A few pieces

Hi,
Again it's been a while since my latest post. Here are a few jewelry pieces I've made over the last couple of months. All of them contain one or more Art Beads.

Bold bracelet with 3 large dandelion polymer clay beads by HumbleBeads, a patinated chunky chain by MissFickleMedia, and a copper toggle by myself. I really like this bracelet, so it might be a keeper. I haven't decided yet ...

Bracelet with a ceramic squarish bead made by DonnaPerlinplim, and lovely blue druzy nuggets that I got from SmittenBeads.co.uk (great shop). Transparent glass nuggets and blue waxed linen cord. Copper toggle clasp.

-------------

I recently made my first purchase from NadiaTerra in Bulgaria. Love her style with a matte shabby chic look and lots of new, fun and interesting bead shapes. Like the ones I used in these earrings for instance, they have no holes, just a groove all around. Very interesting! Earrings for hot summer's days. Looking great with tanned skin, a casual white shirt, worn jeans and brown leather sandals.
Ingredients:
Wonderful handmade terracotta clay beads with engobe patina and without holes - NadiaTerra
Irish waxed linen cord
Pewter rings
Heavily oxidized sterling silver handmade earring hooks

I have more jewelry that I haven't yet shown you here, but I hope to do so within shortly. So come back again soon.

Please, if you are interested in any of the pieces I have shown you in this post you are very welcome to contact me:

Knotted necklaces

A week or so ago Lorelei Eurto posted on her blog about knotted necklaces. And her post really inspired me (thanks :-) ). For one, I was really attracted to every piece she showed. All great designs and color schemes, and such fun combinations of beads. And secondly I realized that style of knotting long sections of beads for necklaces would really suit me. I often use knotting in my jewelry making. Knotting or macrame is perfect when I make jewelry sitting in front of the TV, or outdoors on the veranda for instance. I also love to roam around in my stash and pick out and combine beads of different shapes, textures and colors.

I am very happy with how these three necklaces turned out. And I got to use some beautiful art bead pendants that I have been hoarding for too long.

Necklace - Blooming

  • Bloom pendant - Tesori Trovati, Erin Prais-Hinz
  • Amazon colorored small ceramic round - Elaine Ray

Necklace

Loooooong necklace (over 1 meter) packed with art beads and other goodies. It is telling the story about my house with its immediate surroundings. Our garden, the tiny little wood next to it, and then the field with horses beyond it. It is MY necklace about a place on earth that I really love and that means so much to me. And with loads of gorgeous beads that I love so much. I want to be able to carry it with me when I am away somewhere.

Cord is a thin nylon cord (Superlon). See photo below for the bead artists. The macramé gives a wonderful casual feel, and softness. Sort of an intimate feel kind of, like friendship bracelets. I have worked on it a little here and there, for about two months, when I haven't had anything else going on. BTW, I do free hand macramé á la this Ornamentea tutorial. No tools or attachements needed. Perfect for in-front-of-the-TV crafting.

Art beads by: ChelleV2, Elaine Ray, Floridity, Gaea, Humblebeads, Jubilee, Mary Harding, Sue Beads, Susan K Nestor and TreeWingStudio.

And now ...
... here's one of the reveals I promised you the other day: the necklace is one of the projects in the gallery section of Joanne Tinley's, of Daisy Chain Designs, new E-Book about using macramé in jewelry.

Seriously, this book is absolutely fantastic! And I am not saying that just because I am in it ;-). So packed with information, ideas and inspiration. I know I will come back to it many many times, and use what Joanne teaches in the projects. Many ways are new to me, so I am all excited and eager to try them out. I can truly recommend it to everyone!

The book is available through Joanne's website, or her DaisyChainExtra Etsy shop.

Three Bracelets

Dearest blog followers,
Where have I been? You haven't seen or heard from me for a couple of weeks now. Mark said I should tell you I have been on secret missions. And, well, he is in fact slightly right about it. (Even if I was also a little ill for a few days.) A couple of them. And that's all I want to say for now. Tihi ;-). Things will be revealed both one very soon and another one in a few months, so ...

Anyway, as I had completed my "missions" on Friday, I was craving to create some new bracelets. Two of them, both with a nature theme. And I have to admit that the apricot kernel one I made already in February. But I haven't had any good photographs of it until now.

