FOSTV-Red, white, and blue

I don't know about all of you but it has been a miserable weekend where I live in AL. When temps are in the 100's, it is very unpleasant, especially when it is the same for days and days. Thankfully, the humidity hasn't been too terrible but it'll be back soon enough.

The Friends of Speedy TV challenge #27 is to make a red, white, and blue card. I made a patriotic card last week so I'm going a different direction this time. This challenge can be found at Home of Speedy TV.

I'm using the Pussy Willows stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps, A Heinrich Co. I colored and cut out the image (bird and branches) and popped them on the frame. I sponged the clouds with VersaMagic Summer Sky using a Stampin'Up! circle scalloped punch for the template.

I' sorry I don't know the maker of the frame. I think someone gave it to me long ago.  The rest of my recipe is at the end of the post.

Hope you'll join us this week for the challenge. Some lucky winner will receive this Mark's Finest Papers stamp set, Train Talk.

Remaining recipe:
Copics
Marianne Designs embossing/cutting folder called Frame (I sanded it with a file)
Memento Ink-Tuxedo Black
Designer paper is PTI Bitty Dot Basics

A Case of Emily and a Dryer Sheet

Finally, I got to case my blogging and SCS friend, Emily Keaton. Emily was Featured Stamper a week ago on Splitcoaststampers. She also had this wonderful tutorial I'm using posted on SCS. It is using dryer sheets and is so easy making such a pretty flower. So, start saving those dryer sheets.

I found this beautiful card of Emily's to case and it was perfect for using her tutorial. Emily's was a mini card but I decided to make an A2 size. Check out her complete set.

Emily, I hope you enjoyed your week as rock star. I'm thinking you did and should. :-)

This card covers challenges FS280 and TLC382 on SCS.

Entering challenge:
Paper Playtime-Say It With Sentiments-Anything Goes

Recipe:
Stamps-Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps, A Heinrich Co.---Daffodil Greetings (sentiment)
Ink-Memento Black
Accessories-Dryer sheets, Smooch Spritz (Emerald Sprinkle) Turquoise Stickles, stylus for making veins in leaves, pearl brad, EK Success zig zag chain punch, Spellbinders Blossom die

FOSTV-4th of July and An Award

Wow! Heat wave going on here. We hit 102 degrees on Sunday and the humidity was awful. What's new? Anyway, it sure beats winter...at least for me. I'm anxious to see what the temps are today. I'm sure it won't be much of a cool down. I was hoping tropical storm Debby would bring us some rain but the weather forecasters aren't very hopeful.

The challenge this week at Friends of Speedy TV, #26,  is to make a Fourth of July card. I used a tutorial from Splitcoaststampers to make this flower pot pocket card. I used papers, punches, and the right colors to make it a 4th of July card.

The stamp set I'm using is from Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps, A Heinrich Co. It is called Welcome Poppies. I stamped the poppies several times, colored, and cut each poppy. They were then popped on the rim and pull up card inside (see below).

The punch is EK Success Starry Night edger and the dp is Scenic Route-Liberty. I colored with Copics and used pink sorbet twine from The Twinery.

Hope you'll join us this week and link your 4th of July creation. We would love to see it. There is also this wonderful stamp set to be won by some lucky participate.

See you there...just add your card with the inlinkz tool.

Entering challenges:
Lollipop Crafts-Flowers in Bloom-card/project using flowers as focal point
Crafty Calendar Challenges-Flowers in Bloom
Card Makin' Mamas-Color Challenge-red, white, and blue
Paper Playtime-Say It With Sentiments with Anything Goes

Now, to this wonderful award from my long time friend and blogger pal:

This is the cutest award with the ladybug and I feel so honored having it come from Ellen at The Serendipitous Stamper. Wow! She is one of the best crafters around..always full of new and inspiring ideas.
We are supposed to choose 10 bloggers with fresh ideas that have blogs I admire. Ellen, I have to say when I receive awards I can never choose stampers because I know so many good ones and hate to leave anyone out so I just always say to my pals they are welcome to pick up this award if they so choose. They are all so deserving. I sure hope that is o.k., Ellen and thanks again.

I found a tutorial on making a chest online at ehow.com and took a look at the photo and made just a front with my cardstock. I had to set my sewing machine somewhere and thought this was perfect. I made a 'fabric' cloth for the top of the chest by cutting the shape and embossing. The chest was distressed for an old look. My sentiment was hand cut.

Recipe:
Stamps-I'm in Stitches
Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampabilities white
Paper: MFP Old World Gold, Bo Bunny Press-Velvet Floral dp, The Paper Studio brads for the chest

I also made this extra card for the blog hop using this same set. I went vintage with my card, something I don't do a lot. And, I had fun with it.

I have collected a few scissors over the years and my sis made me a beautiful  box that had some gorgeous gold metallic stitching on the scissors at the top of the box. That was for keeping my scissors inside. It was on my blog quite a while back. So, this set is really a lovely one for me.

CCEE Stampers-Nautical

Kathy gave the challenge for a nautical-type card this week for the CCEE Stampers. My card is a bit small being 4 x 4. It started out as a tent topper but it just wouldn't work with my larger image. So, this is it and I do like it just the same.  I love nautical cards and this makes me want to head to the beach.

I colored my boat with Copics, sponged some clouds,  and added a seashell. The images are all from a soon-to-be released set from Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company called Silly Shells. It is a super set.

Come on over to CCEE Stampers and make a nautical card..it can be a ship, lighthouse, boat, etc.
Just link up with us...we would love to see your creations.

