the final 2 weeks!

hi hi hey hey..

Its been ages since i last posted. It is roughly the final 2 weeks of my student life. The big 10 units project is finally done and dusted. Thank God.

I had the project presentation this past Monday. A lot of thoughts ran through my mind preceding that day. Main reason is I have not done any presentations yet this semester. I thought I would be real rusty and would have trouble calming my nerves. Basically a ton of negative thoughts accompanied me days preceding that Monday.

However, I survived thus, I can pretty much sum the conclusion up that my brain has the tendency to exaggerate negative thoughts pretty badly. I don't know. How about yours? hahaha..

Anyways, a MAJOR phase(Student) of my life is coming to an end. Now, its time to face the REAL world I guess. On one hand, I am actually quite excited. Why?
  • At last I can do what I want(hopefully) to do.
  • It'll be the time when stuff I do will directly impact the society. Studying never offers you that.
  • You get to earn your own money.
On the other hand, its a SCARY! Why?
  • Only 2 weeks of leave per year! Its a far cry from what uni students have, which is about 4 to 4 and 1/2 months of free time.
  • Waking up early! 9 to 5. Damn the long days. LOL. If I were to work in a demanding workplace, I'd even work later. Never mind that, compare the 9 to 5 with a uni's student daily life. We NEVER have 9 to 5 classes. Most classes start late. Days finish earlier.
Hahaha.. anyways that's life. Gonna face it sooner or later? Another alternative is just to be a vegetable that is slowly rotting. Do nothing, goyang kaki. I know quite a number of veges. Seems like veges can definitely survive in such a relaxed country as Brunei.

And another random thing , my left ankle started to hurt again after a light workout I had just now. Crap. Its been about half a year since I sprained it. It took ages to heal at first. 2 months I think! In comparison to Rooney, who sprained his ankle but healed in 5 days! What's more, until today, this damn ankle still 'complains' once in a while. It is really frustrating!

Jingles! No its Shingles!

Hey folks, its been a while since I've uploaded a post. :)

Anyways..

About a week ago, I had these electric-shock/sunburnt/pricking/tingling/burning sensation over my upper left side of my body (upper arm and also the chest and back ) whenever anything touched it. It even hurts when shirt lies on top of it! I usually presume pricking sensations with blood circulation problems over the particular area, so I went for the Osim feet massage machine hoping that that would cure it.

But then nop, that did not help..

I tend to get overimaginative at times and that did not help. I was thinking of all the possible causes of this. I went online and read stuff on this. Possibilities were poor blood circulation, stroke, shingles, neuro-smth, bla bla.. couldn't remember a lot of it by now. Haha

The next morning it still felt painful, thus I went to the doc. Doc says its probably an over-sensitive nerve, thus I was prescribed only Vitamin Bs.

Next day, the pain started piercing right into my chest. You know the left side of your chest lies the heart! I initially thought it was just a psychological thing, me imagining stuff, and I tried to ignore it. Hell no, it just kept contracting, piercing. Damn it hurts till my buddy Foo, tried to help by googling "Symptoms of heart attack"! Thanks Foo for "calming" me down hahaha..

Just to be safe, went to the doc again!! LOL. Now doc says muscle thingy, thus was prescribed only muscle relaxants. Those did definitely did help..

However the next day I started to notice small red spots over those "sunburnt" areas. Oh shyt, I suddenly recalled that these are very similar to the symptoms of shingles!! Alright, as sucky as it is to the wallet, I've gotta go to the doc tomorrow!

The next day absolutely sucks. Woke up with a freaking headache. Got extremely intense after about a couple of hrs of waking up. I remember I could hardly WALK. I felt these contraction pains on my stomach area and both my kidneys. Every step I took felt like some kid kicking on my kidneys! No kidding! Oh yeah, met the doctor, and this time, I was officially diagnosed with shingles! Hooray! I was really tired and had fever that night. Pure torture.

Anyways, thank God, I felt much better the next morning and managed to head to class. A bit nauseous and headache added on to the burning pain but I managed to get through the day.

What timing Mr Shingles. I have so much to do at hand atm, plus CNY is just 2 days away. I want to quickly recover for CNY and one of the ways is to Rest rest rest.. But how is that possible?! I have some stuff to do. So am contemplating whether 2 just push through and risk a slow recovery or just REST...

