not a grateful list

Thanksgiving break was blissful. I was/am thankful for a lot of things, obviously. One of those things is that there are only 46 more days until Josh is my husband. Huzzah. That can also be something I'm ungrateful for since it would be so much better if that number didn't have a four in front of it.

Instead of a grateful list, I'll share some things I found out recently:
• LDS missionaries are not allowed to hold babies.
• One has to make an appointment to go through the LDS temple for the first time. What? I can't just show up?
• Kafka's Metamorphosis is about a man who turned into a beetle. I liked it, but poor Gregor.
• Thanksgiving cranberries taste better when eaten simultaneously with turkey.
• Rexburg, ID doesn't plow its roads completely. People have gotten used to driving over a thin layer of snow/ice.
• Most of the cool couches listed on KSL Classifieds are hide-a-beds. Gross.
• Some guys actually do enjoy receiving things like tools and cuff links as gifts. Not what I expected.
• Sometimes I'm a hint-dropper instead of a content communicator.
• Chelyabinsk is my new favorite Russian word.
• Aron Ralston is so admirable.

If you're going to watch one of my recently blogged trailers, I'd watch the one on this post. The documentary, Catfish, is so good/funny/awkward/weird/awesome, and I highly recommend it. Also, I love Nev Schulman (but I love Josh more).

happy november 14th

I had absolutely no alternative to leaving church two hours early today. Nursing a fiancé back to health with potato/corn/bacon chowder along with hours of football and Mad Men seemed more important at the moment.
(I still have a testimony.)

Our engagement photo shoot out in yesterday's chilly weather was apparently not the best thing for Josh's cold.
But he was such a great sport, and I'm soooooooo excited to see the photos.

at least it's less than seventy-three

I might try to make some things like them.

By the way, sixty-three days seems like such a long time.

Uh...I want to die. And I don't remember the last time I idled my car in the driveway.
But thanks, neighbors. Yes, these neighbors. And yet again, these same neighbors.

(Last week) we found a place to live!! Josh is moving in this week, but my name is already next to his on the mailbox. Haha. I felt like looking up the place on Google Maps street view, and it is all covered by trees. I love that.

We were on a freight elevator headed to one of the Inaugural Balls. It was quite chilly, so the President removed his tuxedo jacket and put it over the shoulders of his wife. Then they had a semi-private moment as staff member and Secret Service agents tried not to look.

Sometimes I'm not even sure what the point of a wedding cake is,

but these ones by Pink Peach Cakes are really awesome.

I promise I'm not going to turn this into a wedding planning blog.

love story videos

My friend, Julie, and her husband, Matt, are muy talented and creative individuals (just look at their Halloween, for instance). Matt, with Julie's assistance, of course, has started creating these crafty little sometimes-stop-motion courtship love story videos (I don't know where the commas go with all those adjectives) for fun, nostalgia, birthdays, anniversaries, or weddings. I WANT ONE, and luckily for me, Julie said I could have one.

This love story video is Julie and Matt's love story. (My favorite parts are the dancing and the fireworks.)

This video is for Julie's sister, Maren, and Maren's husband, Dirk. (They met working at Anthropologie.)

We were quite pleasantly surprised with her ensemble—especially her mustache and goatee.

My second skull cake tasted much better than my first. He had a widow's peak. And a goatee.
