Spring Flings and Easter things 2016

Easter fell at the end of Spring Break this year.  The girls spent part of that week at the farm with Grandma, Aunt Mary Dale and cousins.  They dyed eggs there and did some "eggspensive" egg hunting of eggs with some big cash inside!  Ella learned easy egg hunts are for babies!
Before Spring Break, Emma and her friend, Alex, organized an Easter scavenger hunt with the Easter Bunny for the special needs kids at their school.  They planned the entire event all by themselves.  I was very proud of her.

SeraKate and I went to look at the baby chicks and baby rabbits.  Then we came home and made this adorable little painting with her hands and fingerprints. She loves to paint. (18 months old)

Saturday.  Church Egg hunt.  Emma and Eg helped Burt hide the eggs this year.

Doesn't everyone eat breakfast like this??

Spring Break

Spring Break was a nice break this year.  We started off Monday with a day in Memphis with the Box girls.  We went to Sky Zone, Cheesecake Factory, mall, and Bass Pro Shop.  If it wasn't for these 2 taking selfies we wouldn't have any pictures from the day. It was a great day trip.

Tuesday the girls and Sadie left with mom to go the farm for the week.  They had a great time with Aunt Mary Dale, Uncle Jan, Jordan, Xander, Jennifer, Keagan, Cassi, Aunt Charlotte and a few others.

I grew up drinking coffee on the porch, having campfires with weenie roasts and s'mores, riding in the back of the truck through the pastures, dying eggs and having intense egg hunts, and playing Chinese Checkers when we would go visit Grandma Eva and Grandpa Dale.  It is neat that my mom and Aunt Mary want to share the same memories with the next generation.  In fact, Grandma Eva taught me how to play Chinese Checkers on this exact board in this same location when I was about Jordan's age.

The original plan for the week was for Burt and I to go on a small trip to Vicksburg, Natchez and New Orleans while mom had the kids.  Unfortunately, we made it half way to Vicksburg and I got fever and felt terrible.  We ended up coming home and I was in bed sick for the week.  At least I was feeling better when the girls got back home and they had a fabulous week.

Eva Grace sings her first solo at church.

She asked Brother Don when I said, "no," and he said a big, "YES!"  Ashley Hall made it all happen with helping her get a song and giving her opportunities on her Friday night to practice.  EG picked the song and did a great job.  She got off with the music a few times but overall did FABULOUS. We are so proud.

EG plays JO Volleyball (January - March)

Eva Grace made the Arkansas Storm JO Volleyball team.  We were excited to see her coach was James Hewitt, who we have known since before she and Saraya were born.  It was a fun experience and we all met many new families.  EG was #11. We made the most of every trip, making them mini vacations instead of just a volleyball tournament.

We also ran into several of our friends on other teams while traveling to each tournament. (EG, Allie and Zoey).
She got to play in some neat locations, like the Cook Convention Center in Memphis.  During this tournament we stayed the night at the Bass Pro Shop.  (separate post).

Ella had many ways of entertaining herself. This tournament she got creative with some hairstyles.
Top: another Memphis tournament, Bottom: Franklin, TN tournament

Ella and I took a break and went to get milkshakes and eat at Steak n Shake in Nashville.  She had earned it!

After playing ball we went exploring Nashville.  We stopped by Antique Archeology, the store that sells finds from American Pickers, one of Burt's tv shows.
We also stopped by the Opryland Hotel and walked around.  We plan to go back there very soon.

Don't know how she slept on the floor or bleachers but she'd had all she could stand! ha.
After the season was over her team was asked to call lines at the high school Queens of the Hardware tournament.  They loved it.

When your child asks you to make her a shirt for Dr. Seuss week, you and her make a shirt!  Doesn't she look adorbs!