Just-so-that-u-would-not-be-afraid-of-me FACTS of SHINGLES!
  • It is caused by the same virus which causes chicken pox. And, chickenpox virus never leaves the body once you had them. It only stays dormant. Which also means that every chickenpox-ed person has this virus. So it doesnt spread. It'll only spread to a non-chickenpoxed person.

  • When the chicken pox virus is activated, one get shingles.

Welcome year 2010!

Happy New Year people!

Hope everyone had a great NYE celebration. No more standing in the cold waiting for fireworks this year for me, however, just had a modest yet extremely joyous one for me this year.

Anyways, I really liked this quote I stumbled upon somewhere on Facebook :

"Every one welcomes new year. Half of the population celebrates new year. One quarter sets goals but only one in a million works towards goals. We only live this life once. Why want to worry about petty things then? Lets wake the spirit in us and work towards our GOALS. May 2010 turns out to be your most auspicious year"

Yeah! Wake up the spirit and Jiayou people! Let's have a great year!

life ain't fair

This a spur-of-the-moment post, so I might possibly regret this in the future, but heck who cares, Im only human.

Anyways here is my thought:

(Note: The 'want' used here only mean materialistic wants, to a very small extent)

Life's unfair, as some people do nothing and seem to have so much. Some work so hard, and yet seem to have nothing. Seemingly what they want always seem miles ahead or seemingly impossible to achieve in their lifetime. They review their lives to find what have done wrong? Oh wait, they made sure their egos are in check when reviewing too. And still they cannot find it. They look around for help, try to fix the situation, mostly to no avail. And oops.. They are back to the damn fact that they are miles behind. Damn. The conclusion. Life's unfair.

Maybe God made life to humans this way? Some are meant to be 'lucky', some aren't. Maybe its karma? Maybe some were extremely evil in their past lives, they are suffering from it in their current lives. Or maybe there are no such notions. Maybe life turns out how one wants it to be. It is up to you. But wait, only those 'lucky' ones say these I suppose, those that do not know what those 'unlucky' ones have faced. But not all 'lucky' ones say this. No, not because they realize the plight of those 'unlucky' ones, its because, they feel they are not 'lucky' enough, they one their damn Prada or Porsche. Their current garage full of cars are not sufficient.

A handful of 'lucky' people would only realize the plight of those 'unlucky' people, phew. No, not yet. Some of these, usually cunningly smart ones, would feed on them, knowing the vulnerabilities that accompany these 'unlucky' ones, either making use of them. Ahh.. U see those on TV don't you? Charity drives, bla&bla foundation.. Wow.. But whether that is just a effort to gain more attention from the public, to boost their image, so they can make more money, we do not know. Or, suddenly be Mr Unlucky's best buddy when he is having one of his rare 'lucky' moments, then disappearing when Mr Unlucky is back in his lousy life.

Some evil 'lucky' ones love adding salts to the wounds of the 'unlucky', and deriving joy from seeing them suffer.

A small percentage of 'lucky' people would also realize the plight of the 'unlucky' ones. And now phew. These are the people that honestly lend a hand to those 'unlucky' ones.

Oh wait, Im going off topic. Anyways, everyone has their different opinions of a 'lucky' life. Some would mean being able to go visit ur dream destinations. Some would be, ability to buy whatever they like. Some would be having a close-knit family. Based on ur own opinions, do you agree that life is unfair?

Liverpool - Arsenal , my commentary lol

Had a lot going through my mind during the first few mins. No one to talk to. So here goes ... My thoughts throughout the Liverpool-Arsenal match:

From the 1st 20 mins:

Liverpool is dominating! They seem surprisingly quicker than Arsenal. Moving the ball faster, more accurate passes, and had a couple of shots already! Arsenal had none. I have to be honest, the current Arsenal side on the pitch seem to lack discipline/determination! We need a "Roy Keane" type of player to steel up our team, especially in midlfield. A role model. We have been playing sloppily.. Comeon guys! You're facing Liverpool!! You should know what's at stake! Wake up! Liverpool has Gerrard, Chelsea has Terry & Lampard, Man Utd had Keane and Cantona, and now Rooney.. You know such players who put play with their heart in every game.

