Friends are FOREVER. Eva Grace's 100th Day of School, 2nd Grade

For the 100 Day celebration, the kids dressed up like a 100 year olds. Thankfully, there was an award ceremony on the same day so parents got to see all the kids dressed up. (Hilarious!). On one of her projects for the day she wrote she wanted 100 kittens, didn't want 100 sisters, would eat 100 Fruit Loops, would not eat 100 fish, would spend $100 on the American Girl Doll- McKenna, and her favorite thing about her first 100 days of school was art because she got to paint, draw and color. At the award ceremony she got awards for straight A's and Perfect Attendance. WOO HOO! Emma's school didn't celebrate 100 days of school. She did get her grades though and had all A's too, with one B. I was very proud of both of them.

Eva Grace learned about Martin Luther King....again

Ok. I have to preface this story with the last year's. Her First Grade class learned about Martin Luther King and had to write on what they dreamed of being one day. Her classmates wrote of big things... a president, a movie star, a doctor, ... Eva Grace wanted to be... a real elf!

Fast forward... Now in 2nd grade, this week was MLK Day. EG comes home asking if she is a color or a white. She thought she was pretty colorful!

Can't wait for next year!

I will add that she has greatly enjoyed learning about MLK this week. She was really upset by the cruelty of others because of skin color. She couldn't understand why. She is my most compassionate child and I love to watch her get emotionally involved in something she cares about. Compassion is one of her strengths.

IN WITH THE NEW... Happy New Year 2012

We brought in the new year with the Pools, Parker, and Bunch Families. There were 8 little girls running around the house all night (and 1 poor teenage boy stuck to video games). It was a blast. Everyone in our neighborhood was sure to hear us yelling and screaming, "Happy New Year," at midnight!
