Aliens in the Attic & Accident

Watched two A movies this week - Aliens in the Attic & Accident.

Aliens, with Vincent, was alright. A rather family-friendly movie, pitching that being smart is definitely not lame. Sypnopsis - Family vacation gets thwarted when a bunch of mind-controlling , knee-tall aliens drop into a family's vacation home. Since the mind-controlling devices can only infiltrate the bodies of adults, it's up to the kids to save the day before this advance alien party send for reinforcements to invade Earth. My favorite part was Grandma Vs Older sister's bf. Damn funny.

Accident with JW - Brain (played by Louis Khoo) fronts an assassin team who don't kill their targets conventionally. Instead, they plot and plan supposed "accidents" to get rid of their targets. *Spoiler Alert*

After an assassination attempt goes horribly wrong (the target dies, but a real accident happened), leaving one of Brain's accomplice dead, he starts getting all cuckoo and thinking about how everything is set up. It doesn't help that he is a rather careful, suspicious man. Short of becoming a schizo, he plots to kill the supposed "mastermind".

Rather sad, morbid story, about old age, alzheimer's, loneliness and oversuspicion. My dad should watch this. He's suspicious about everything. =( That's why sometimes I prefer to watch fluffy nonsense, keeps my brain from getting sad.

Got my Kenzo perfume set from CLEO already. =) So if you want to purchase any Kenzo perfume, please look for JW, whose probably gonna sell them online. I can't use all at the same time.

Watched Fann & Chris' wedding on tv. How wonderful to have sponsorship. Didn't fancy her gown though, the last one with the indian influences.

Vincent and me

Just back from going out with Vincent. Vincent is the ultimate aunty. Haha. So, because of him I get to enjoy freebies too.

First we went for an early dinner at Ajisen, where we had 50% off cuz he's a member. Members get 50% off every third Monday of the month, and if the third Monday is a public holiday, then it will be the Monday after. So my crayfish ramen just costed me $6.50. Worth it, right? =) Too bad, the crayfish was very hard to get out from its shell. We figured it might be clear stock day, but I dunno.

Bought tickets to watch Aliens in the Attic at half price, so I only paid $3.50 for my ticket. =) Awesome, right? We went Jubilee though. Jubilee so poor thing, hardly any customers. The whole theatre was serving just Vincent, me and another couple. AMK Hub has really taken all their customers. There is not much there, except maybe Popular and Polar. I used to think Jubilee had really bad seats, but it's okay lehz. I think I don't mind watching movies at Jubilee anymore. It has lesser people too.

Drank bubble tea from Koi. Fabulous. Every mouthful is full of pearls. Haha. Nice packaging too, bad for the environment, but good creative touch. Will definitely go back again.

My recess week weekend

Yay! Recess week means I can finally go out on a proper date, instead of all dates being stuck in Pulau NTU. -_-"

Had lunch on Saturday at MOF, cuz I'm a member. And I made the best of it by ordering all the member specials.

Just had to take a picture of this watermelon sundae. He's making that face cuz he is not a fan of dessert nor soft serve vanilla ice cream. But I heartz all the dessert presentations at MOF. They are art.

Watched "The Ugly Truth". It's not a couple rom-com. It's a frat flick disguised as a chick flick - the number of sexist jokes in that movie, which they claim to be the truth (okay, maybe it is the truth, I dunno. Wish that maybe guys could be more complicated). But I'm sure the men will enjoy it. JW laughed so hard I thought he was going to fall off his chair.

And on Sunday, Hui, Min and I made our way to Hotel Excelsior for dimsum buffet.

As you can see from the menu, it's basically the same as Hotel Miramar except that we don't have to take the bus. So Jessie & co, we can consider this place. =)

Min & me.

Hui & me.

The fried stuff - carrot cake, some soybean wrapped stuff, prawn wantons, charsiew sou.

My century egg lean meat porridge.

Guo Tie.

Har Gao, Siew Mai, Xiao Long Bao, Glutinous Rice, Fried noodles. We went crazy with the ordering.

We even had chicken wings and pai gu. After washing everything down with lots and lots of chinese tea, we had dessert.

Da Mai (which is like barley with coconut), mango pudding and huimin's herbal jelly.

Good times talking. And then we went shopping where I bought more Ellen Flats from Rubi. I must have all the colours! Bwahahahah!
Can't wait for the next outing planned by either Dom, Fio or Carol. =)

I feel a little under the weather

I feel a little under the weather. =( Sore throat. Not good. Where got people fall sick just before term break starts? -_-"

This week started off with the 402 test. I didn't stay in the LT for long. The more I read the Media Law questions, the more I wonder if my answers are correct. But yay, we have friday off and no tutorials for this week.

