kyler's first day of school!!!

i can not believe my BABY is 18 months old - old enough to go to pre-school!!! today is her first day. she was in a gReAt mood this morning and drop-off was fine. after we took kamdyn to her class, kyler started walking toward the doors to leave. i reminded her that we were going to HER class today too! we got to the door and as i walked in the classroom she just stood outside staring at me. i was trying to lure her in and she looked at me and shook her head no! then she turned to run away, continuing to shake her head! it was pretty funny. i had to chase after her and bring her back to reality. i handed her off to her teacher and she was fine. no tears, so that was good! i can't wait to pick the girls up to find out how her day went.

the other thing that was awesome was this morning when kamdyn woke up she was sad b/c daddy was already gone for work. so i was trying to cheer her up and i said, "kaaaammmdyyn...guess what? today kyler gets to go to school!" she gasped and said in the cutest, long, soft voice, "her's a biiiig girl now!"

the long lost park!

the COLD weather gave us a break today! it was SO MUCH FUN to go play at the park when kamdyn got out of school today! the girls had a great time and were not read to leave. it seems like it's been a really long time since we've gotten to really play hard outside. doesn't kyler look so old?!?!?!?!?!?!

popcorn & a tent

my dad gave us a popcorn maker for christmas and kamdyn LOVES it! we do not make much popcorn around this joint but i think that is going to change. it's so fun and kamdyn and kyler loved watching it pop! then the other day we were home all day for a couple of days straight and needed to change things up a bit. i remember when i was growing up my sister and i used to LOVE making tents out of sheets - normally with closet doors, chairs, etc. so i thought i'd pull out a big sheet and see if it would work over the kitchen table. it did. they loved it. only thing was kyler kept standing up and hitting her head on the table. par for the course, i guess. what's one more injury around here anyway?!

the cast is off!

kyler and i spent a few hours at children's hospital in dallas on monday. she got her cast off! it was a big day. she was pretty scared of the saw that drilled the cast off. then they had to pry it apart. she did not like any of that. then we had to go get x-rays again. she did not like that either. then the stitches needed to be removed. really. did. not. like. she had to be put in the papoose again - just like when we got them in. so traumatic! by the time they got all the stitches out she was totally worn out! she fell asleep on me and stayed asleep the whole time they were fitting the splint and putting it on. so away we went (2.5 hours later) with a MUCH smaller hot pink splint for her finger.

i was actually surprised at how good her finger looks. i could not imagine that it would grow back together so well. it def still looks funny and not totally normal. but maybe it will not be too obvious. they said it is still broken but will continue to heal as she lives normal every day life. we are happy to have that big cast gone - it became a weapon the last few days!

anyway - here are some pictures of her when we say, "show us your finger" or something like that...she knows something's wrong with it. she actually JUST starting using her right hand again today. all week she's still been only using her left, as though her cast was still on. so it will be interesting to see when she really starts using it completely.

now let's just pray that we can stay out of the ER for a while.

what a treat

it's been pretty cold around here lately, at least at night. we've been letting the dogs sleep in the laundry room instead of outside. i know. how nice of us. so this past weekend zack thought it would be fun to let the dogs in (like inside our house, not in the laundry room) so the girls could play with them. kamdyn & kyler LOVED it! it was really sweet and cute and actually a really great activity for about an hour and a half! it was fun to see them having so much fun. they've been wanting them in a lot more ever since. a lot. if they just didn't shed so much.....

christmas day

we spent christmas day with zack's family down at his mom's house in dallas. annie got zack's old train set out from when he was a kid and kamdyn just LOVED it! she also very much enjoyed opening more gifts and always takes to grayson. she also taught chris how to read. kyler had a fun time too - as you can see she just lays down and sucks her thumb when she decides she's tired. :) her other favorite activity always consists of poking hayden in the face. mostly the nose but she has tried for the eyes a time or two. :)

all in all we had a great christmas!!!

oh - i took absolutely zero pictures of christmas with my family. isn't that sad? hopefully one of my sisters will send me some. (ahem).

a white christmas!

we still can't believe it actually snowed on christmas!!! i don't think it has ever happened in our life time and who knows if it will ever happen again! it was cold so we only stayed outside a few minutes. kamdyn LOVED it but was so cold. we just had their pajamas on and threw coats and hats over them. for kyler's cast we used a big zip lock freezer bag and then put her coat over it - we knew she wouldn't be out for long. several mornings since then kamdyn has asked if it's snowing outside. it's not.

christmas morning

santa! kamdyn was a little confused that santa was not still at our house when she woke up. we tried to explain it to her. once she saw more gifts though, she was fine. :)

kamdyn was SO excited about the tool set that she didn't even notice the princess dress at first. and kyler loved the jewelry - especially over her cast. kamdyn wanted to "fix" things all morning w/ her new tools. mostly her bed and the cabinet. so random but very cute. both the girls "fixed" the cabinet before we left for annie's house.
