When I learned that we would have to see THE Sagouine, I was suspicious, and not for nothing.  This character is a proud hero of the Acadian nation.  Acadie is a nation that is tore between their own French language and English.  How can we be proud of the transformation of La Sagouine, a play that defends the survival of  French in Acadie in THE Sagouine, an assimilated hero, a dead warior that lost his battle and the battle of his nation.  La Sagouine presents a character who talks like an old acadian woman talks.  That what makes that play a good play.  The Sagouine presents a character talking in English like any other French would talk in English after being assimilated.  So, where is the good part in this play?  I think it has been deported.

Wake up Hollywood!

     For someone that likes watching many movies, an original structure can be interesting.  In other words, for someone that is tired of watching Hollywood films that do not surprise them anymore, there is Inception.  This movie should win an Oscar because of his dramatic structure and his own complex world that catch you in the story.

     First, the structure of that movie is original, even if it is not unique.  It kinds of remember us the movie Memento of the same director.  The action is interupted by sequences of the past that helps us to understand the plot.  During the first scenes, you just can’t understand what’s going on.  It is later in the movie that hints will bring you to understand the rules of the world where the movie is.  Of course the director Christopher Nolan is not the only one to deliver the plot of his movies this way.  Alejandro Gonzàlez Innàritu, the director of Amores Perros, 21 grams, Babel, and the new movie Biutiful, is one of the master in the art of making movies with such a complex structure.  But even if it is not unique, it is different of many other films that Hollywood movie industry has made.

     Secondly, Inception is a science-fiction movie that brings us a new world.  A world when humans can enter into the dreams of other humans.  They can even steal an idea in the dreams, or even put an idea in your mind.  The reason why this movie should win an Oscar is that the complexity of the fictional world is brought to the watchers by an intelligent way.  They made sure this world would seems incredible by using special effects eith great graphics.  Also theese effects helped the story instead of remplace the script, like hollywood prooved how it was able to make movies with only special effects and no script, like Transformers by exemple.

     In the end, that movie is not using totally new and unique techniques, but it is an intelligent movie that has a interesting structure and that makes us fall in love with a world where so many things is possible by controlling the dreams.  Also, the movie let us with a very beautiful question by asking us if we are really sure that we live in the reallity or in a dream.  Because you can’t be totally sure you were in a dream before waking up!

My new friend Léa

Sometimes, life gives us a chance to meet new people.  There is a difference between knowing someone and knowing about that someone.  Its by having a short interview with Léa Aubin that I was able to know more about her. 

First, Léa is a great traveler.  With her family, she went in a trip around Asia during a whole year!  She also visited Perou and France.  She studies in drama, here, at Cégep Saint-Laurent.  Her short term goal is to succeed well in her two years here.  After, she wishes to graduate at the National theater school.  She then wants to be an actress and even to be a director.  In her biggest dreams, Léa wants to own a theater.
Then, Léa has an older sister who lives in the same house as her.  She also has a cousin in france and even some family in Gatineau!  Of course, she met friends during her trip of one year in Asia.  She is a good snowboarder, she can play the trompet and she is really good at organizing and directing.  She even was president of her high school!

I really apreciated meeting Léa.  She is a talented person with great ambitions that has an interesting background in her life.  I know she will succeed in her biggest dreams because the great voyager can't be stopped!
