A NEW JOB?

at the woodrow house this week there are new innkeepers! the flemings are on a trip to europe with their oldest daughter courtney and they have interim innkeepers here. this couple is from colorado city, he is a retired ford tractor dealer, they are late 60's in age, and they have been doing this for the last 11 years throughout texas, oklahoma and new mexico. mac and joy morris. mac told me this morning that last year they worked 42 weeks and turned down 20 plus other job offers.

the requirements are to be friendly and gracious, be able to cook breakfast for the guests( and man, were the sausage and cheese omelets good this morning!) and be able to supervise the clean staff. i don't know the salary but would expect it would be good.

i am posting this for my friend susan deniakos who has always toyed with the idea of owning a bed and breakfast and for my friend karen who likes to stay in bed and breakfasts and should consider this career option. susan, there is a retired southwest airline pilot and his wife that will be training this week here!

girls, girls, girls!

i am in heaven! andi flew in on wednesday morning and so all three of my girls are in one place with me. although kristin is at work some and andi is visiting lubbock friends some and sydney leaves me for her bed some, there is much time when we are all together just talking, watching tv, shopping, eating and hanging out. i feel like bursting in song. 'thank heaven for little(and not so little anymore) girls.'

if only the nieces were here...

summertime fun

i am sitting in my bed and breakfast (www.woodrowhouse.com ) in the alumni room (jason is proud but really that is the one that was available for the month and a half stay uninterrupted) and watching tv with my computer in my lap. this is only my second night here and i have made a nest already. kristin started back at the hospital today and sydney was all mine! well, jason came home for lunch to love on her and kristin called and had me take sydney up to the hospital about 130pm for her break but i did get lots of hugging and kissing and holding in. sydney is smiling when you walk in and she sees you, coos and makes these sweet sounds and eats and sleeps. she loves her bath so i give her an extra one after lunch before her nap- jason bathes her before bedtime. fun, fun, fun. and i get to spend time with kristin and jason as well. andi is flying up next wednesday through the following monday to share in the sydney time and jim is coming up on his days off. so.....

the deal i made with the bed and breakfast was not supposed to include breakfast. i chose this place because there are only two houses between the back door and kristin and jason's house. but the owners decided to feed me breakfast so this morning i was offered sweet potato pancakes, eggs and ham and all the drinks stuff and then fresh fruit. they have a place setting on the kitchen island set for me at 700am. i head down and eat while watching the tv on the wall and visiting and then scoot out the back to my 'job' at 730.

anyways, this is the life. a clean room, ice water in my jug, wireless internet and a flatscreen with cable AND my sweet grandbaby just down the street!
