I'm baaaack...

I know, that leaf I turned over flipped right back:) I always have a good excuse. This time (I know I've used this one in the past) it's school. I'm still a college student and I am once again doing clinicals. That means I work for free. It should be a 40 hour work week but I've managed to squeeze it down to 25-30 hours a week. But on top of my other class, my real job and my family that is plenty. So something had to give. This was one of the many things that "gave". But here's a quick update on life as we know it...
The first week of April we surprised Josh with a trip to Disneyland. He had never been before. He thought we were taking a taxi or train to Portland. The plane ride alone was a great surprise. When we got to the airport we "ran into" our friends and we announced the surprise. It was great. We spent our first day looking around Hollywood. Baylee and I watched them film part of the new Wonder Woman. We spent a day at Universal Studios, we talked Josh into going on the Mummy ride, he's not a fan. We headed down to Sea World, Chris's favorite CA park, and had a great time there for a day. Sunday we played on the beach and swallowed alot of salt water. We finished off the trip with three days at Disneyland. It was a fun trip. Chris swears he's never going back but we'll see...

I spent a weekend mid-April with my best high school girlfriends; Kallee and Stephanie. We were spoiled in downtown Boise with massages, food and shopping. It's so great to have friends you've know for 30 years, who you can see after a year and pick up right where you left off. Love these girls!

Easter was a nice surprise. I got called off from the hospital the morning of. We hadn't accepted offers for Easter dinner thinking I wouldn't be around but at the last minute I was home. Hurray! We had a crazy easter egg hunt before church and the annual family pics after church followed by a yummy dinner and relaxing evening together.

The kids are busy, our weeks and weekends are packed. Baylee justed finished playing her sophomore year of tennis. She's been named JV team captain for next year. Kaity is wrapping up her marimba performances. They are an amazing group. For a sneak peek at her performance go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS1KdmLHdXc
Josh is playing his first year of flag football. Chris is of course his coach. He's having a blast and wears his mouth guard all the time. It drives the girls nuts!
You are up to date, life is good!

Bobby McGee & the Grandparents...

Grandma and Grandpa Bissenden came for a visit this past weekend. The kids had school on Friday so the adults went down to Tacoma to see the glass museum and had a great lunch at Johnny's Boat House. It was fun to visit and catch up. We only see them twice a year now that we are in WA.
Baylee turns 16 this summer and Grandma Bissenden collaborated with us in getting her a car. Bobby McGee (Baylee named the car) was a surprise as you can tell by these pics.

Baylee had no idea this was going to happen. I had convinced her that there was just no way we'd be able to get her one and so she and I would have to share "Dora the Explora". We bought the car last month and have been hiding it at various friends houses. At one point it sat in front of our house but she thought it was the neighbors. One Sunday we had to move the car so we put Kaitlyn in charge of distracting Baylee while Chris and I got into the car and moved it. As soon as we walked out the door Baylee tried to walk toward the window. Kaitlyn tackled her to stop her from seeing what we were doing. Baylee had no idea what was going on. When Chris and I returned 20 minutes later they were still wrestling on the floor. Kaity was crying and Baylee was soooo mad that Kaity had attacked her, totally out of the blue. We just kinda ignored it which made Baylee even more mad. Way to go Kaity for taking one for the team. The secret was safe and the surprise a hit!
Saturday the girls spent the day shopping while the boys went to the arcade and met up with us for lunch. On Sunday we took a trip to the Naval base and toured an old Naval Ship. We stopped in at Sluys, a famous bakery, in Poulsbo to get doughnuts the size of our heads and had to make a stop at CB's Nuts to get some souvenirs for Chris. It was a packed weekend and I think we are all a bit tired today. But it was fun to have them here for a visit.

Turning over a new leaf...

I just got home from a service project where I sat with three other women tying a quilt. We basically sat there laughing and tied three quilts in several hours. Not quick workers but we had fun.
I share this because I love that when you sit with other women, you get the best ideas for things you can do. And because they do it, in most cases I feel like I can too, it's realistic. So two of the three are bloggers. One mentioned that her new goal is blog more often to better record the life of her family. It made me feel so guilty. I've not taken that opportunity. I even set it as a goal last year and didn't do it once. So I'm gonna try again. Here goes.....

Baylee is a sophomore at Bothell High School, go Cougars! She played for the JV soccer team this past fall and was chosen to be the team captain. She's very involved in ASB (student government) and spends soooo much time on various projects at the school. Poor thing had to get braces on again, set #2, hopefully this one will be quick. She's only 15 and won't turn 16 until the end of the summer so no dating for her this year:( But she still went to Homecoming with a group of friends. She completed drivers ed last month and is working on meeting her parent supervised hours so she's ready to get her license come August. I am so ready for her to be driving. I spend hours in the car driving her back and forth between home and school. She started tennis this past week and really likes her JV coach. He reminds her of her Grandpa McDougal who she has a special bond with; plus the coaches name is Bob. She's a great example to us all. She attends early morning seminary. (Shout out to Chris for getting up and taking her every morning at 5:45) She also started taking piano lessons this past fall after Grandma and Grandpa McDougal made the trip up to bring my piano. She's done really well and enjoys picking songs from the radio and seeing if she can find the music. She's so fun to be around and a great help to me, very willing to let her little brother or sister hang with her and her friends.