28th Min: Why no one in the box during each Arsenal attack?! Its been a couple of times already.. Why cross if such is the case?

33th Min: Mascherano kissed Arsharvin's forehead! LOL

40th Min: Scrappy goal by Liverpool! Crappy defending by Arsenal. Almunia is definitely not at his best today. A couple of poor clearances already. Now, didnt even punched the ball out of the box, which led to the goal. It was a great Aurelio freekick nonetheless.

44th Min: Sad, we really do need taller players. Only Vermaelen could really head the ball atm.

Half-time: Poor poor display by Arsenal. No proper shots on target. Beh$$ind ball for most of second part of first half. We do not deserve to win with such a performance. :( I hope Wenger would do something to wake the team up..

47th Min: Arshavin nearly headed the ball goal-bound. Fabregas managed to get one weak shot on target.

49th Min: Great pass by Arshavin led to an Arsenal attack. Ended with Johnson sending the ball into his own net! Yes, its one-all for now. I think this match is only gonna get better from here.

52th Min: Torres makes dribbling look so effortless. Look at how he easily went passed Sagna. Its like Sagna wasn't even there!

57th Min: Saw Aquillani on the bench. Would like to see what this 20 million pound man could do.

58th Min: ARSHARVIN!!! SUPER GOAL! Sweet turn, great first touch, deadly accuracy on his shot. We're up 2 -1 !!! Woo!

64h Min: Torres seems really agitated/frustrated. Oh oh, here comes the 20 million pounds man, Aquillani.

67th Min: Abou Diaby getting ready to come on. I nearly didn't recognize him, as he has more hair now. I thought it was a new youth player.

69th Min: Diaby comes on for Walcott. Walcott was almost unseen in the second half, thus I reckon its a good move by Wenger.

72th Min: Great move by Arshavin, led to another shot on goal.

77th Min: Lots of bad passes, headers, lack of clear cut chances from both teams. Its a bit disappointing so far, entertainment-wise. I hope it changes during the final 10 mins.

78th Min: Yellow card for Arshavin. It ain't right, Agger was exaggerating the effects from challenges by Arshavin, ref!

81th Min: Another Aurelio freekick. He's had a number of them already. I think he's a good setpiece taker. Just like Baines of Everton from last night. Deadly.

85th Min: 5 mins left, seems like not much urgency shown from the Reds.

86th Min: Traore coming off for Silvestre. I think he has did a great job playing left-back today. Wenger's gonna have a headache once Clichy and Gibbs are back, considering how well Traore is playing atm.

89th Min: Another sweet turn by Arshavin, shot deflected. What's worrying is that he is limping right now. Signalling to be subbed. I hope its not anything serious.

91st Min: Ramsey on for Arshavin. Arshavin jogged to the byline. Looks fine to me. Final 3 mins!

93rd Min: LOL. Wenger intruded Benitez's area! I just realised the close proximity of the home and away teams' benches in Anfield.

94th Min: Game ends. Arsenal with 3 points! Not very convincing display though. Wasn't a great match. Guess Liverpool were a bit unlucky. lol. Anyways, what matters is the result in the end

back once agaiN! hahaha

bla bla bla....

Ages since I last made a post. Somehow it seems that as of late, I have lost interest in blogging, thanks to Twitter! Twitter is cool! I get to follow tons of people( besides friends ) that I look up to! No media interference. Just straight from em to us. People I follow include popular basketball players(how cool is that!), celebrities and also useful accounts where I can get the latest news. Another reason why I like Twitter, is that what I share on Twitter can also be shared on Facebook(changes your Fb status) through one of the many Twitter apps, Tweetdeck. Cool app, download it and see for yourself! The most obvious reason why 'tweet' is that you need not go thru' the more slower process of going to Blogger, logging in, and creating a new blog post. Lol. I think sometimes I would forget what I wanted to initially say by the time I got to the blank new post page!

Whoa.. Seems like I really like to use the 'exclamation' symbol very much. Even I wonder why.

Anyways, its been a month plus since the semester restarted. It seems to me that our uni has became more quieter. Or to be more precise, my faculty. I do not know bout the others as I have not spend much time roaming around the other faculties. Yeah, I spend most of my time at the lab working diligently on my project. Ya RITE! *sarcastic look* Weirdly, our lecturer loves to advocate staying in the lab for long hours. Hahaha.. Which brings us to the question:

Long hours in lab = Higher productivity?

