How does the time fly by so quickly?? I am glad I at least keep taking pictures even if I don't do much with them...yet. Someday. Here are some of my favorite highlights of the summer:
I was tired of trying to come up with fun things for 'winter' birthday parties...so, we did a summer birthday party and had a BLAST. We had Dakoda's friends come first played for a couple of hours, then Logan's came and then we just played in the yard on this HUGE waterslide until 9pm. It was so fun!! We had nachos and snow cones and had lots of Luau fun.
We always go on a summer trip with the Andersen family and this year we went to Riverdale, ID. Logan had a blast on Uncle Steve's stand up boat thing and Dakoda couldn't get enough of the waterslide.
I am sure there are a lot of series of unfortunate events that end up with people in the emergency room in the middle of the night and on this trip the Bird's had one. Before we left oliver had broken his toe which normally wouldn't even be cast, but the doctor thought it would be best if we did. Of course on our trip we were swimming and playing in the dirt and sand and that cast got soaking wet and dirty and gross so being the super smart parents that we are we enlisted the help of my brother in law who just so happend to have a drummel with him to just go ahead and slice the cast off the poor kid. He didn't really need it and it seemed very uncomfortable, wet cast is much more uncomfortable than fiberglass dust all over your legs and inside the cast which is what we ended up with. So with shot nerves from the drummel and a hysterical 2 year old we loaded our three kids in the minivan at midnight and drove the 40 miles to the Logan ER, where yes I did in fact have to explain several times to various ER workers our series of unfortunate events. I felt AWSOME!! They didn't think I was an idiot at all. Once the cast was finally off using the correct tools I skiped out on the rest of the ER docs lectures and splinting he was insisting that I do and we headed back to our vacation. Poor Ollie, silly parents.
Oliver LOVES babies and this summer he went through a little phase and wanted to sleep with some of the babies at our house, it was very cute.
We of course rounded out the summer with lots of late nights playing with neighbors, fun south weber days events, and a weekend trip to St. George with our little family. Tons of summer fun!!