Kaitlyn is in the 6th grade this year. She is the most involved kid at Canyon Creek Elementary. She plays Marimba, sings in the choir, is in Math Club, runs track and cross country, is a crossing guard and volunteers to be in charge of many 6th grade activities. She and I got to go to 6th grade camp this year. It was so fun to see her with all of her friends having fun! She also started playing the piano this past fall. She was one of the main reasons I asked my parents to bring the piano and I'm so glad it worked out. She has such incredible natural talent. It is so fun to listen to her play. She's getting very good. Her teacher is very impressed. She loves to read! She takes after her mother and grandmother:) If ever she disappears you can almost always find her curled up on her bed with a good book. She is also into crafting. She likes to make cards or scrap book pages with her cricut. Kaity is a computer junkie. She's the best at keeping in touch with family because she'll text or skype or IM her cousin's in UT almost everyday. She's so good to her younger brother. She walks him to school everyday and always watches out for him after school to make sure I get him before she goes to her various activities.

Josh is all boy! He's in the 1st grade at Canyon Creek Elementary. He loves to play video games, shoot hoops, run and wrestle with the dogs, hang out with his Dad, roller blade/skate board/bike. Anything and everything to expell energy. He's so much like Chris. He loves science. He loves to learn about the solar system and space and can pour over huge books on the subject with Chris and never get bored. He loves animals; he checks books out at the library about all different kinds and loves to read facts about them and repeat them to us. He likes to tell jokes. He's also taken to checking out joke books. One of his favorite activities is taking apart old dvd players or radios and seeing what's inside. Chris will give him a screw driver and let him go nuts. They'll talk about what's inside and what it does and how it works. He loves to build fires in the back yard pit or while we're camping and loves when Chris will let him be in charge. He's a family kid. He's happiest when we are all together hanging out doing the same thing. He loves to have family game night or sit around watching American Idol. He and his sisters are currently watching the series Lost and he gets so excited when he gets home from school if they don't have homework so they can all pile on the couch and watch an episode together. He loves music. Justin Beiber is his current favorite, that's why his hair is long now. He likes to sing and can sing each song word for word. He just finished his second Bball season and was so proud to have his Dad and big sister Bay be his coaches.

Chris and I are same ol' same. He's still working in Bellevue. Because he leaves so early in the a.m. to take Bay to seminary he's able to get home a bit earlier and avoid the commute traffic most days. He loves to spend time with the kids and goes to every activity possible. He's a fabulous father, very involved! He got a road bike last fall for his birthday so when the weathers good he'll bike into work from the downtown trail. His back is still troubling him but when it's good he'll play ball a few mornings a week with some guys from the office. I'm back in school, the never ending story.... I'm just wrapping up my first quarter back. I'm taking some classes to certify for CAT Scan but will also apply to the BA program at Bellevue College this next week. My goal is to get my degree before Baylee does. I'd hope to finish before she starts college but I don't think that's realistic:) I've actually adjusted to being a stay at home Mom. I volunteer at the school, do my church calling and run the house and go to school myself. I also work about 10 hours a week as a companion to a friend who's wheelchair bound. It's crazy how much time all of that takes up.
Life is good. We're all healthy, happy and blessed.

Wow! (guest post by Kaitlyn)

Haven't posted in a while so here it goes.
Josh has enrolled in Basketball with who other than his very own dad as the coach! These pictures are from his first season, although he is now onto his second season with Baylee as officially the Assistant Coach. Josh had his 7th birthday party at Chuck E' Cheese (otherwise known as Up Chuck N' Cheese). Summer of 2010 was the McDougal/Hall Family Reunion. Baylee had Homecoming and totally rocked a modest turquoise silky dress. First day of 10th, 6th, and 1st grade. Kids...you gotta love them.

Forks, WA

Chris has a friend at work who has a place in Forks, WA (home of Twilight). As soon as Baylee heard that she was dying to go. We were invited to join them this past weekend. The boys would fish and the girls; the Twilight tour. We took the ferry, the kids first ride. The fun began there! The men fished on day one and the kids and I went to see the rain forest. The fishing turned out to be pretty bad due to the rain storms so that night we all headed down to the beach to roast hot dogs and mellows and play in the waves. It was Valentine's Day and the kids said it was the best they've ever had. We had a great time! The next day the boys, Josh included, headed to the lake to try fishing there. The girls did the official tour. So much fun. What a great weekend.

New Years Eve...

Happy New Year to all. We had a few friends over this year to hang with us and ring in the new year. The kids ran around acting crazy while the adults played games and ate lots of food. Chris made his special bacon wrapped scallops, they were a hit! When our friend Scott showed up he had a BYU shirt on, Chris graciously let him in the house but promptly put on his U sweatshirt, just to even the look.
Josh was dying to see the "ball drop" I think he thought it would be cooler than it really was, but he cheered just the same. Traci brought glow necklaces and the kids had poppers to add to the chaos. Most of us made it to midnight.
Thanks Amy, Brent, Jamie, Kris, Traci and Scott; we had a great time!
Part of the evening was spent running Bay around: I had to take her to one party and then pick her up and take her to the church dance and then welcome her and 5 or 6 of her friends here to sleepover. I made them pose for a pic in front of the dance; they humored me.

A good time had by all...

We had a great Christmas this year. Here's a peak at what we did:)
