It's been forever!

It's been forever! I don't know if anyone even checks this neglected blog anymore but I need to keep it updated for journaling purposes.  Since I am failing at that too right now! So here it goes.. Dav broke his arm in January.  I actually can't believe it hasn't happened long before that.  He was playing with cousins on a rhino and he grabbed the steering wheel and cranked it.  His arm went through the holes in the steering wheel and broke down by his wrist.  I highly debated whether to take him to the doc or not because he was doing push ups on it, throughing a football, and being his usual self.  It started to swell a little bit and if he hit it just right, he would scream.  Needless to say, we took him and he spent the next three weeks in a cast.

He was SO excited for his camo cast.  He could hardly stand waiting to get it until the swelling went down and the burn was cleared up enough for him to have a hard cast.

Because of the rubber, he had quite the little burn on top.

Davin likes to help out with Dawson.  I asked him to give him a little snack and I went in to find this.  It was a sure way to keep him quite for a few minutes.
Davin loves to climb in Dawson's crib and play.  They are quite the little buddies:)
Brennen and I at the Jazz game for Brennen's Birthday.  We had a good little getaway for the weekend.  We went up to the game and then the Hunting Expo the next day.  I'm so thankful for Brennen.  He is the best!

Beaver's Easter Egg hunt. Since we live in Beaver, he was in his coat and it was a bit chilly.
On our way to Beaver Dam for Easter, Dav found my lip gloss.  Obviously way before I found him.

Easter Egg hunt in Beaver Dam.  We love going down to Brennen's aunt Shanda's for the weekend.  Good family time and the nice weather..what more do you need??

The Easter Bunny found us.  I told Davin I sent the bunny some money to get a bike.  He usually NEVER brings big things like this but since he needed one, we went in on it together.  His birthday isn't until June and all the kids are starting to ride their bikes.  His scooter and trike aren't cutting it anymore.  So, we went in on a bike with the Easter Bunny.  I'm sure he won't even remember it next year.
Dawson had a rough night so he wasn't so happy-go-lucky Easter morning.  Food, especially treats, ususally help him cheer up though.  :)
Dawson's first haircut.  It was soo overdue.  He did NOT love it.

My mom and I went down to visit my Grandma and Grandpa.  I'm pretty sure Davin would me more than content living there.  He doesn't stay in the house long.  He likes to check out the horses, chase rooster, and rake the gravel:)
Dawson's first birthday:( I did a little monkey theme, nothing like I had intended.  I ran out of time and decided it wasn't worth going all out when he has not idea what's going on and we didn't have a lot of people here.  I had a lady in town make the cookies and his Birthday cupcake.  She did awesome and they were delicious as always.  The guests had sugar cookies and root beer floats.  Dawson had a giant cupcake.
Opening presents.  I had to remove all food from sight and lock him in his high chair to get him to pay attention to his presents! Then he decided he liked them.
'Ohhh, this looks good!'  He is a food lover! He didn't go crazy and dig in like I thought maybe he would.  He took it sprinkle by sprinkle and then he got a little more into it.

 Cruisin'
He's walking every where!  He had been taking steps and walking a little bit but this last week he finally took off:(  And he goes and goes and goes.  I wasn't pushing walking too much because I knew from previous experience, Davin, that once they start, they don't slow down!
Yup, he's spoiled.
I am so sad he is one already.  He is so much fun and we are so blessed to have him in our family.  A few things about Dawson at one:
-He is a good sleeper, if he is in his comfort zone! We went to Beaver Dam and it was rough.  He stayed at my brothers a few weeks ago when Dav was in the hospital and he didn't do too well there.  However, at our house, he sleeps all night.  He even sleeps in his own bed! Which is better than his BIG brother:)  I learned from the past...  I put him in his crib and he'll go to sleep and sleep all night until I wake him up to go to Grandma's.
-He is a piglet! He only has four teeth, but I never hesitate giving him anything.  He can chew anything with those teeth. Examples: carrots, meat, apples, ..anything I tell you.  He still eats baby food and likes it.  But he definitely gets his fair share of 'real' food.  He isn't much of a bottle/milk baby.  He is transitioning from formula to whole milk right now.
-Like previously mentioned, he has 4 teeth.  Two on the top and two on the bottom.
-He loves his momma! And I love it.  Dav wasn't so much of a mommy's boy, he liked his dad.  So I'm loving how much Dawson prefers me and follows me around:)
-He loves loves loves his blanket.  If there is a blanket laying on the floor, he dives right into it face first.  He loves to rub his face in it and then lay down.
-He has had several ear infections.  They seem to always accompany teeth. I believe he'll be getting tubes in the near future.
-He had a random fever virus about a month ago with fevers spiking as high as 104.5. YiKes! We had to stay on top of the tylenol/Motrin cycle and that was the only thing that helped.
-He still loves Davin.  Dav is getting a little more rough with him the older he gets.  The way Dawson yells back and shakes his hand, I think Dav is going to meet his match sooner than later.
-He tries to mimic everything we say and can say quite a few things that we recognize.  He says: momma, dadda, dadn(for Davin), mo(more), bye-bye, gampa(grandpa), gama(grandma), RyRy(Rylan), and a few others that are slipping my head.  Usually if we say, "Say......" he'll do his best to mimic it.
-He is super loved!

Well, that feels good to get caught up.  I seriously need to stay caught up.  Thanks for still checking:)

Dawson-9 Months!

