Vroom vroom...
Rally and elections are over. 4 more days till I step down. Jeremy said that if in your freshie year, you were not part of the jcrc, you got to join more things and basically have more fun. I think I have to agree with that. But being part of the jcrc taught me a lot and I would miss having my own private key to the jcrc room, free access to the meeting room, the conference room and the music room and of course, photocopying and chit-chatting with Joyce and Mr. Leong. In hindsight though, I don't think I'll ever regret these two years, throughout the shit and all. JCRC or not jcrc, I love hall. And yay, finally, it's time for me to join subcomms. Thankfully, among my nua senior friends, I have Jessie, who wants to join rec subcomm with me. Hope we make it in. =)
Eatting at Ikea was nice. Jessie and me came to the conclusion that Ikea furniture is perfect for hall life. Haha. Nice, cheap and don't really last super long. I love Ikea food, seriously. Even though I can't eat their meatballs. I like everything else.
I have been having too many heart to heart talks with people. So many till that for the past week, I've been sleeping super late, like 3-5am. I'm screwing up my body clock, seriously. The other day, I was so shagged, I woke up at 12pm. Tianz. Never in my life have I been that disgusting. I resolve to have lesser htht and more sleep. But *shrugs*, I like htht. Sigh.
And, I couldn't have been more suay. I must complain. Rahz! I forgot to bring my contact lense case back home. =( So I decided to go buy contact lense solution, cuz they give free cases. I brought back a box and to my utter dismay, discovered that one side of the case had no cover. One of those packing faults. Sianz. I mean, the percentage of such packing faults can't be very huge, right? I am so suay.
Today, I went on an individual grooming session (cuz I'm sad and lonely and have no friends). Did my nails (one of them chipped already though. =() and went for eyebrow shaping at Jean Yip (cuz my regular little india place wasn't open yet). I have this stupid pimple, which has yellow pus and all and I have the strongest, strongest urge to squeeze all the yellow stuff out. But I think I'm gonna wait till Monday. Wait till it's not that raw. Then there will be less chances of scarring. And I hate my hair. I feel like rebonding all over again. =( Insecurities plague the best of us sometimes. And I'm not the best, so they plague me all the time.

sianz
Today was my kfc lunch date with charissa and jane. Quite fun. Since we like hardly ever go out before. We all ordered cheesy bbq melt thing under Jane's recommendations and we were all very very full after that. Talked rubbish. Haha. Gossipped. And talked about girls. One thing in common about the three of us is that we all like to look and talk about pretty girls. Haha.
Okay, we must seriously go out more often and what about that tea party with the mini stuffed toys? Haha.
Can't wait for thursday when I will be going Ikea with Jessie. Whoopee!

Food Trail
We travelled by public transport to our next destination, Geylang, where we walked for quite a bit (cuz we got lost), all the while cracking jokes on starting a new business venture which involved my Hall 9 brothers and me and had to do with pimping and a whole lot of social responsibility. Haha. Our whole group was involved, from Fionne (auditor), Qun (psychologist) to YL (ic of CPFs of our employees). Doing PR for the company and talking about lizards with bombable tails as bouncers was damn funny.
At Geylang, we went to the famous Yong He for tau huay and giant you tiaos and xiao long baos. Yumms! We even had durian at the end. And then we travelled back to Esplanade Park, which is the meeting place.
No objectives, no need to rush, just a lot of good food, conversation and fun. Totally different from how I spent 9-5 last year. I think I'm just not interested in being a GL. Wish we could have gone Settlers again though. But kudos to Jieli and Stanley for organizing this event. Photos are with KB and Alan.
I wanna start thinking about grad trip and I'm glad I have travelling buddies in the form of the Hall 9 Year 4s come 2009/2010. I don't want to think about how maybe we all will have no hall to stay during our final 6 months in hall due to the Youth Olympics 2010 though. Maybe I don't even have to worry about that because Year 3 Sem 1 may be my last Sem in hall, so I shall attempt to enjoy every single bit of it. Whoo!

