Going anywhere with a baby requires LOTS of stuff and since I had to come back by myself we did a little test run to see if I could handle everything....um....
We had to take a late flight to Atlanta during Ethan's bedtime. The little guy has always given us a run for our money when it comes to sleeping and this trip wasn't much different. He fell asleep right before we landed :)
In Atlanta we decided to try a pizza place recommended by some friends, Antico's Pizza. The place was definitely off the beaten path and when we pulled up and saw the 50 people in line in front of the door I had no idea how they were all going to fit inside. The seating is community long-bench style and the pizza was AMAZING! We haven't been known to try new places in the past, but we loved this experience and are going to eat at places like this more often, so fun!
Of course we had to visit World of Coke while in Atlanta and the Centennial Olympic Park right there is alot of fun as well with lots of things going on. It was a beautiful day and we were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked the city and suburbs of Atlanta!
Our next stop was Savannah, GA and oh if we had known how amazing the place was we would have planned to spend more time there. I love the idea of the old South, with its plantations and grand houses. It was fun to see all of the trees with the Spanish moss; its just so charming down there.
The next day we headed to Charleston, SC and the drive there was so pleasant. A two lane highway with lots of trees and cute little towns on the side of the road. For lunch we stopped at the Early Bird Diner which was recommended to us by a local. We decided we had to try some chicken and waffles and that was the best place to go. Again, when we pulled up it was definitely not a place I would have picked on my own, but the chicken and waffles were good and it was fun to try some real southern food.
Charleston was a fun place to visit and we enjoyed walking around the old town. There is a fun market with local vendors, cute little restaurants and lots of beautiful old houses.
Luckily Ethan hadn't started crawling yet, so he was happy to sit on the bed and play with toys while we were in the hotel room. His room most of the time was in the nice quiet bathroom :)
We also visited Drayton Hall plantation and Magnolia Gardens. The house is the only plantation house on the Ashley River to have survived intact through both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. It was built in the 1730's and is the only house of its kind that has not been updated throughout the years. It is basically in its original condition with no electricity or plumbing!
Magnolia Gardens is about 1 mile down the road from Drayton and they are incredible! Luckily we were there when the azaleas were in bloom. Pictures nor words can do it justice, I wanted to build a little house there and move in.
We had a fun trip and although it was definitely more restrictive with a baby, we had fun traveling again and seeing new places.
We also celebrated our 6th anniversary on April 11th, I can't believe how time flies. Grateful to have such a wonderful husband who is also a fabulous dad.
The rest of April consisted on keeping the little munchkin entertained through some very creative methods like going around the house in a wipes box.
We also had fun with Morgan's sister Penny and her girls when they came to visit. We went to the Dallas Arboretum which was beautiful as well and Ethan got to sit on grass for the first time :)
