The One About Movies I watched recently

I love Wednesdays. Especially if Thursday is Union Day and classes till 230pm are cancelled. =D

Anyway, yesterday the boyfriend and me went all the way to Expo for the John Little Mega Warehouse Sale. Actually, I think the prices aren't very much cheaper. Haha. And we spend most of our time on the way to Expo sleeping on the train. Before that, we had lunch at Coffee Bean with the FOC coupons. But I think not very hua also lahz. Spent a lot of money, get $3 discount only.

After shopping, we came back all the way to JP and discovered John Little at JP. -_-"

Watched "The Proposal", which didn't have a proper ending cuz I felt that they didn't tie up the loose ends. But it's funny at certain parts. =)

And then I went back and played Scrabble and Boggle. First time since IH. Haha.

Ended the night at an unhealthy 3+ am cuz was watching "Night at the Museum 2". I love all the museum exhibits. Haha. Too bad some of them became like minor characters - like Teddy and Rex and that Pharoah fella. But the new characters are hilarious and SO CUTE - the Einsteins - DAMN CUTE and that red rabbit balloon thingy that keeps bouncing about - priceless. I couldn't tell that Amelia Earhart was played by the "Shopaholic" woman till she sported long hair again. But I love her accent.

Happy Union Day!

The one where I admit my uselessness

I think I'm becoming sentimental and useless. =(

Yesterday was Hall 9's annual "WASHING DAY" cum Block Supper. I was really full so I didn't eat much but there was apple crumble and cake and fruit tarts and ice cream. All sorts of yummy goodness. And then the choosing of block reps and the washing began. Where Kah Wee and me frantically twisted newspaper to put underneath the gap in our door. I never join in the fun. I don't know why. I think I think I'm too old. Do you geddit? Haha. And then the waiting to go out to the bathroom while listening to all the screams outside which went on for more than an hour. I think my neighbour, who did not used to belong here, was freaking mad when she returned and her door and everything was wet (We tried to cover her laundry with plastic though). And she slammed her door very loud and everything and gave a super black face. But I can't do anything about it.

And Andrew just told me that they spelled Boggle as boogle. Damn hilarious. Haha.

And the swimming with the VJ peeps is cancelled. Cuz nobody wanna come to Jurong. =( Oh well, I guess I have to find other ways to lose weight.

The One where I go on and on about Miss Universe 2009

Yes, I am lucky, lucky. I have one more day off than the average Singaporean. And that one day gave me a chance to watch the Miss Universe pageant 2009.

I love the pageant, cuz it seems like a fairytale come true (And no, I will never join one. And I know that I don't meet the height or weight or body requirement), what with all the glitz, glamour and curly hair (CURLs are so in... everyone has them. I only saw one short hair girl, I think Miss Columbia?).

Observation 1: CURLY HAIR
Observation 2: Miss Kosovo really looks like Audrey Hepburn.
Observation 3: There were no Asians in the top 15. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU JUDGES?!
Observation 4: Miss Photogenic is always won by either Miss Thailand or Miss Phillipines. I guess people in Asia go online very often.
Observation 5: Out of the top 5 contestants, I think only Miss Australia could speak perfect English. The rest needed translators. And if English was/is the universal language, the new Miss Universe (Miss Venezuela) had better learn fast.
Observation 6: Miss Universe 2008 (Venezuela too!) was so excited about her compatriot winning the crown that she threw the crown on her head causing it to drop on the floor and jumped around like a little girl. Where is the poise, my dear?
Observation 7: It's related to Observation 6. Venezuelans have a lot of national pride. When asked what is her most memorable moment during her reign, Miss Universe 2008 said that it was bringing the crown back to her country after 12 years. O-K-A-Y. Enough patriotism already. What about using the title to help poor, traumatised people or something?
Observation 8: I think Miss Australia has a tummy (I'm being mean at this point) and so do a lot of other contestants. But I'm sure it's all about a healthy body image nowadays what with anorexia and all that.

I think everybody should be given the same question and have their ears covered so that they can't hear each others answers. That would be fairer. And it's so fun thinking for the contestants what would be a better answer and giving a "huh?" look when you felt that they didn't answer the question.

And I will always, always be proud of Miss Universe 2007, Riyo from Japan. =D
Oh well, till next year.

The one with photos from JF

A nicer couple pix from our resident photog JF =D

Rather unglam flighty shot.

The One with the Traffic Light Theme that we did not follow

Before Hall 9's DND 2010, I went to the SMU flea with Jessie. First time ever that I went to a flea. And I spent like $44.50, but I'm super pleased with my purchases. One grey flower tunic, one blue dress with cards, one angel wings ring and my favorite, one flower-patterned blue romper which Kah Wee says looks like curtains, but I know he's just jealous or something. Wet blanket! I wanna go to a flea again - please invite me if you are going to a flea. =D

And then Hall 9's DND which was held at NLB's The Pod. Really really nice place to host an event. Like small wedding reception kind of place (in case I got no money for Grand Hyatt). Too bad the event has to end sharply at 11pm, according to library rules. Anyhow, the theme of the night is Les Lumiere, but nobody told Kah Wee and me. So, the only thing moderately red on me is my pedicure.

Hall Pres, Mike and me.

Ex hall pres Hong Wei and me.

My favorite lorry driver, Han Ming and me.

Da Ge & me.

Welfare Sec, Teck Wu & me.

