LOM DAY 2009

Did everyone enjoyed LOM Day? (:

Anyways, registration was taken outside LT 21 at around 4pm, with the senior registration on the left while the juniors on the right. And I believe that everyone received a door gift when entering, right? (PS/ I'm sure Mr Tan Poh Chuan enjoyed snacking :P)

We started off with our two Emcees from the juniors, Candice and Aloysius, followed by an opening speech by Mr Goh Hock Kee. Then, we have Shi Wei, presenting to us the completed version of "Nobody" by Wonder Girls. Of course, dancing alone seems a little boring, and so, Shi Wei invited some helpers - And guess who? We have our very own course manager, Mr Goh Hock Kee to join in the dance ^0^ heh, video will be up on facebook soon!!

Next up, various participants from our seniors and juniors, taking part in the LOM Idol Competition! A very nice guitar accompaniment for Dee's "Hotel California", Kenny's "You're Not Alone" and his moonwalk, Vanessa's "Almost Over You" with a great lot of supporters, Erica's "The Climb" which earned a lot of applause from the audiences, and Shi Wei's "Best In Me". Not forgetting our Myanmar students from Year 2, bringing us a short introduction of their country and as well as their very own cultural dance, which was pretty interesting.

In between, we had some mini games conducted. Managed to get the whole lecture hall noisy like zoo :X With the spirit of winning in mind, we witnessed how teams run down the steps and dashed to the Emcees, how teams THREW their slippers down... you all have lots of fun, right? Congrats to team 1 who won in the mini games xD

At the end of the event, LOM IDOL emerged, judged by Mr Foo Choo Yen, Mr Selwyn Lim and Ms Oh Hui Ling. I'm sure many of you can predict the winner..... *drum rolls* ..... ERICA! Her voice is really very solid and nice~

After the announcement of results and prize giving ceremony, everyone was starving! And outside of the LT, there's a mini buffet with Fried rice, bee hoon goreng, hot dogs, curry puffs, curry vegetables, rose syrup and almond jelly with logan! Judging at the leftovers, the food taste nice isn't it? :D Initially the activity captains' ball was planned after dinner.. But well, I think everyone was simply too tired and headed home :D

LOM CAMP 2009

Is holiday and how did you all spend it? Did you attend LOM Camp 2009?? If you did not, you had missed all the fun !!! Those who attended do you agree?

Registration started at 1pm on 9 June 2009 in LT 21. The response was overwhelming? Well, the attendence is great I would say but it could had been better. Afterwhich everyone reported back to the LT to start the activities.The first activities is like amazing race? Well, each group were given a picture of the school compound. They have to find out where it is in the school and report to the respective venue for the activities. I could remember the bucket game, the blindfold and number game at the Mushroom, the class photos in IT school ground floor, the alphabet marcaroni and flour and not forgetting the soy sauce, tissues and green pearl? Well, I know there is some others but I can't remember. Sorry !! The most memorable would had been the soy sauce smell that many people has ^.^ Dinner was next. Lomies reported at Biz park for their dinner. Is the food nice people? I see everyone seems really hungry and exhausted ^.^ Up next was battle of the sexes. Well, words cannot describe it. Shall get those photos and video to let those who missed it see. I am sure you all will have a good laugh ^.^

The long awaited event - Night Walk started pretty late and many had left :( Well, for those who stayed and played do you all enjoyed it? Have to really apologies to those who did not have the chance to enjoy it when it was cancelled half way. But those who played, is it nice? I guess so. Really should thanks those who put in their effort to put up the night walk for you people. The day ended at 2am? Time for a rest and bath.

The next day was pretty short with only a few survivor. Breakfast was serve and 'duo mao mao' was next. Well, it is fun and challenging? Break camp at 12 pm and Home Sweet Home. Those who stayed throughout the two day, Thanks. You all make everyone effort worthwhile. Also a big thanks to those who work hard for so long to let us enjoyed ourselve.