Oh how the time flies..I can't believe he is already nine months! He is such a fun little guy and I'm so thankful he's ours! A few things about him at 9 months:
*He still loves his brother! Even if he is dragging him around by his feet, carrying him and bouncing him the whole way, stealing toys from him, or whatever he is putting him through, he still loves him!
*He is a little bit of a mommy's boy!  I'm kinda loving that.  Davin never was, he always wanted his dad.  So I do love the feeling of being needed and loved:)
*He does pretty good sleeping.  Most nights he sleeps all night.  The past few weeks he has been waking up really randomly.
*He is a PIG! He loves his food! He has a bottle right as he wakes, then cereal and a fruit a few hours later, then fruit and veggie for lunch, a bottle a few hours later, a veggie in the evening and shortly before he goes to bed he has a bowl of cereal with a fruit in it.  Then he pieces on whatever we are eating all day long.  I give him pretty much everything we eat.  He only has 2 teeth but he gums everything really well.  I loves all kinds of crackers, chicken-in-a-biscuit being a favorite!
*He pulls himself up on everything and has been for about a month.  He will take like 2 steps from a toy or something to the couch.  It won' t be long before he's off..then we're really in for it!  I'm pretty sure him and Dav are going to make quite the team!
*He loves to clap when you say, "Yah Dawson!" or play patty cake.  He has started waving.  He gives kisses and is never satisfied with one, he keeps them coming! I'm glad he and I think alike on that one:)
*He is noisy!  I used to have to take Davin out of sacrament...now it's Dawson.  I can't keep him from chatting..in a very loud tone!  He loves to gab and yell!
*He says Mamma, Dadda, and Baba.  Davin thinks he is saying big brother when he says baba.
*He is a little more fiesty than Davin was.  It wasn't until Dav was 18 months that I realized I was really in for it.  However, I'm already noticing it.  He has a scream that is penetrating and if you aren't paying attention to him or meeting his needs RIGHT THEN, then he'll be sure to let you know!
*He does a fake cough for attention.  Like the kind where he coughs so hard he starts gagging.  Then I have to tell him to stop before he pukes.  And there he has it, my attention!
*I have loved watching his little personality develop. Although I'm a little hesitant on how much I'm in for, I can't wait to see him continue to blossom!
*We love you little buddy!
So I took these pictures and didn't realize how I obviously didn't wipe his face off very well from lunch until I put them on the computer! Oops.  Oh well, they are still cute!

December 2011

Sorry Dav, this remote is better than your book.

Oh, maybe this book is cool..

YAAHH Dav, this book was AweSomE! haha. I love these two!

Humm...I think they might land exactly right here... So I'll dump it all for them to fight over.

Brennen trying to help he understand how to sprinkle it around..

Dawson in his sweet Santa diapers.

Wrapped and ready!!
Davin's Barn.  Boston got one last year and Davin just loves it! He always want to go to his house and play with it.

Dawson's train.

Cookies and milk for Santa.  Decorated by Davin.  I'm pretty sure the one on the bottom right is going to be his favorite.  I mean who doesn't love a WHOLE handful of sprinkles!

These pictures uploaded in RANDOM order! So here you have it, Christmas at the Orton house.

Santa Stuff..Davin really wanted a western gun.  It is the only thing he really asked Santa for.  So Christmas morning, he walked righ past the barn, right to the western gun(the little pistol one you can hardly see in the pic:) and yelled, "A WESTERN GUN!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!) It was so funny.  DAV got some western guns, a trailor and the barn.  Dawson got some new hooded towels, washclothes, clothes and his train.  Then in the middle are some family gifts.  I asked Santa to bring the kids one book, one movie, and one game each year to add to our family collection.  This year since there were two boys, he thought he'd leave 2 of each:)

Dawson didn't know what to think.  I only wrapped a few things for him since I knew he wouldn't really care.

Dav's new bull riding/saddle bronc vest.  He said, "Yes, now I'm like Cody Wright!"
Christmas from Santa and mom and dad.  Note to self; Relax a little next year.  I had a hard time controlling myself with Davin because of his cowboy obsession!
Dawson really just wanted to go back to sleep!
 Cowboy!
Cody Wright/Jesse Wright/Lane Frost He is usually one of these three when you ask him.

Santa has delivered!

Christmas 2011: I was so excited for Christmas this year.  I knew Dav would finally understand it and be so excited about everything.  The only thing he really asked for was a western gun from Alco.  I should have just told Santa to bring that and call it good! I am terrible with pictures.  It isn't until it's all over with that I realize my lack of taking pictures.  Christmas Eve we went down to Robin and Mark's in Milford for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner.  It was great and we always look forward to going down there.  Then we came over and had my family over to our house. We decorated cookies for Santa and visited.  It was fun and something I hope we can keep doing!  Christmas day we woke up and had my mom and dad come over to watch the kids open presents.  They had fun but I'm always sad it is all over within a few minutes! Then we went to my mom's and had breakfast! It was delish! Since we missed our ward becuase of breakfast, we went with Troy and Nicole's family to their ward.  I'm so thankful to have the knowledge we have of the true meaning of Christmas.  It seems the older I get the more I think about it each year and the more I appreciate the true meaning.  Then we headed out to the Orton's to exchange gifts and skype with Elder Rylan Orton!  I love that they let him skype! He is doing so good and we are so proud of him. It is so good to talk to him and hear how he has grown up but still hasn't changed too much!  He wanted to hear all the hunting stories and see all the sheds they picked up! Dav and Daws scored big again with grandpa's and grandma's gifts..once again no pics! It was a great Christmas!  The best part about Christmas is the magic with the kids and being surrounded by family! *Sorry for typos-I have a fiesty 8 month old helping me!