totally unplanned drinking session
Pre-event preparations included HW picking me up from school (wahz, never happen to me before. JW, I don't mind even if you pick me up with your bicycle) and we went Sheng Siong to stock up on paper cups and mixers. Ribena came with two free popsicle makers. I so happy! =D
At 10+ (hall people have no time concept, seriously), we settled in the 47 lounge and watched olympics. I mean, I don't know how to mix anything what. Drank a bit of heineken, which doesn't require mixing. And then the people with the vodka and everything else arrived. Yeah!
Halfway while we were bored of just drinking aimlessly, CY and YL went to fry nuggets (mmmz). Somebody, who we wanted to bounce out came in, but our bouncer wasn't doing her job. Tsk. Lucky he left soon after. And then after all the nuggets were finished (i *heart* nuggets), we played Indian Poker for a bit, but the drinking was kind of slow and we wanted to finish the alcohol. So we played some drawing of card game, which I find very fun.
Here are the rules that I remember:
If you draw a King, all the guys at the table drink.
If you draw a Queen, all the girls at the table drink.
If you draw a Jack, you set a topic (like cars and we have to go mitsubishi, toyota and so on and so forth. If you can't think of a car brand, you drink).
If you draw a 10, you are the thumb master (and people who don't follow your thumb actions drink).
If you draw a 9, you have to say BITCH after every sentence, or you drink.
If you draw a 8, that's a toilet pass (cuz we aren't allowed to go to the toilet).
If you draw a 7, you play 7-up (all multiples of 7, or numbers that contain 7, you say UP, or else you drink).
If you draw a 6, you cannot talk to anyone, or you drink.
If you draw a 5, nobody can talk to you, or they drink.
If you draw a 4, you drink.
If you draw a 3, the person on your left drinks.
If you draw a 2, you choose a person to drink.
If you draw an A, you set a rule (like everytime I drink, all the guys around the table must drink too).
I think basically, we drink and drink somemore. Haha. JJ and Winston, our two bartenders were extremely busy throughout the game.
Post event stuff include Jasper, Jeremy and me walking unsteadily back to 48 with a table, and unfinished drinks.
My Baileys is still unfinished. Sigh... Another round!
Random fact that I learned during drinking, if you drink Baileys and you puke, you get curdled milk. I don't know if that's true though and I don't plan to find out. Haha.

Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Then the three of us went shopping. Felt like I had 2 bodyguards. Haha. But I bought shoes; heels; i was in a bimbo mood. =) Very belated birthday present from my little bro. Thanks, wj. We saw a uber cute mini mj set which had its own customised table. And you could make the peng peng sounds with it (cuz what's mj without the sound of the tiles? No feeling ahz!). It was the cutest cutest thing. But it costed $108, at Pandora's Box in Cine. =( I think it's not very worth, but oh, to be able to MJ on the size of a scrabble board. Sigh... It was nice bringing wj out though and I'm glad that the mood wasn't that awkward. Boring sometimes (because only I seem to be shopping), but not weird. Thanks, jw.
After that we went for dinner with the parents at Ichiban Sushi, where we spent a hellueva money. Cuz JW and me won an $80 voucher. Whoohoo! And thinking that we had a lot of money, we ordered like a lot (but we managed to finish it lehz. I think the over ordering of sashimi did us in). But I had a good time.
I'm sorry I didn't go Mediacorp to catch tuzi though. =( sorry joyce. I did vote and I did catch some of your performance. And I'm very happy that you made it into the next round. People, vote for tuzi!

President Scholars & Fireworks
Secondly, has elitism drove us to such an extent that for one person's sake, we deprive many from the enjoyment of fireworks? (I really really love fireworks! =) As the commentator said during NDP, "fireworks bring out the child in you") Sure, a scholarship is important, it just means one more future government official who studied abroad. (I still love you, Michelle Chan. Don't be mad at me.)
The reality is that while a lot of middle-incomed families can send their children abroad to study, there are not many of us who can afford to send up fireworks into the sky for our individual enjoyment. I think nowadays a lot of families in Singapore do not need the scholarships. They are not poor to that extent. The children just do better in school. I hope all these future government officials think of other cost-cutting measures (such as lowering their pay) before considering taking away fireworks from the rest of us.