Lastly, there is only one more week of holiday!!! So enjoyed and Junior do not forget the Beer Game on next fri (19-06-2009).

Mid- Semester Omminent Arrival....

Dear fellow Lomies,

Mid Sem term test will officially be held next week! Hope that you guys had done enough preparations and remember to check your timetable and seating plan. Not forgetting to bring your thermometer as failure to do so may result in penalising (as shown in Big Bold whenever you log in to school computers).

For some stress relieve, here's the joke of the day....

Student: Teacher, is the paper hard or not?

Teacher: Erm, no.

Teacher: The papers are soft.

Hey! Sorry guys for the long lead time. After some editing, the orientation video is now being uploaded under "Lom" section. Am clueless about how to shrink the video width. It's the smallest available on youtube. Hope it doesn't disrupt the enjoyment on re-living that day.

AY 09/10 LOM Blog is Back in Blogspot!

On this day, 19th april 2009, LOM blog is shifted back to blogspot!!! This blogspot held long memories of our LOM lecturers and seniors. Hence, we are very pleased to announce that we are shifting back to fill this blogspot too!!! Starting from today, we are also welcoming our new juniors to this warm, cosy course. (Clap, Clap , Clap) Over here, we don't only study hard but WE PLAY HARD as well. Meanwhile, for a start, remember to check your timetable and buy the necessary notes.

Another thing to note is that there is an orientation arranged for juniors on this friday. Do not worry that it will clash your lecture timing. Necessary arrangements had been made. So please do be present to enjoy and make new friends. Scroll down and refer to the powerpoint printscreen for the details.

On the 3rd of Nov, the LOM lecturers organised the first LOM Alumni's Gathering.

We have seniors who graduated as early as year 2000 coming back to join us for this meaningful event.

LOM Seminar 2007

LOM Seminar 2007 is held at the 18th nov. It's mainly about the Challenges and Trends in Retail Logisitcs. It involved social elites from Logisitcs' field, Managers, Executives, interested parties and even students! Majority have taken their time off for this rare chance to network and have a discussion on how Logistics have evolved over the years. Furthermore it could help bringing the big Logistics family closer together.

The Seminar kicked-started with Stall-Manager@IKEA Tampines, Mr. Roger Lothgren. He talked about the IKEA Logisitcs Pipeline. Mainly about how IKEA functions with it's logistics, the improvement they had done. Also some vital statistics about the company and the outlook of logistics over the years. The Humourous Mr. Roger also shared with us how IKEA's standing has changed over the years. Through some creative innovation and planning of storage, IKEA managed to cut huge amount of costs hence enabling such low prices for the consumers.

Next on is NTUC director-supply chain Mr. Dickson Yeo presenting his speech on Managing Grocery Logisitcs( Cold Chain Management). He shared some workings of NTUC and the type of storing of goods. Lets say goods must be stored under a temperature cause of bacteria growth and such. He'd also shared some Secrets with us lol!. it's regarding the high-technology they used to keep their goods fresh. How the goods are being Quality checked are also being shared. Hm Best of all!! there's a "live example" Meaning fresh packs of vegetables were being given out to those who came for the seminar!. Haha! it certainly looks fresh and nice!.

Following up next is Senior-Officer of EDB Miss Rebeeca Li. Her topic is "Singapore- where logistics works for consumer goods." She give us some examples and reasons as to why Singapore is so lucrative and attractive as a upcoming Logistics hub. Also entertaining us with her reasons.

Last but not least is Singapore Post Chief operating officers Mr. Dennis Quek. His topic is "Managing & Retaining Logistics Talents" Yes it's quite a good topic for it listed out the different scenario for the consequences of able to maintain talents and unable to stop the leakage. He also Listed out various means to provide and Nuture such talents to cater for the growing industry. More importantly the industy must be able to get the talent's interest so as to help Logistics industry flourish.
