on a very irregular timing. Sometimes 1 hour, sometimes 2 hours. By that time, it was lunch time. Hungry...Luckily, there were 2 people at the "bus-stop" So qz and jilei went to get lunch, while the rest of us kept a lookout for the bus. Phew, 5 minutes later, we caught sight of the bus rambling its way towards us. Lunch-on-the-go. And silly us....we only had like 1/2 bottle of nalgene to last 5 of us for a 3 hours ride to Kuala Terranganu. Terranganu is really clean beyond my wildest expectations. I mean, it's an opposition state leh...the streets really super clean and my first time seeing a library in malaysia? It's way nicer than our normal in bedok or jurong east. It's a glass-windowed library. Damn neat right??? We reached the bus terminal right at about 3.30 or so. Tired, thirsty. We still had to navigate our way to Ping Anchorage to seek lodging. We couldn't identify the road we were at. So I approached this 14/15 year old kid. " Hi! Do you know where am I?" (I put our my lonely planet map to him) " Kuala Terranganu" wahahahaha.....it was damn funny because I handed him my book leh!!! I had to specifically get his attention and look at my map properly. hahaha...think he was damn embarrassed with his initial answer also...hahaha Found Ping anchorage soon after. It was city. It is rgenerally okie. Just stuffy and the fan far too slowly. Left our bags there and went to explore this relatively small city. Our found a shopping centre. Not very enticing. Except for the milk section of the supermarket. We spent sometime there debating how to prepare our body to shit after so many days. hahaha... Yes, day 4 and Ping Anchorage has the cleanest toilet. hahaha...Yakult & Yogurt are good bets lah... after downing those drinks, we walked further uptown to look for seafood. Meals at Perehentian was to some extent, lousy. *wicked grin* we ordered crabs, prawns, tofu, vege, dong fen and fried rice. Alwyn, we have a video for you!!!! After that super sumptous dinner, we continued walking around town. Nothing much though..

Day 2- continued

Wrapped up in sleeping bags or mosquitoe net (JOHN). Getting ready to sleep...

@Turtle Beach snorkelling-cum-picnic

*speechless*

As I was saying, the "asshole-taidee" is incredibly nonsensical. QZ and I was losing like almost the entire night. Freaking hell.... The prime of the night wasn't really the tai-dee. It was the moonlight. It was damn nice lah....I think we have a couple of pictures in all our cameras. This one I posted was taken by john. I have quite a shaky hand lah...so can't take pictures which needed a longer exposure time. after going through 8 days of backpack in Malaysia, I think the night at cherating was the best. Although we slept in the laundry area on the floor, it was the only night I didn't get strange bites on my body.

Day 2- Perehentian Islands

SEE!!!! CLEAR and SHALLOW WATER LEH....
This thing isn't afraid of human beings at all.
@ Long beach
sunrise!!!! on the speedboat to perehentian...
D'lagoon at our backs!
Freaking deprived urban kids who haven't seen a treehouse all our lives...
It's another early day. WOke up at 5am...tsk....in singapore we also not so hardworking during exams...hehe.... A cab took us to Kuala Besut to catch a ferry to Perehentian Island. Aiyo, seriously expensive. We have to pay RM$60 for the return ferry tickets, RM$5 for park fees?!??? and they claim the water not deep enough for the speed boat to enter, so water taxi another RM$2 per pax. Argh.... It is incredibly crappy to pay so much loh... THe worse is we have to pay an extra $5 per pax 'cos we alighted at the wrong island. Yes, at first we thought our intended place of lodging is at long beach....but nope, D'lagoon Resort is at a more ulu spot. We wanted to get a chalet for this island trip. However, it was fully booked. So no choice, have to sleep in dormitory again. It's filled with angmohs. Didn't take any picture as we, ourselves didn't sleep in the dormitory at the end of the day as it was way too hot. Got our sleep bags and slept at the laundry area instead. hehe.... THe later part of the morning, we trekked to another more ulu beach about 10 minutes away. The place is really a wow....WHITE SAND, THE SUN, CLEAR WATERS!!!! I wished I was born on that island instead. hahaha....Seriously, this is life!!!!! I was having my menses, so didn't try to snorkel with them. Read my book, took pictures for them blah blah...we had a picnic lunch at the beach. We heard that food at the islands isn't cheap, so we bought our own food and water supply along. Noon was spent playing heart attack. Wah seh, they really treated me like public enemy number 1. WTF!!! Just because I have a faster reaction...kns....the worse is that they openly planned and plot how to trap me so that I will get hit and shuffle cards.... Towards evening, the guys snorkelled for a little while more. Then washed up, dinner at the D'lagoon Cafe and we continued with our card game all the way till 10.30...hahaha this time asshole-taidee...tell you more about it next time... the net here is freaking screwed.....*sigh* okie lah...my internet time is almost up! have to go!!!

day1-OFF TO KOTA BAHRU!!!!!

don't our room resembles those construction workers quarters? hahahaha
the roadside chendol
The Malay Arts Village Entrance
Outside a palace.
hahaha....I thought Mr Cheeseburger is really cute!!!
waiting for the local bus outside the airport

Damn anxious to board the plane. It's free-seating. That explains the kiasu-ism..hehe

ohhh...john is damn afraid of taking planes....*open secret* shhhhhh....

Initially, I had a lot of reservations coming on this trip because I looked incredibly malay and the eastern coast is mostly made up of the more conservative malays living under the rule of the opposition. I read before about these places having cultural police around and stuff. Basically, it didn't look very safe place to be. Purposely bought my buff along, just in case. *wink* we all barely had like 3 hours of sleep before we had to board cabs and daddys' car to go to woodlands and head for the airport. THose freaking taxi drivers just love to ku-to us, the tourists. Assholes.... The Airasia flight took us direct to Kota Bahru. We reached there at like 8.30am. hahaha....We decide not to be spoilt brats and went looking for the local bus-stop to get us to the city itself. Kota Bahru was way above our expectations. We expected it to be every bit more backward then JB. Nope it isn't. It has clean streets and back alleys okie!!!! It's really much safer being here than in any other place in Malaysia. You know, you won't feel like every pair of eyes is looking at you when you walk along the streets. We took shelter at this place called Ideal Traveller's Lodge. Recommended by lonely planet. We stayed in a dormitory. Cost us RM$8 per bed. It looks a little dirty for my liking. But I chose to stay quiet about it. hmm....and guess what, that very night, John had some bugs on his bed. He's got bitten all over. Eeks!!!! Yes, those whatevers crawled into her berms at night and bite his butt. hahahaha....damn funny when he told us about it this morning. The entire day was spent walking around the the town. Let's see, we visited almost every attractions on foot. Central market, arts village, MACDONALDS and a couple of places. There isn't really much to see as we didn't want to spend money to visit muesums and such. Oh well..hehe...We thought kota bahru is an arts hub. It isn't that arty farty...songkets shops, kite shops batik shops.... Dinner was pretty alright bah...we had a lot....ALWYN, DON'T BE JEALOUS. WE REMEMBERED YOU!!!! Had Bak Kut Teh, muah chee, spring rolls, desserts and those people even had space for watermelon @ supper. TSK!! hahaha....and suprisingly, we have no qualms dining at road side stalls, meaning, we had chendol, ching chow etc too. hahaha....really courting stomachaches. But somehow, a trip won't be fun if you don't try.
