Happy Teacher's Day

Teacher's day is on the 1st, but we have decided to express our appreciation much earlier.

This morning, we have presented a small hand bouquet and a jar of homemade cookies to Ms. Naira immediately after class. She was very much delighted to the pleasant surprise from us.

Happy Teacher's Day in advanced, Ms. Naira.

The Land of Oz, by ACT3

It's was a week of learning and fun for Beatrice who has attended ACT3's June holiday workshop last week. The Land of Oz or The Wizard of Oz, a story Beatrice was so familiar since last December. And we really want to thank Mommy Egg who has gotten the book for her as her Christmas present.
This was the day of the presentation, and Beatrice was the poisonous poppy. The story has been slightly changed to accommodate the young learners, and interesting characters were introduced to the storyline.
Here is little Rianne and Beatrice, posing outside the theatre.
The 2 girls enjoyed their week of fun at the workshop. They shared their snacks, they are great companions!
The children were given specific color outfit to dress up for the presentation day. The poppies were all in white, while the rest of the characters were all in white tops and brown bottoms, yellow tops and brown bottoms.
Here is Beatrice in her red shimmery scarf, as the poisonous poppy.
Ms. Asha was asking the parents to sing along to the music of, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road".

Rianne is the Princess Flying Monkey. She is swinging her arms, and moving as if she was flying.

Little Rianne is looking more like Mommy Stephy =)
And here is our girl, standing at the spot she was suppose to be and ready to give her best shot.

Here is an excerpt of the presentation. As the presentation was approximately 30 mins in duration, and the file is quite big. We are only show casing Beatrice and her presentation.

Mommy ... what are you cooking today?

Woo ... Mommy gets really dizzy every time she hears that question. For Mommy will be scrambling for ideas on what to cook for the family! Such daily chore demands a lot of discipline, a trait Mommy is definitely lacking in. Hence, to toggle between job, and planning a healthy dinner menu for the family becomes a real challenge for Mommy. Anyhow, Mommy tries her best to make dinner menus as interesting as possible. And she never repeat the same menu twice in a week, because Beatrice and Daddy do not fancy eating the same food twice in a week (*;*)

Mommy uses some standard vegetables and herbs in her daily cooking. And they are tomatoes, garlic, onions and parsley (or cilantro). You can make yummy chicken stock with chicken breast meat, tomatoes, celery, garlic and parsley for a hearty macaroni meal. Or you can also steam fish with finely chopped parsley, tomatoes and 2 teaspoons of lime juice, instead of ginger, to go with your steam rice and some seasonal vegetables. These herbs and vegetables are versatile in cooking, and they paired well with most meat dishes. That's why they are mommy's favourite!

Basically, mommy has only an hour everyday to prepare dinner for the family. She has to work fast, work with lots of short cuts, and at the same time, ensure goodness and creativity too! And on a creative day, mommy will whip up a juicy burger for the family. And here is a recipe to share with all other mommies out there.

Cheezy Pork Burger with Parsley and Basil
Ingredients:
300g pork, 2 yellow onions chopped , 5 cloves garlic chopped , 2 tablespoons Dijion mustard, 1 dessertspoon chunky peanut butter, 1 teaspoon fish sauce, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1 dessertspoon soya sauce, 1 egg, breadcrumbs, 3 sprigs of parsley finely chopped, half cup of sweet basil roughly chopped, a handful of shredded morzarelle cheese and cheddar cheese.

Methods:
1. Mix all ingredients together and let it sit in the refrigerator, covered for half an hour before use.
2. Heat a non-stick pan with some oil
3. Roll the marinated pork in your hand like a ball and flatten it, like the size of your palm
4. Pan fry it on both side for about 5 mins
5. Serves it on a wheat meal mini bun with lots of lettuce and tomatoes

Bedok Reservoir Park

One of Singapore's most happening park, the Bedok Reservoir Park. We were there last evening and the park was bustling with people young and old. There were picnickers, joggers, families celebrating birthday at the playground, photographers, remote sails enthusiast, and families like us, who brought their babies, children and pets for a stroller at the park.

We took a kilometer stroll to and fro from where we had parked our car, and to the entrance of the park. Beatrice was bursting with energy as we stroll along the reservoir. She enjoyed the breeze that gently kissed her cheeks, and she enjoyed kicking the stones and gravels on the pathway. The first kilometer was a breeze, but heading back to the carpark was a real pain for Beatrice. She was tired from the walk and mommy has to piggy back her for a short distance, before she reluctantly landed her feet and started walking again.
Here is our girl, swinging happily on the swing as we took a break at the playground.
This looks like Daddy was going to swinging Beatrice round and round ... like a propeller! No, no ... in fact, Beatrice was pulling and tugging with Daddy. She wanted to be carried as we prepared to head back to our car.
And here is Daddy and Beatrice, having a picture taken near the floating platform.