Youth Olympics 2010
Ooh, forgot to mention that I love Singapore and every year during NDP when they sing "Majulah Singapura", I tear a little. Seriously. Happy 43rd Birthday, Singapore! Although I must admit that I fell asleep during the performance part of the show and woke up just in time for the fireworks. What can I say? I like army men in uniform more. Haha. =P
The Youth Olympics 2010 coming to NTU came as a shock to me. It was so sudden, the move. I'm not sure if what I read was correct, but the move to NTU was about saving money (oh but wait, they spent a 6 figure sum changing the direction of The Flyer -_-") and hinging on the resources that we already have. I wished that if we knew that we had not enough money in the first place(I mean, we surely had factored in inflation, right?), then we shouldn't have bid for the Youth Olympics. I, as much as any Singaporean, was proud that our country beat Moscow to be the first Youth Olympics holding ground. I mean, we will be in the history and record books. But this move to NTU will delay the school term for 2 months. 2 months! Meaning school will start in October and end probably late December.
Okay, I know my gribes are about the little things, but it's the little things that matter to the little people in NTU. What about IHG, what about ISG? What about FOCs? And, where are the hall residents going to sleep while the foreign sports delegates use up the 16 halls? The streets, I suppose. I mean, who cares about us, right?
Perhaps this is a government decision. But it did cross my mind that NTU wanted the Youth Olympics to come.
Maybe someone will solve all these small problems soon, maybe the problems are solved already, maybe they don't think it's a problem. I know I would have graduated by 2010 anyways. But it just pains me to know that hall culture is being increasingly eroded away by things like holding up the bottomline.
I'm just a little girl and I may not know what I'm ranting about or that I may not have any business sense (since Youth Olympics 2010 is going to bring in money). But I do know that we shouldn't be made to evacuate our rooms or give up IHG or hall culture. I mean, that's what NTU wants to promote to the freshies, right? Hall culture? If not, why allow all freshmen a room? Okay, my two cents worth is done.
I'm going to rant about how some scholar thinks that by putting up one less firework in the sky, we will be able to produce one more scholar next. Wait for it.

clubbing, manhatten X2
Went out with the PT clique on Friday night. Thought that I would be getting my pay, but it turns out that the others aren't working that much there too. Apparently there's an influx of new FTs. Ate at Manhatten Fish Market in Central and then walked all the way to Esplanade to chill out at Harry's. PT clique was as usual all darn funny. One memorable convo topic. "Do you have a 6 pack?" "Yes." pause "When I was in NCC, I had a 6 pack." Silly Soon Ning. NCC was 4 years ago.
At Harry's, there was no seats at first, so we had to sit on uncomfortable high stools and arched our heads if we wanted to catch the Olympics opening. Took so so long for Singapore to came out. And I really think that the waitresses at Harry's could have better product knowledge. When I ask them what was sweet and I took their recommendation, it turned out to be a glass of pure hard liquor. =( Damn sad. When I asked them what was inside so and so drink, they tell me they don't know. Isn't this basic knowledge? Knowing your product?
By the way, I'm pissed that because of the Youth Olympics, NTU is starting its semester 2 months later, although I would have graduated by then. I thought it was 2 weeks at first, but wahz, 2 months is really a long time. Shall rant about this issue another day.

Mummy 3
I really must thank my xiao programmers. We are a tiny but efficient bunch! I can never cease to be amazed at the speed they clear a place. I must thank my 8 mcps, who without them I won't have been able to cope. And of course, YAN LIN, for always handling all log matters. And HUI QUN, for holding the fort when I'm down. Chao Ji Programmers, Programmers so Good! Once a programmer, always a programmer. Memories frm FOC08 will follow me through my life.
I think the thing that amazes and delights me the most is that JW enjoyed FOC08, and he say that camp made him more interested to join hall stuff. Cuz he's a super tough nut to crack, so I'm just all happy about it.
Today, JW and me went to catch "Mummy 3", which was full of CGI stuff. I thought they were a bit lame and stupid. Very unreal. Pretty good plot though. Some of the actors' chinese sucks. And who would believe that Brendan Fraser had a son that big. I give it 2 and 1/2 stars out of 5. Haha.
I'm terrified that I'm taking too many AUs. Help, help!
