Its Friday already, shall do a long post for my holiday!14/3/09The begining of prefect camp! Woke up at 5 plus and travel to school, most of the prefects and CMC ppl had reach already. Went to staffroom to take the prefect tee shirt and give out to those prefects that havent collect them yesterday as they are suspose to wear it for the camp.
After attendance taking and other administration work, we board the bus and head down to the harbour. We are given our white cards and our ship boarding pass for our entry to Batam. We started queuing to board the boat/yatch, for some reason there was a delay and all of us got out of the queue and sat down to wait again. Took this time to do some homework of mine, while listening to chee kuan's MP3 which i borrowed from him. For unknown reason, most of the music in the MP3 are not my type and I just keep skipping until i find something nice, hahaz!
Soon after, we went to clear custom and board the boat/yatch which is called Sea Raider 2, weird name eh! Slept in the boat/yatch as i slept late last night.
We reached Batam and check in to the hotel, share room with Cheekuan, Saiful and Jun Hao. Afterwards, we proceeded down to the beach there for a telematch. Played some ice breaking games and stuff.
And it was lunch time already! We headed down to the hotel's buffet area,the variety of food is not very huge but the food is still considered as quite good.
We headed down to the Orphanage by bus. I saw around 8 children selling newspaper on the road junction to the driver in the cars that drive by. It is more real than I think, was not expecting them to be so poor, you realise how lucky you are right, Hahaz? Reach the Orphanage, the kids there are watching a movie about David vs Goliath. The kids there are Christian, a group of Christian from Singapore will go down to the Orphanage once every month to show them movie,give them donations and to visit the kids. We are suspose to paint the wall of the Orphanage but there was a change of plan as Mr Goh feels that painting the wall does not really help the kids much which I kind of agree. So we went in to give out present to the kids, the kids are quite friendly, thanking us and giving us a smile at the present they receive. Later, the kids there perform to us, they are very lively, singing some Christian song and doing some cheer. The prefects also came out with a last min performance for them. Later, on the bus, Mr Goh suggested that we could chip in money and buy daily necessities for the kids. This CIP trip we have is really special, my first time doing CIP at a foreign country and orphanage. The kids there can praise God,smile, stay happy despite of the poor environment they live in and that their parents are not with them, kind of amaze me.
After which, we went back to the hotel for our dinner, buffet again! Hahaz! In my opinion the dinner is better than the lunch. The prefects then went down the the bowling centre in the hotel and go bowling. I find it quite difficult to aim the ball straight, but soon find out that by bending lower, helps to keep the ball straight for some unknown reason.
We went back to our hotel room. All 4 of us ate cup noodles and I slept first as i was quite tired.
15/3/09Proceed down to have breakfast, buffet again. Then later, we are splitted into half to carry out the next activities. I went for flying fox first. The flying fox is actually from the rooftop of the hotel go down to first floor, hahaz! Then proceed to do raft building at the swimming pool.
We went for lunch at the hotel, buffet and then went down to do high elements. There was a thunder warning and we had to stop our high elements soon afterwards. We had some games amoung the ppl together.
Then ,its dinner, buffet again. Most of us went to the bowling centre to bowl at our free time in the night.
16/3/09As usual, started the day with buffet breakfast, time flies eh, 3rd day of the camp already. We went down to some place for trekking. There are some animals in cages there. The route was quite long and tiring.
It rain afterwards and we had to return to the hotel for lunch and play game while waiting for the rain to stop. Later, we went for cable skiing! Basically we are to knee down on a board and the metal wire will pull us around in the water. We have to hold on to the metal bar and pull left and right to control. I am so happy and proud of myself that I completed one round! After one round, during the turning, i lost balance n fell in to the water.
Wen for dinner and had a debrief in the night. The rest of the night is free.
17/3/09Last day of the camp, we woke up early to pack up and stuff. The last day is for us to shop, first stop is a Polo shop which is very expensive. Den we went to a mall that has nothing to buy. The only thing I bought back is food!
After that, it was lunch, seafood... something that i will eat once in a blue moon. But the lunch was okay, just that i took quite a long time as it is not easy to eat the seafood, its quite complicated to eat the crab, nid to bite here, break there, hahaz!
Den headed down to the harbour, board the boat/yatch... It was very windy at the back of the boat/yatch and the view is quite good.
We soon arrive back in school. Went to mac to eat with some other prefects. Jolyn's mother drive Dian and I home later.
Personally, I feel that the camp was quite short, we didnt really do much activities, and most of the activities are near by the hotel, like dun have the oversea feeling.Hahaz, did not post much in details! But a pity that we didnt go to ural area during the camp which we did for the pass few years.