DND Chair Number 1 Sam and me. You know the game Traffic Lights? Yah, we are red. Although that doesn't stop some boyfriends from grabbing green plates and cups and trying to catch the attention of xiao mei meis. Not that I care or anything.

Xue Shen (maybe future DND Chair) & me.

This Rubicks cube key ring is the door gift for tonight. Me like!

Kah Wee and me. He looks like he has such small little eyes here.

Xin Yu (2006 Hall Queen) and me. (My arm looks gigantic here. =()

Stage.

Yummy buffet. Wish I had the chance to go for second or third helpings.

Dessert was a fruit platter and hot bubor cha cha (which I really like). But this is Kah Wee's plate. Some people only took the longans. Tsk tsk.

Hansel & me.

The night view from up here at The Pod. =D

Hong Wei & Xiao Yan.

CPs - me, Gary & Yan Lin.

Jessie popped by. =D

Xiao Yun & me.

And good night, folks!

The One with My Toes

My pedicure from two Sundays ago. Taken while waiting for the always crowded, always slow Bus C. And my flats from Korea, which are still surviving, though they hurt the back of my feet sometimes and the cloth inside has already come out.

Forgot to upload photos

Pix that I finally got to uploading. National Day Lunch with my FADIS peeps, Michelle, Dick and WeiShan. I wonder if RCY still has interschool activities. I think it's beneficial to know people from outside your school through courses such as FADIS.

Michelle (whose hair has grown oh so long I'm jealous) and Dick (Teacher in training).

WeiShan (who shall now be known as the Brave One, who travelled around America herself) and me (not that brave). We had lunch at IchiBan and everyone very nicely gave me the receipt so that I could claim chops. =D

Desserts from MOF: Dick's treat for being late. I prefer the normal ice cream to the ocha ice cream.

One final group pix!
And at long last, I managed to pull my lazy self up for a pedicure. =D See everyone in school!

Too polite or something

Who says Singapore youths are apathetic have obviously not read yesterday's ST and have obviously not seen the interesting discussion on FB about old people and their obnoxiousness.

I obviously have not been reading much ST either. Apparently, you now can be fined for drinking plain water and you can be fined for sitting on a priority seat in the train. I think all this fining business is shit. It is definitely not the way to teach young people that you shouldn't do this or that if not you risk incurring a fine. Then people won't do the "bad thing" period, but not because they decided on their own accord that it is a "bad thing", it's just cuz they are short of cash. One thing idiotic about this country is that the gahmen sometimes act as though we need to be taught everything and that leads to us being lazy and letting our minds being ruled by a fines system. How juvenile. No wonder everyone laughs at us.

I beg to differ that pole-dancing should not be allowed during NDP. Scaredy-Cat MediaC orp did not dare to show the whole pole-dancing act; just showing us a 2 second snippet of the whole thing because of the fear of complain letters it would bring, I suppose. And really, pole dancing is damn tough to do can, and it should be treated as an art form and as a sport. What they are showing during NDP isn't meant to seduce anybody. It is just pole aerobics and people complaining on ST should go get a life manz. What is wrong with sexy, confident, atheletic women showing you how strong they are? You are just jealous that when you try to swing up a pole, your big butt pulls you right back down.

I lost my red market pen

I spilled curry on my lappie.

I lost my red marker pen.

My new room has lots of mozzies.

BUT...

I cleaned it up with my free Gatsby wet wipes.

I have a Popular stationery voucher.

I squashed a mozzie in my sleep with the back of my foot (i know it sounds terribly gross).

JP's 24hr place doesn't have the beancurd and you tiao store anymore. =( The new class seems like a lot of work.

My Last Year

So begins my last year in hall, my last year in school. I'm in my spanking new single room, feeling all upset because the pantry next to my room is under renovation still and I doubt it would ever be done. The lounge downstairs is also not done yet, so no newspapers. And I don't really appreciate the floors in my spanking new room, no matter what anybody says. It's not real wood, stop pretending.

Personally, I think the 822 pledge moment is rather dumb. Like another way for the gahmen to get all of us to do something together. Although my mother got all excited about it and started making me recite the pledge to her so that she will remember. And it's weird cuz I only remember it if I read it through once and I can't remember anymore if like you stop me in mid-chant.

Met up with Michelle Chan, Wei Shan and Dick over the weekend for National Day lunch at Ichiban Boshi and then dessert at MOF. Fun laughing and talking about all our overseas adventures and then I bought a pair of havianas, they had that 50% NDP discount thing going on. Pix up next weekend, my cam's not with me.

Watched "Up" over the weekend. Hilarious. Do catch it.

Random link that San Ge sent me. He sends me the weirdest stuff.

My Last FOC

My last FOC went by in a flash.

I guess I'm glad I came back to help out - made more friends, made better friends (Although, I think JJ won't return me much money =()

And I'm amazed at myself for sleeping 12 hours straight. So gross.

And I like Jessie's note about Hall 9.

A million gazillion thoughts are flowing thought my head now - there are so many things that I have to do - clean my room, get ready for school, get ready grfw minutes and research.

I think my final year will go by in a flash too.

Happy National Day! Don't go to City Hall.

National Day Blues

One shouldn't go to the City Hall area on Saturdays during July. Especially if you are wearing red and white.

In other weiwei news, I got to eat steamboat =).

And I feel lucky and happy. Hopefully, I can feel this way forever. How do you make the heart shape thingy on the comp?