Well it might be partly true.

The pros:

In the lab = No game consoles, Astro sets in the lab to distract you. Tick.
In the lab = Not at the mall. Tick.
In the lab = Not at Excapade or Sungkai Buffets. Tick.
Above factors = Coding or working on report on something productive. Tick.

The close-to-cons or cons:
In the lab = Facebooking. No-Tick
In the lab = Vocal lessons(includes chatting and even singing)! LOL. No-Tick.
In the lab = Fast downloading speed so download. No-Tick.
In the lab = Aircon-ed air, no fresh air circulation. No-Tick.
And .. In the lab = How to see babes(if any)?(exception: Foo). LOL.

Yeah, when you have the Internet as well as mates around you, you are prone to distractions as well. Besides higher risk of getting sick is one of em is. Hahaha. Just a joke. Anyways, from the above, this would mean that there should not be a direct correlation between hours spent in lab and productivity! Well, anyways, I wonder how other final year computer students work. Are there constantly being told to put longer hours in the labs as well? Or maybe, its a psychological thing, that being in the lab raises the productivity level of one automatically? Oh.. Or maybe a statistics thing, maybe the other previous batch's hours in the lab are logged and they did really well compared to batches with lesser lab hours. Or maybe its to conform to 'standards' that future computer professionals *chokes* like us *chokes again (am just re-iterating what my lecturer said alright) should spend at least a third of our day in the labs. Hahaha.. What am I getting into?

Anyways, I came across this really good song which I thought was a typical slow love ballad. Only after I searched for the lyrics, did I know it was music related to Jesus(God)! Surprised me because I used to have this belief that music related to religion would not sound as good as music related to other stuff. I don't know about you, but it sounded really good to me. Thus, guess I was wrong. Do hear! :)

back!

LOL.. Actually I have been back for about nearly a month already! Weirdly, I kept putting off time for blogging, maybe partly due to the extremely slow Internet connection here!~

Ahh well, the seemingly long 16 hrs flight from London to home wasn't that bad as it always initially seem to be. After this flight, I think there is really a difference between budget planes and the slightly more expensive ones. Hahaha. I remember back in Dec, when I was on this budget plane, and encountered turbulence which was so bad (for me only kua), I thought I might have suffered from flying phobia. However, the case was all different with RBA. At times during the flight, I didn't even realise I am on air, until you look around, and whoops, yeah ur already flying! I reckon the different flight experience would come down to the size of the plane too, as budget planes tend to be smaller. Ahh btw, the inflight food sucked. I wonder where are d days where I used to enjoy and inflight meals. Is it my palate getting pickier or is the quality of inflight food dipping?

Anyways, happy to be back home of course. The first thing which 'shooked' me of course was the weather! I remember playing ball outside on d evening I arrived. I swear I nearly suffocated! LOL. It felt like playing in a sauna room!! Only after a couple of days, or a week as a matter of fact, did I slowly adapt back to the weather here. That was not the only thing I had trouble adapting to... Unexpectedly, I had problems with food as well!!! Somehow I wasn't used to the amt. of oil found in the foods... Yeah, you know how Chinese food are.. oil oil oil!

Hmmm... possible discovery: Maybe Im one with slow adaptation!!!

But muscle-memory related stuff are not a problem. A couple of minutes was sufficient to get em in rhythm to drive my car, or shoot or dribble d ball. Fitness was way off. I think I nearly blacked out during our first ball training session!! That was how bad it was!

2 weeks after returning, H1N1 strikes Brunei! Shyt. Anyways luckily I decided to come back a bit earlier.

3 weeks... Michael Jackson passed away. Damn~ I remember back during my younger years where me n my bro would play his tape(VCR) over n over again whilst eating breakfast hahaha... I'll definitely miss this legend. One cannot explain the mark that he has left on this planet..

4 weeks have gone, and woosshh~~~ 1 more month to school!!! WHAT! There's another headache at stake that I have yet to decide on. My 4th year project!! The biggest project for any student. Gee.. God bless me, and Brunei. H1N1 please please stopppppppppppp......... *begs*

Good day ppl! =)
