This post is going to be dedicated to my favorite Christmas present... But I will get back to that in a little bit. Blake and I are in Texas, and have been since the 23rd. If you are in Texas as well you know that it is about 75 degrees outside and feels NOTHING like Christmas. There are also other factors that play into the fact that this year has not really felt "like Christmas." It has been great getting to spend time with my family and our friends, which is the only thing that has made it feel like the holidays. It just seems weird to not really care about presents anymore... Weird but good. Don't get me wrong I still really love getting presents but I guess I am FINALLY realizing that Christmas is not all about presents. In fact it is nothing about presents and everything about Christ and what He means. Christmas is not about presents anymore but... I will return to the initial reason for creating this post. My favorite present...
You might think it would be any of the new clothes I got, or the sweet Northface down coat I got from Blake (Close 2nd), or the adorable stuffed polar bear I got from Blake's parents. But no, in fact it is none of those things. Most of you will probably think that it is the silliest of any present I got but it is MY favorite. Blake's sister Emily got me a Gryffindor scarf, just like the one that they used in the 3rd movie!!! When I opened it up I was so excited I almost started crying! I know it sounds silly but I was not expecting it at all.
This long blog was written all to say that my favorite Christmas present this year was a maroon and gold scarf and, it is too hot in Texas to even think about wearing it! Thanks for the scarf Em!

Too Busy, too bored
Sometimes it seems like I'm either firing on all cylinders, running wide-open. OR, I'm bored. It's hard to make sense of it, but I feel most alive when I'm doing that race car thing. By the way, I saw this thing about "drifting" on Discovery Theater HD, and I'm thinking about tricking out Moriah's Cavalier and trying it out. Thank you for not skipping this paragraph.
This post is an amendment and explanation to Moriah's last post. As you can see in the photo of the happy couple, my left hand is located in the upper-hip region of Moriah's side. You will notice the excess hair matted on the top of that hand. This is messed up. My arms are seriously hairy and I don't know why. Fortunately, I have not started to wear gloves indoors. Coming up, read a funny story.
So what's the deal with pubes getting everywhere.
I remember when I was in the dorm living with my good friend Jeff. We didn't exactly vacuum, but we kept the place pretty tidy. Well, the floor was a different matter. Drop a sweater on the floor, and you were making a trip to the drycleaners. Pubes were everywhere, along with other types of hair from various cracks and crevices on the body.
Apparently things haven't changed, but the stakes are a bit higher now. The other day I was in the state capitol interviewing my good friend Phil Bredesen. Actually, we're not friends and I wasn't interviewing him, but I did have my mic in his face and he was answering my question and looking me in the eyeball. Fortunately he wasn't looking at the windscreen on my mic. That little foam ball had a pube sticking straight up out of it like it had been sewn into it.
Now I de-pube the screen before any interview, even with homeless people.
Love life, love your wife. Merry Christmas

This is just a picture of Blake and me after we went for a run on a super cold night... Our dinky, but beautiful, Christmas tree is in the background. Don't worry I'm going to be submitting another SUPER interesting post tomorrow. I have plenty of time to do it at work... but I just don't want to get caught ;-) Until tomorrow!

Storm=Lazy
It is raining in Nashville and Blake and I are watching the CMAs on television. I know it sounds like a boring night but it really isn't. Brooks and Dunn are hosting the show tonight and believe it or not I actually met Kix Brooks last week! (Kix is not his real name) He came in to the office to get his teeth cleaned. I don't think I should have said that because I am pretty sure that I just violated some sort of privacy law. Oh well! It was nice to finally see a famous person. I have lived in Nashville for almost 6 months, not including last summer, and had never seen a famous person of any sort. Needless to say... it is about time! Work is going really well but I have been dreaming about teeth since I started working there and the dreams are not good dreams. I usually wake up thinking that I have lost all my teeth or they have turned to some sort of gummy substance. Last night I had a dream that Brad Paisley came into the office to get his teeth cleaned and I fainted. Neat huh?
While I have been dreaming about teeth Blake has been dreaming about "Lost." A few weeks ago Blake and I wanted to watch a movie but couldn't find anything at Blockbuster so we decided to rent the 1st disc of the 1st season of Lost. After we watched all four episodes (in one night) we gave it to TJ and Holly to watch. Needless to say, they became addicted too! We have watched all of last season and have downloaded and watched season 2, in the past 3 weeks. If you do not watch Lost I will just warn you that it is HIGHLY addictive but very entertaining at the same time!
By the way... they did not show the season finale of "the Biggest Loser" tonight because of the weather, and I'm a little upset! That is all for now!

S-Curve Confessional
It is funny how a seemingly wonderful day can take a turn in a short amount of time. Work was wonderful today and has been all week. Merri Anne came back after a few days away and as silly as this might sound, I am actually feeling helpful around the office! Blake and I went to Abilene last weekend where we spent 2 wonderful days with our friends that we hadn't seen since the wedding. I didn't cry when we left and that is probably why I am writing this post tonight.
So... I was on my way to church tonight when my day went to the dogs. Blake was working tonight so I went by myself to help with the crazy 1st graders. I couldn't find anything on the radio to listen to so I decided to listen to the CD that was in the player. As it turns out it happened to be "Dashboard Confessionals" (Hence the title of this entry). I listened to the first song on the CD once and then as it finished I automatically pushed the back button and listened to it again. Just as I was approaching the S-Curve on Granny White I burst into tears. Surprise, surprise! The song Hands Down triggered a flood of memories of Junior Year. First the fun times of rocking out to Blake and Jeff playing dashboard at the Villa and then to all my times with Kara, Jen, and Erika at 642 1/2. It was complete emotion overload. I thought about all the fun times that I had that year and then about all the trying times and how all my friends helped each other to get through them. It was a weird experience to have on an average Wednesday on the way to church. It made me miss my Abilene friends more than I ever have before... which is pretty bad considering I just saw them 2 days ago. The wonderful memories I have of my 4 years at college will live forever because of Dashboard. On the way home I was thinking about my cry-fest when an old Trisha Yearwood song came to mind. Dashboard will always remind me of rocking out and my best friends. So this post is dedicated to you Dasboard Confessionals... for writing "Songs that Remember When."

paralysis...
I spent most of last week on the Gulf doing house triage work. I ended up turning a radio story while I was down there, and it airs in the morning on 90.3 or on www.wpln.org.
Here's the deal: We spent a couple of days gutting this elderly couples home. After soaking in 5 ft. of water with the storm surge, we did all but demolish the entire house. These people hadn't even opened the doors to their large one-story house until we showed up. Can you imagine waiting 5 weeks before even starting to clean up?
These people were absolutely paralyzed by the damage to their house. I know that I wouldn't have reacted in the same way, but today I realized what paralyzes me.
I typically work out of the house, and the Internet makes that possible. But what happens when Comcast sits down on the job and leaves my data light un-illuminated?
Blake is paralyzed. Perhaps you've felt the same way.

There is a first time for everything
Blake and I decided to start this blog because all of our friends had blogs. We aren't promising a post every day... but you can check this site everyday, anyway, if you like! I hope our lives are as interesting to you as they are to us! You might get addicted to us and think of us as the "Nashville Laguna Beach"... We are just warning you! -Blake and Mo