A new Bracelet

  • Polymer Clay branch disk bead by Heather Powers, HumbleBeads, the Bead of the Month Club.
  • Teal round gemstones, I don't know what they are, maybe some kind of agate. A part of a wonderful surprise gift that arrived last week, from Jenny of Shyme Design . Thank you so much Jenny!
  • Caribbean Sea aqua blue facetted glass roundels, also from Jenny.
  • Big white potato pearls, possibly they were a gift from Birgitta Lejonklou late last year.
  • Hydro grossular Garnet rounds from StarEyes.se
  • Brushed copper rounds
  • Magnetic ball clasp, copper
Please, if you feel like it, help me by suggesting a suitable name for it. No price to win, just my gratitude :-). Here are a few brainstorm words to set you off: Caribbean, best friends forever, friends, ocean, branch, teal, aqua, pool, Florida, lime, and so on to whatever you come to think of when you see it.

LimaBeads Challenge by Lorelei and Shannon - Reveal

I was lucky to get my hands on one of these beautiful kits from LimaBeads. Fantasticly put together by Lorelei Eurto and Shannon Iko Chomanczuk. Thank you so much!

Shannon and Lorelei's idea was that we simply create something with the beads. We could use them whichever way we wanted, adding our own beads, focals and so on.

I have made three pieces, two necklaces and one bracelet.

Starting with the first necklace
I have recently learned the technique of pearl knotting on silk thread. (I am definitely not a pro yet, my constructions get sort of wobbly, so if anyone could tell me what I do wrong I'd be very happy.) I love the effect of knotting. And the less wanted wobblyness on this necklace will soon go away I believe. Oh I should also mention, I accidently got two bags of the pale yellow potato pearls. Hope no one else missed out on theirs.

Now the bracelet
I tripled the chain, and added beads from the BeadChest and art beads from RadiantMind, Floridity, HumbleBeads, Jubilee, Elaine Ray, Loupiac and Gaea. Strung on waxed linen cord. Clasp from LimaBeads and the cute peace charm I got ages ago, but unfortunately I can't remember from where, it is possible it was actually from LimaBeads.

Necklace number two
Beautiful pendant from HumbleBeads. And I added more pearls, semi-precious, copper and glass beads from my own stash.

Instant Love

Can you believe these are glass? They look so gorgeous. Rustic and precious at the same time. By OutWest. And what do you know, lucky me purchased them yesterday :-)

I think a necklace with HumbleBeads beautiful pendant and an antiqued copper chain. And to go with that, a pair of earrings. What do YOU think?

Tomorrow will be the reveal/blog hop for the Shadow Box Challenge arranged by Lorelei Eurto with enameled bezels from C-Koop. Don't miss that. I am one of the lucky participants. And I am so much looking forward to see what everyone else has come up with.

All my best,
Malin

Lavender Butterfly - New Necklace

  • Butterfly pendant and two small disk beads by HumbleBeads.
  • Lilac chain, purple copper ring and purple colored copper wire by MissFickleMedia (Shannon's shop is on a short vacation until the 18th, the link will take you to her blog instead).
  • Glass beads and facetted bone bead.
There is no clasp since it is long enough to go over the head.

Arabella is modelling for me with the necklace arranged to become slightly shorter when it sits on her. It is longer on an adult.

All my best,
Malin

BTW - Bead Table Wednesday - 13th of April

I saw these spectacular earrings by Emma of FredBean's Nook the other day. I fell in love with the design. I just love love love it. Had to give it a try myself. I did figure out to start with a ladder stitch ring in the center to surround the bead.
The next steps I will give a try in the coming days. I feel very uncertain about how I will do it. I think I know how. But I just think it is gonna look awful when it's coming from me ... You just HAVE to check out Emma's work. www.fredbeansnook.com

These beads arrived in the mail today, from Bead Of The Month Club by Heather Powers of HumbleBeads. Let's just say I do NOT regret I joined that club.

A sneak peek of one of the things I am doing for the Button Swap arranged by Michelle Mach. She sent me some awesome buttons. Reveal day with blog hop will be on the 29th of April. Don't miss that.

Hurray for Anita's Bead Soup reveal

WOW - my bead soup blog party partner Anita Denisova has posted about what she did with the beads I sent to her. I LOVE it! Such awesome pieces. Go to her blog and check it out more in depth. I copied the Russian text and took it to Google translate. It helps you to get a clue about what she is saying, even if you don't understand it completely.

Mr Owl of HumbleBeads has found a home. He looks very content now, doesn't he.

And look at those cool rings made from the fiber/yarn I sent. How did she make them?

And I am so happy Anita is OK after all. Happy happy happy about it all!
All my best,
Malin
