old friends and a camera

ellen and david in new york (where they belong).

e coming back to ny is one of my favorite things about the birth of other people's savior.

i love david's mom, gail. we bonded over teaching esl and belly dancing. love her.

back to angelica. obvi.

what a little smurf.

best run-in i've had since moving to new york. erica! one of my first roommates in sf. she was like a little brother to me. and last night i was thinking about her because i remember when she was watching mulholland drive and loved it. and i finally got around to watching it. little erica, my favorite stoner. working at alessi. she's so bay area, it's weird to think of her living here. but she just moved a few months ago and i can't wait to spend time with her.

best free-box find ever. long live the dress.

e still has the snow globe i made for her. babies riding giant pigs. i've got to get back to my snow globes.

my parents have an amish complex

more time at the ocean

trying not to get swept into the riptides

dad took a turn

bearded biker

my dad is turning sixty in seven days. (I won't be home, so we celebrated early.)

I got my dad his very first dvd player. He's already decided to return it, but we made a deal: he has one week to purchase another dvd player that he'd rather have. Apparently, the one I got was too extravagant for his needs. I looked at the back of our current television and it was manufactured in 1984. Technophobia? Absolutely.

First Scrabble game of the trip.

Why must my mom whoop us until we are crying and begging for mercy?

Everything looks so pretty until I remember that we are at war with the world

Illusion of calm

Jellyfish before I stepped on it and popped it.

The water was warm enough for a dip.

Waste management, beach style.

Border patrol kind of takes the joy out of beach-going.

Checking for Haitians who may be trying to come to shore.

And checking in the other direction.

Surf's up, Santa.

In Florida, Christmas decorations are left sprawled and deflated on suburban lawns during the day. This tickles my Jewish bones.

Christmas mass(acre).
