Dr Visit

Zoe had her 4-month check up which turned into her 5-month check up since I was a slacker mom and kept going out of town. She was a very happy baby until they gave her the immunizations. Most kids like the oral one. Not Zoe. She screamed for the whole thing. Then glared at the nurses when they were finished.

She's growing up so fast. She was a whopping 15lbs 14 ounces (75%). Then 25 1/2 inches long (65%)

She's discovered her feet and loves them. Ha

Trip to California

Such. A. Fun. Trip.
We packed in a lot in just a week. First we drove to Utah to stay a night with my cousins. It's easier driving 4 hours one day and 10 the next instead of 14 in one day. Zoe and Blake loved hanging with their second cousins. My cousin's kids didn't want Zoe and Blake to leave.

While we were in Utah we went to go meet their new, not so little "cousin" Aiden. He's 2 months younger than Zoe and they're the same size, plus Zoe is a bit of a chunker herself...

Such good friends already. Be careful Aiden....she's not allowed to date...ever

After the long 10 hour drive, we made it to California. The first day we got there, my 2 brothers, Scott and Chad were there with their families. My family had planned to do a Layne Olympics which consisted of many sports including Beach vollyeball, shooting, balance beam, floor exercise, diving, equestrian, speed walking, triathlon, synchronized swimming and a few other I've forgotten. It was full of fun and a lot of laughs. I wish I had gotten more pictures on my phone. These are the only 2 I got and they really don't do the events justice.

This is equestrian. My mom had 2 stuffed horses that you wrapped around your body and strapped on your shoulders. We had to ride through the pool, over the brick all, over 2 more jumps and across the finish line.

This one was shooting. We used a nerf gun and velcro.

Some of my favorite moments
  •  My mom had a kids tricycle and a kids motorcycle that we had to ride down the driveway. Then run through the house. Then swim across the little pool and across the finish line. It was really entertaining to see the adults trying to ride the kid bikes.
  • My parents doing synchronized swimming together
  • My balance beam exercise. It was beautiful. Rio 2016 here I come.
  • My sister and I wresting each other in the pool to get to the finish line
  • Shauna trying to stay dry. Impossible
  • My Dad's "dive" into the pool. More like a massive splash

Off to the beach!
I love the beach. Love, love, love it. My sister and sister-in-law go every tuesday and thursday. They have such a hard life...Blake was really unsure about the whole thing, but once his cousins came and showed him boogie boarding, he loved it.

He thought he was so cool.

I'm so proud of him

The kids found some big sand crabs

Lounging in the sun

Naughty boy pulled a bunch of papers in his porta crib when he should have been sleeping

My kids were so tuckered out by the end of the trip. He couldn't even finish his skittles

She's very happy. Do you want to know why? She had her first taste of cinnamon toast. Thanks to Blake being such a sneaky boy

We're going to end it with some beautiful photography by Blake

Jasmin'es pretty rug. So soft I could sleep on it

Rollin over

Zoe has successfully rolled over. Se had been struggling with getting her arm out for a while now and she finally figured it out. She's growing up way too fast.

Here's how she felt about the whole rolling over thing

My adventurous 2-year old

Kids make life so entertaining. There's not a day that goes by without my very curious 2 year old doing something that throws me through a loop. Today consisted of turning lotion into shampoo on both his and Zoe's head, climbing into the crib and destroying Zoe's headbands, eating icy hot and a call to the poison control center. We'll see what he has planned for tomorrow.

Reunion

On our way back from california I stopped in Utah to visit some friends who I haven't seen in a while. I've been friends with jasmine and Jo'Vine since my sophomore year of high school so that makes it...8 years? It had been 5 years since all 3 of us were together and it was the first time Jo'Vine had met my kids. Our get together was way overdue. Blake loved playing with Jo. I think the candy won him over. We tried to get a picture of all of us together, but I fail at taking pictures while keeping myself in it. So don't look at horrible I look. Now you all are looking. Stop it. Right now.

We've had so much fun here this week. Blake has just been going non stop. He sleeps so well because of it. He LOVES his cousins. He completely forgets that I'm there. Zoe is loving all the attention. She's definitely getting used to being held.

Beach Day

Oh how I've missed the beach. It's been 3 years since I've had a good beach day. I went 2 years ago, but it was really cold. Today was much better. I soaked in the sun, went boogie boarding, dug a hole, searched for sand crabs, chased the waves and decided I need to visit home more often in the summer. Blake was not happy at first. Once his crazy cousins arrived he warmed up to the beach. He wanted to swim in the ocean on his own. He helped dig the hole for a pool, he let me bury him in the sand, he lounged in a little chair next to me when I wanted to lay out, he even got to ride the boogie board. We will definitely be visiting the beach again this week and it will most definitely include surfing.

Most of my pictures are on my camera so this is just a sample from today. I will post more when I get back to Idaho
