The Effect of Repetition

Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos

We have been reading ... and reading ... lots of write ups on childcare and the way babies learn. If you are like us, so "kaisu" and enthusiastic about your baby's development and progress, you may have discovered that there are quite a lot of articles out there that has the "Repetition" words appearing, when it comes to the way babies learn.

We have discovered that this is indeed very true and relevant. Juz like the video clip we have captured of little Beatrice..

Larry has been simulating the actions of tossing the color rings into the cone holder with Beatrice about a month ago. He will demonstrate to Beatrice how to put the rings in the cone every weekend during playtime. Not in sequence and sizes though (we think it is too "Qim" for her). The consistent repetition has indeed made Beatrice realize that she has to toss the rings into the cone. And that Daddy and Mommy will reward her good job with applauds and praises. She has made good progress and its definitely Larry's effort in helping her with the achievement! Good job Daddy!!.

Well, we are not trying to say that Beatrice is a super baby. But rather, to prove that the effect of repetition really really works! For parents who bring their babies to Sxxxx method when they are 0 age, or for those parents who adopt the G.D. teaching method of flashing cards, these maybe purely a form teaching through consistent repetitions. I have read articles that say babies love to learn, and they love repetitions. As they learn, they will organize their memories to differentiate about things and then register the experiences. And do you know that babies have super memories! My baby is a good example!.

I have been playing this fingers game with Beatrice for a month now. And this game is to help to bring about her sensory awareness. Well, guess what! I was so surprised one evening when she laid on my shoulder, showing me that she mimic how the cow sleep. I was so amazed! And I must say that repetition really really works! So for parents who want to save so money on those course, you may wanna try to repeatedly read a book, play a game or do something with your little tots. And soon without your knowing, your little tots has learnt! And you will be amazed with the effort put in! So, have fun and enjoy the learning experience your little tots will share! Repeat ... Repeat ... Repeat ... and share your experience and findings with me!

It's Mimic Time Again!!!

Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos

Of late, Beatrice loves to mimic every action and word we say or do! She is indeed having so much fun learning and being very mischievous too!

See how she mimic daddy when he sneezes and my laughter too!

We were so surprised when Beatrice mimic the sneezing act! This actually started one Sunday morning when Larry woke up with a serial of sneezes, and Beatrice heard it while she was drinking her milk milk. She made funny faces at me, smiled and guessed what! When Larry walked pass her, instead of calling him Dad Dad, Beatrice mimic the "Ah-Chooo" sound! We were astonished and burst into laughter! It was so.... funny ... From then on, whenever Beatrice teased Dad Dad, she will look at him and then "Ah-Chooo"...

Beatrice Learns to Walk

Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos

Beatrice has started to learn to stand and walk for the past one month! I think it was an exciting experience for her because her favourite hangout at Mama's house was the window grille, where she gets to see cars, buses, birds and balls!

Though she can't walk on her own yet, but with the aid of the window grille, she is able to "cruise" from one end to the other. This is a great practice for her. And for all moms and dads out there, if you have this kind of window that flows to the floor, you may wanna put your little tots there so that they could explore the wonder of standing and walking! If not, don't fret, cos the length of a sofa or table would help them too!

see how confident little Beatrice is when she let go of one hand and standing on the other!

When I look at the way my baby learns, i believe that in every human being, we are born in such a way that there is an innate ability in us where we juz know how to do things. However, if we are not given that environment or that special tools to learn, we may take a longer time to reach our destination. Or perhaps, we will juz give up and can't be bother with it (which happens most of the time). Therefore, if any of you moms and dads happen to see that your baby is capable of doing something, you should aid your baby in achieving it! Given them the tools and create the environment for them. Don't juz watch them and let it be. Cause as time passes by, you will not get to see that same action your baby did sometimes ago. Rather, he/she may have move on to something else and that "special" skill will be forgotten ... forever!!!

Uni Gathering @ Vivo City

We had our Annual Uni Gathering last Thursday @ Marche, Vivo City. It was a Great Success with so many of them turned up! Unlike the one we had at Suntec Swensen last year, where six miserable of us (Mike, Remus, Alice, Lisa, Larry and myself) and two yet to born babies gathered!

Hey Gals & Guys, Thank You so Much for making this a Success! And the support you have rendered to Larry (your Charming Chair Person!)

It was indeed a great meet up with lots of catching up among the gangs and we were surprised to know that WeeNee is having twins! Accordingly, the boys should be due some where in May / June @ KK Hospital. If you are planning to share the joy with the parents-to-be, do sms WeeNee and get her to keep you inform! And make sure you mark your calendar too ;P

Guess what! Uncle Wilfred was there at the gathering too! We were also shocked and definitely glad to see Uncle Wilfred, whom we had been trying to contact for the gathering. He is a very busy busy person who holds a G.M. post at this XXX Company! Other than busy with work, we hope that he will be actively involved in looking for a partner and hopefully, he will bring along his wifey for our next gathering!

Mommy Egg and Family were also at the gathering but they have to leave early for another appointment! Pssts … it was Mommy Egg’s birthday that day! Guess the family is celebrating for her! We took picture with baby Amelia, who is growing taller and chubbier! Larry says she looks very much like Daddy Sean =)

Baby Asher with Daddy and his Jie-Jie were also at our gathering! Asher is so cute and chub-chub! Juz love the ways babies sought of communicate among themselves! Keep a look out for the pictures which we had taken of baby Asher and Beatrice in actions!

There were proposal by Hazel and Remus to gather @ Perth next time! It’s a great ideal!
Perhaps Larry should recce around with the tour agents and arrange for a family trip for all of us for the next gathering!

Till then … do keep in touch still and we hope to meet up again soon …

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEEGAN!

How time really flies!!! We were at Keegan's first year birthday celebration last Sunday!!! He is big boy already! See how he cut his birthday cake with Daddy Derrick and Mommy Karen =)
Remember sometime in June/July last year when I posted pictures on Beatrice attending baby massage classes with Keegan and Xavier. They were so young and "innocent" then. Now, they are big babies who are so active, mischievous and talkative! And they communicate in their baby language with finger pointing greets, look a little like E.T.'s greeting ... hehehee ...

Guess Keegan must be Beatrice favorite boyfriend! See the way they talk and greet each other! And the way Keegan looks at Beatrice ;P
