Roller Girls

Roller skating is a retro love of mine. And I recently re-discovered it. I hadn't been skating since junior high...and a couple of months ago we decided to go for family night. In my mind it was like riding a bike--something that I could do by just showing up and lacing up some skates. Turns out, however, that roller skating skills leave you without practice. In fact, the basic skill of standing up on roller skates leaves you without practice. I was shocked at how hard it was. But it was an absolute blast. And I couldn't wait to go again. So, when all 3 of my sisters were in town and we were looking for something to do with the kiddies, I suggested skating. And we had loads o' fun. And I was a little bit better--but not much.

The "big" kids were rocking the Hokey Pokey--much to the little kiddies amusement. And although the Hokey Pokey is alot of fun, what I really wanted to be able to do was to "rollerdance" like the girls who were showing off in the middle. My first reaction was to roll my eyes and laugh at them a little bit, but secretly I wanted to be moving and shaking in sync. It looked like so much fun and I was very jealous. I may have become a little bit of a starer/stalker because it amused me so much. Ah, to be young again...

As for Classic Skating, I highly recommend it. On Monday you can get the whole family in for 10 bucks {not including skate rental} and Thursday is only a dollar per hour. It's great fun--and if you decide to go call us first and invite us along {please}.

Village People

Good Idea:
Meeting up with my favorite girlies--sisters, cousins, aunts, great aunts and grandmas for a yummy lunch in Gardner Village
Not so good idea:
Taking along these little munchkins. They so don't get the concept of a quiet, peaceful visit. Thank goodness for portable DVD's and empty tables.

It was an amazing thing to have this many out-of-towners all here at the same time. Although we were missing many, we still love what we can get.

Sadly, now everybody is gone, including my new bestest baby love, Cohen. My arms are already feeling empty with him gone.

And right now I'm really craving another turkey sandwich and fries from Archibald's...

We love a celebration

Happy Birthday

...and today we had a little something to celebrate. My girl has turned 8 years old. As I was getting her hair done for church this morning she said "Mom, I can't believe how fast the years go by!" She really has no idea what an understatement that was. I am worried at how fast the future will go by. Before I know it we will be celebrating 16, then 18, then a wedding...it all makes me want to cry. I love this girl more than I ever thought possible. She has done amazing things and makes our family so complete. Happy Birthday little {big} Ashlyn!

Am I looking like I'm old enough to have an 8 year old?

Today I'm...

I know, you thought I was a football girl. And I am. But today is all about basketball. So is tomorrow and the next day and the next... I have professed my love for March Madness before and am excited to do nothing else today but mark up my brackets. And I'm feeling good this year. I can't wait to see my name at the top of the leaderboard tonight! {And as I post this BYU is losing--and that will help my bracket AND make me happy}

Creative Lass?

I have been feeling a little bummed as I've seen everybody else getting out their St. Patrick's Day decor. Admittedly, I've never been jealous before because I never thought it was that cute--but this year I've changed {maybe it's because I now know Moira, who is the St. Patty's queen}. So, I decided to get creative one boring day last week and came up with these. And I love them. But they need more "blingy" shamrocks. I've searched everywhere and can't find more of them. So, I'm hoping next year to add a little more bit o' green. But it's a good start, don't you think?

Happy St. Patrick's Day {Eve}. Wear green and make it a fun day.

Where's my groove?

I'm going to need it...

and maybe this...

at the Stadium of Fire. No, "Primetime" didn't come through for me. He obviously doesn't know the right people. So, I took the mission into my own hands. Mission in Meg's hands=accomplished. Now I think I deserve my own "Top Gun" glasses--don't ya think?

Can't wait to scream at the Jo Bros. And my girls are excited because the bros are "hotties" {in Carly's words}...seriously.

Call of Duty

This guy is on a mission. A special assignment {which should be easy with his "Top Gun" glasses}. Whatever you want to call it-- it is super important.

The mission? To find and get me 4 tickets for the Stadium of Fire and these boys...

Because my girls would be in heaven {okay, and me too}. And because we had so much fun last year.

The worry? That tickets will sell out faster than last time {12 minutes}. So my special agent {"Primetime"} is working undercover to try and seal the deal beforehand {I've been told, by said undercover agent, that it's all about who you know--we'll see how that works out for us...}