Crepe Paper Flower for the Queen

Did I ever have fun making this card. More about that in a sec. I made my card for the newly crowned Queen for the Day on Splitcoaststampers. She is Becky aka BeckyTE and does she ever have some awesome cards. There were several I wanted to case but landed here because I wanted to make a crepe paper flower.

I found this awesome flower tutorial on Linda's Works of Heart. I shouldn't show you because hers is soooooo gorgeous. O.K., this is my first one....maybe I'll get a lot better, although I do like mine.   Linda's video  is so easy with such super instructions. I can hardly wait to make another one.

I'm entering my card into the Simon Says Stamp challenge-Anything Goes
The Cutie Pie Challenge Blog-Use Die Cuts or Punches-Used a die cut for making flower and die cuts for swirls and leaves
Divas by Design - Anything Goes

I think I'll also enter this into the HOT PINK challenge on Splitcoaststampers. Of course, that was a few days ago but that is o.k.  It is F4A118.

Paper: PTI white cs, Stampin'Up! Chocolate Chip, and unknown dp
Ink: Stampin'Up Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Spellbinder Shapeabilities Foliage die, Spellbinders Scalloped rectangle nestabilitie, Cheery Lynn Design Fanciful Flourish, Say it In Studs, crepe paper

FOSTV-Burned Batik

I tried a new technique for the FOSTV (Friends of Speedy TV) this week. That is the new challenge starting today. I had never done Burned Batik so I thought I would try it. It took several attempts for different reasons.  If you would like to try this technique, it can be found at here at Splitcoaststampers.

I'm using two stamp sets from Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company. For the butterfly in the background and the daffodil, I using a set called Daffodil Greetings. For the sentiment, I am using Dogwood Blossoms.

Rest of recipe:
Paper-Mark's Finest Paper, A Heinrich Co. -Orangie Sunset, Blue cs is unknown, white cs
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink-Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge, Peeled Paint, and Stormy Sky--Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Copics, clear embossing powder, VersaMark, Spellbinders Fancy Tags

Here is the prize to be given to some lucky winner this week. It is the North American Woods stamp set.

Come over to Home of Speedy TV and join this challenge. It's fun to try a new technique and you can choose whichever you please. Then, link up your photo. Maybe you'll be the winner.

Today's card is using the awesome stamp set, Scenic Selections. If you like making scenes for your cards, scrapbooks, etc., you'll love this set. I used four of the images from the set to make my card..trees, fence, grass along the fence, and taller grasses in the pasture.  The sentiment is from the Get Reel set featured yesterday. I stamped and stamped off part of the trees. Colored images with Copics

Recipe:

I made an extra card for the hop, going clean and simple. I thought the scene was good for a sympathy card. From the Scenic Selections set, I used a tree, fence, boulder, and grasses. The sentiment is from the Oopsy Daisy set featured on Tuesday.
I think my plaid border and mat look black in this photo but it is brown.

I love this stamp set called GET REEL. It is super for those masculine cards we need to make. I stamped my silhouette image and then sponged for water and sunrise. You know those fishermen love to get up early and out on the water. It makes an awesome card for Father's Day, birthday,  or just a general card...love that it has a father and son or grandson or maybe just a pal.

For my card, I using two stamp sets being released this week. For the daisies and sentiment, I used the Oopsy Daisy set and for the butterflies, I used a set we'll be featuring later this week, Scenic Selections. What a great set that you can use for so many things.

Recipe:
Paper-MFP 100 lb. premium cover white cardstock
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Cantaloupe (for sponging around image)
Accessories: Copics, ColorBox Victorian Parlour die cut accents (doily) adhesive sticker

I also wanted to make an altered clipboard with the Oopsy Daisy set. I picked up my clipboard at Office Depot and covered the background with a Tim Holtz Alterations bricked embossing folder. The punched border at the top is made with a Martha Stewart Laurel Leaf punch.

I stamped my image  10 times for a 3D effect, colored, cut out, and popped them on. The centers are buttons. I'm using a leaf and ladybug from the same set. It is so adorable.

Added a ribbon from Offray and the initials are chipboard that I colored with Copics.

FOSTV-Mother's Day

Monday means a new challenge for Friends of Speedy TV and this week is to make a Mother's Day card.

I really wanted all the beautiful sparkle to show on this card. I used the Mariposa Stack and that paper is always so pretty. I think most mothers like butterflies and flowers. My Mom used to have a very pretty bird cage and this reminded me of her. I no longer have my Mother but I think she would have loved this card. I have to tell you she had parakeets and I was so scared of them if they got out of the cage. I would always run to my bedroom and close the door until they were back in the cage. I didn't want them to land on me and peck. Actually, just landing on me was terrifying. Why, I don't know.  I was a scaredy-cat then and still am. LOL

If you join the challenge this week, this is the stamp set you could possibly win, Mother's Magnolias.
As you can see, this is the set I used from Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Co.

CCEE Stampers-Scallops, Flowers, and Buttons

Today's challenge at CCEE STAMPERS, given by Cindy Haffner, is to make a card with buttons, scallops, and flowers. I have it covered. My scallops are the Martha Stewart double loop border punch and I'm using a Marianne Design Creatables die called Tags & Buttons. I placed my buttons on Inchie Arts inchies so they wouldn't drown out on my paper.  My flower is a Recollections floral embellishment.  So, that covers the challenge.

My sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company and is called Sending Happy Thoughts.

I'm using a Spellbinders scalloped rectangle nestabilities and the paper is Stampin'Up! Rose Red, PTI white cardstock, and Martha Stewart Feldspar cardstock for the buttons. I don't know the designer paper.

Hope you'll join us this week  at CCEE Stampers.