And then Wednesday night, Jessie drove us (yl, wj, me, jw) for zichar at City Harvest. Played scrabble then went up to the atrium for MAF. Had mooncake and tea and felt really old, especially when I tried to sabo Yong Kun and end up the freshies kept asking "Who is Yong Kun?". Watched tv at 48 lounge with the Othello team who were training there. I think the rec culture should be revitalised, but that's just my own old opinion.

Thursday night was Investiture. First time sitting off the stage. Ate till I puke. Too full, too much oil, some too cold. Missed the Investiture food of my first year, even though they served fake shark's fin. Watched like 3 hr of tv down at the 47 lounge. Watched Project Runway, ANTM and Top Chef. Too bad there wasn't newspapers. I'm gonna die. Survivor, Amazing Race and Project Runway are all back. I love teevee shows too much.

Watch Men

Watched "WatchMen" over the course of the week. Thought that it wasn't bad. But it made me really sad and poignant. Maybe that's the effect that they were trying to achieve. And no I don't know if the movie reproduction stayed true to the original because I never read the comics.

And I love this sentence from the movie: "I'm not locked in here with you. You are locked in here with me."

Ooh and I saw a fight while out with supper with Jia Wei one night. Interesting. I'm a voyeur. =P

And during class while we were talking about piracy, Jane shared with me a place to get free movie downloads. Bwahaha.

Scrabble picnic was interesting. First time eating "lumps of fat" as Russell said about his meatballs. And I love Jessie's cottage cheese salmon dip. I feel like making it for a future picnic. Too bad it won't stay fresh for long. And my first time eating the popiah that Jieli bought like a burrito. Jane's fruits finished far too fast. And of course, Liling, my god, he is truely a very nice person. Buying us all pizza. I'm touched. And of course, playing Mega Scrabble was amusing (doubt we will ever play real scrabble with Russell again, except when the time comes maybe). Some parts could have been improved, but it was a good picnic, I think.

Survivor and Project Runway are back. OMT. I'm gonna be camping in the 48 tv lounge. Haha. Why isn't the 47 tv lounge ready yet?

Chunk Fest

Ben & Jerry's Chunk Fest! Whoops!

Our picnic spread. Jelly hearts and cranberry juice from Fionne, Absolutely Yummy Nuggets in the red tupperware and cucumbers and tomatoes from Hui, Tuna and Ham sandwiches from Min with tomatoes she specially cut herself. Cookies from me and Carol bought snacks too.

Chunk Fest was held at Marina Barrage. My first time here.

The Ben & Jerry's ice cream booth. They had really nice servers who will introduce the menu and then help you get the ice cream you want. Unfortunately, by the time the ice cream arrives, it's half melted. Not really worth my $4.50, you know?

Hui & Fionne enjoying their limited edition ice cream. =)

Min.
The sun was so bloody HAWT though. My whole body is like lobster-red.

Fionne with her present.

Random kite that I took a picture of in the sky. Lots of people brought their kites to Marina Barrage too.

=)

Hui Min with her present.

Hui Min wearing one of her presents - so cute. Hehz.

Group pix without Carol yet.

Min & me.
I met Steff, Mark and Julia too. Ooh. Learnt that somebody from office went over to EDB. Hmmz. Everybody's leaving.
Chunk Fest was a real Sweat Fest. Haha. Or maybe we are just not picnic people. But I did think the pot luck idea was rather good. End up never eat too unhealthily.
My watermelon juice. I needed that icy drink manz.

Carol & Hui Min.

We had MOF for dinner. Carol with her unagi rice.

Hui & me with my California Maki.

Hui Min with her tempura bento.

My Tonkotsu ramen. Soup very nice. But like not enough meat.

Hui & her prawn balls bento rice set.

My dessert - I love soft serve ice cream. =D
Happy days, can't wait for the next outing - which Min & Dom are organising, right? Western?

Every Friday, it rains.

I feel so Andy Lau & Carol Chu in this photo. Haha. Too bad my mask doesn't have cute cartoon characters on it. Photo taken when we went for JW's routine check-up plus physio for his collar bone fracture. Wah. I got super pissed at his physio cuz we were made to wait for 2 hours, without the staff there showing any care or concern. And all because THEY misplaced his case file. Like what the hell, go and check after an hour of waiting can. They only checked after I approached them. I was so pissed I hammered a complaint letter on JW's lappie while on our way back in the train. Dunno if JW sent yet. My mood wasn't aided by the fact that my team mate is moving to hall 3 and even dinner at my all-time favorite Soup Restaurant failed to make me feel happier. They didn't have lotus root soup. =( And I didn't jog because they blocked the track already.

