Kathryn, Anna and Daniel - 8 months old.
The Becklets are now 8 months old and so much is going on!
Teething (ugh!) - Everyone is working on getting those teeth in, but Anna has the first official tooth. Anna has always been our fighter. She was the smallest of the Becklets at 3 pounds when she was born, but fought her way through the NICU to come home only 1 day later than her brother and sister. She caught up to Kathryn in size by about 3 months old and now, she is the first to have a tooth. Kathryn also has one (the same one as Anna) but you can't really see it yet, but you can feel it when she chomps down on your fingers. I'm trying to get pictures, but have not been successful yet. I will keep trying.
Sitting on their own (yay!) - The girls are pretty good at sitting on their own. Kathryn has mastered it and Anna is really close. Daniel is still working on it, but sitting seems to get in his way of trying to crawl. He works so hard on getting up and then doesn't really know what to do next. It is really fun to watch him working so hard.
Sleeping thru the night (double ugh!) - Kevin and I decided that we were going to start to let them cry it out last week. The girls were still getting up but were not hungry so we decided it was time to work on it. The first night was tough on us, but the girls did fine. They each cried for about 20 minutes and then fell back to sleep. The second night, they cried for less than 10 minutes and fell back to sleep. By the third night, they were sleeping from about 8pm until 5:30am. Woohoo! However......we somehow all got colds...again....so, we are back to getting up at night! The girls seem to be through the worst of their colds so they have slept until 5am the past 2 nights. Daniel seems to be having the worst time. He gets a terrible cough when he gets a cold which wakes him up at least every 2 hours. Last night, he didn't cough which was great, but he was still up crying every 2 hours. He just couldn't get comfortable.
Interaction with each other (so cute!) - We love to watch them interact with each other although we are quickly learning that we are not a part of their "group." We often put them in different jumperoos & exersaucers and put them in a triangle so that they can see each other. One day, I was in the kitchen and they were in the family room giggling and cooing with each other. I got so excited because it was so darn cute and walked in to see if I could join them. Well, the looks that I received from all of them and the silence that followed, clearly let me know that I was not invited to be a part of their fun. We also bought a walker for them to use and whoever is in the walker usually ends up walking right into someone else, grabbing their hands or faces or whatever toy the other is playing with. They will also just sit and look at each other and start to laugh. It is so amazing to watch and I'm sure is just the beginning of the bond that they will share as they grow.
