We have baby chickens...

Uncle Adam thought the girls needed some baby chickens for Easter... Only now they are growing and not so baby anymore. He and dad are now building a chicken coop. Yes, we live in the middle of the city. Yes, this probably makes us rednecks. I didn't sign up for this one. Be on the lookout for fresh eggs at the Barrett Trading Post... Or interesting neighbor blog posts!

Spring Break in Atlanta

Adam, Dad, the girls and I went to see Andrew and Sarah in Atlanta for a few days over Spring Break. It was a GREAT time. We drove down Thursday. Sarah had these Easter goodies waiting for the girls by their beds :) They all enjoyed "girl talk" that night.

On Friday, we went to Coke World. Emma wanted to see the processing plant, Eva Grace wanted to sample every soda possible and Ella wanted a free Coke. After we got to these parts in the tour the girls loved it. We also got to meet the polar bear.

The most awaited perk of the trip for the girls was going to the American Girl Doll Store. They saved their money for months and couldn't wait! We met the Boxes there, who were also visiting Atlanta. We ate dessert at the Bistro and shopped for hours. Eva Grace had saved enough money to get the doll of the year, McKenna. Ella had saved enough to get a Bitty Baby, and Emma got her doll a couple of new outfits. The girls each took their dolls they got for Christmas and all their outfits matched :) Emma and EG also got their doll's hair fixed in the salon. We all had a blast.

We finished up Friday doing some other shopping (my style), then met Sarah for supper. The boys went to the March Madness games
(Baylor beat Xavier, Kentucky beat Indiana). The girls made some signs.

Saturday, we did more shopping at IKEA and went to Piedmont Park. The girls loved taking Maggie to the dog park there and we all enjoyed GeoCaching, (If you don't know what this is, google it, great family fun and nation wide!) That night we ate ribs at Fat Matts, world known for its southern ribs. It was fabulous. There isn't a neat way to eat ribs, right girls?

After Fat Matts, we went to a World Farmer's Market. SUPER COOL!! They had fresh meats/fish of all kind (squid, octopus, tons of fish, shrimp, live crab and lobster...) fresh fruits and vegetables from all over the world, fresh breads of all kinds made daily, nuts, fresh flowers... It was very educational. Of all the things that were there, Eva Grace BEGGED for me to let her get a fresh coconut so she could drink the milk??? Emma asked Sarah to buy her some carrots (fresh long ones with beautiful greenery out the end like on Bugs Bunny). She told Sarah I never bought them carrots... I always buy baby carrots, not the same I guess. Andrew and Sarah got the girls a bag of rose petals so they could take a bath of rose petals. They LOVED it. They got to lather down with lotion after their relaxing bath :)
After the bath, Granddad drilled into the coconut so Eva Grace could taste the mysterious milk...She had mixed feelings towards the taste but they all liked the coconut. Emma loved the carrots!

Emma's 10th Birthday Party... 4 months late :)

A Thanksgiving birthday is hard to have a party where your friends can come... then the holidays set in & everyone is super busy... then we were going to Disney World & Eva Grace had 8:30 ballgames every Saturday January-February...So, now it is the first weekend in March & the first open weekend, it's party time!!!
Emma wanted a Paint Your Own Canvas Party. She loves to plan events and planned most of her own party (while learning a lesson on budgeting!! Her entire party cost $100). She wanted to paint an owl, so that was our theme. We found a picture she liked, gave it to Jenny who made our cake match EXACTLY and went from there.
Emma enjoyed making most of her own decorations (which saved money for her budget). The owl sitting in the bucket has paint brush flowers surrounding it :)

The girls had to paint in phases, letting the paint dry inbetween each step. They all started with white canvases!! We traced the owl outline and eyes on to the canvas from cardstock, the girls free handed the rest.

The Masterpieces! Great job by all, and a lot of fun!! :)

A SEUSStabular Birthday

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! (AND an opportunity for a new outfit!!)
One of my all time favorite pictures! Ella Mae, Bella and Ella Ruth.

Ella had a little Dr. Seuss skit at preschool. She did a great job :)

Eva Grace, Chloe, Emma K, and Abby also were THINGS 1-4 at UHE. Pictures coming...