Yesterday we watched Race to Witch Mountain, which was lame. I love the super powers but there were so many loose ends throughout the whole thing. Anyhow, the guy who played Seth should just go and play Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter, since the current guy playing Draco is just too old.

And it always rains on Fridays. Which pisses me off totally, because I always do my laundry on Fridays. Damn.

Minds Cafe

Went gaming with JW and his family on Sunday at Minds Cafe. The service wasn't that remarkable, because there was this Filipino waitress who kept dropping things and not apologising for it and this other waiter who was rather draggy. Anyway, I like gaming. And their main course offer at $6 was rather worth while plus gaming from 2pm - 7pm with free flow of drinks at $7.50 wasn't all that expensive. Although, I did think that 8 people is a tad too many. Played Pictureka, Taboo, the Monkey Jenga thing, Saboteur, Dinosaur Bones etc. I always didn't like to play Taboo cuz I always had the impression that it was lame and stupid, but it was alright lahz. And I like the purple Bob toy that came with Taboo. And we thought of the funniest forfeits - going table by table and going yam seng was very funny. Haha. Pix up on FB.

Then dinner was at Waraku. =) I like my mini bowl of tomato seafood ramen. Eating at Waraku reminds me of Edelman and us interns having cool-down lunches at Waraku. Fond memories. Too bad things have changed.

Over the weekend, I visited a new cafe near my place that serves the best Snickers flavoured gelato. Yums. They have a gelato and waffles buffet going at $16.50. I shall organise something soon. Right after Hui Min and Dom's Jap/Western gig and after we get excited by the word ice cream again (since we will be at Chunk Fest where there will be truckloads).

Did I mention that Monday was a super tiring day and I only hope that tomorrow will be better? =) Jiayou, jiayouz! And if you do not have time, please just say so - DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT IGNORE ME AND ROLL YOUR EYES UP INTO THE SKY AND JUST CONTINUE CHATTERING AWAY!!!

Happy Birthday roomie! And to Hui Min later. See you peeps at Chunk Fest.

This is what JW looks like when he is sleeping. Notice that he is sleeping on the fake parquet flooring - cuz he is particular about being super duper clean before one lies on the bed. And notice the black jacket that he used to cover his eyes - cuz I wasn't asleep yet and all the lights were on. And why were we all not asleep? Cuz some people was taking a nap at 8pm at night.

-_-"

Thank You CY!

All I can say is thank you CY for the treat and that all friends who are working should be just as nice and auto invite us for a treat.

We ate here. It's opposite tian tian huo guo.

Chose chicken soup and tom yam.

With all the liao.

And this is the guo tie we will always camp for. Everytime a new plate comes out, it would be gone within minutes.

YL & CY.

Da Ge & HQ/Da Sao.

San Ge & me.

Fun night talking about bamboo poles and African men and pandas. And of course, moobs and bras for men. Missed Jessie.

Spotted Eric and Dinesh.
And I think video games are becoming cooler and cooler. They have this new Gundam game capsules where there is like 3D effect and all. It's $5 a pop though.

Handsome Suit

Managed to catch the Jap movie "Handsome Suit" during Tuesday on JW's lappie. It's about this chef, Taturo who looks like a pig and is nicknamed Baturo (meaning pig). It doesn't help that he digs his nose when he is deep in thought. He has been rejected by countless of women and many shun him. Enter the "Handsome Suit" - a trial programme that he has been specially selected for. Soon, he is so handsome that he becomes a top male model and even attracts the eye of a hot female model. But he finds himself increasingly enjoying the company of his shop assistant, who isn't much of a looker. Soon, this double life starts to get to him as the handsome suit is only a trial model and cannot take hot water. As he is having so much fun being a top male model and facing prejudice from others about his looks, he decides to go for a permanent suit.

I like the movie. It's quite hilarious.

No date Wednesday cuz of FYP. Attending rally was quite fun. Boring at times (Yong Kun told me it was like attending a 2 hr lecture. Haha). Interesting quotes that I will always remember. Liling said if I wanna have fun, join sports, if I wanna win a gold medal, join rec. Haha.

And then Thursday was polling day. Here's wishing the 16th JCRC all the best.

Damn. I washed my clothes and it looks like it's gonna rain. =(
