SURF CONTEST

This is Layne's 7th year at the Menehune Contest down in La Jolla.  Christian is officially too old for this contest.  Layne and I jetted down early morning and spent a day together at the beach.  Her first heat she got 3rd and advanced to the semi-finals.  In the semi-finals she took 3rd again which allowed her to surf in the finals.

HOMECOMING DANCE

Can't believe Christian is a junior, driving, working and going to dances.  Seriously time flies.  Him and some friends went to Homecoming this year.  All the kids and parents met for food and pictures and off the kids went.  Notice monopoly money in his pocket, he said at the dance he was throwing the money around "making it rain."  Oh that kid is a goofball!!!

SOCCER

School started and so did soccer season.  This is Layne's fifth year playing and her second year U10. I am the assistant coach.  We are the Panthers this year.
My favorite player on the team!!!

SCHOOL SCHEDULE

 Starting 4th grade!
Christian started a week before and doesn't do the first day of school photo anymore.  He is a junior this year, still surfing in the mornings and will be working at Dukes Monday and Friday nights.
Love that we can walk to and from school.
Savannah and Layne first day of school.
They are in the same class this year with Mrs. Florence.
Sometimes we skateboard home from school.
Thank goodness the first day was a short day.

SUN...SURF...SAND...

Summer was fun, relaxing and a bit different this year.  Christian worked about 4 days a week and somewhat had his own schedule.  He also traveled to South Africa which was his highlight of the Summer and the year.  Layne and I were playmates.  We spent a lot of time at the beach surfing, meeting up with friends and cousins.  Daddy most of Summer took off Thursday and Fridays and joined us at the beach or pool. We did 3 little San Elijo get aways but mostly this Summer we enjoyed being home at the beach and in our pool.  Spring schedule and traveling was so crazy we needed a relaxing Summer.  I am always sad when it's over, I love the carefree no schedule days.  I also am reminded how lucky we are to live at the beach and to have our cousins live close by.

Legal to drive, watch out!
We had a huge swell this Summer.  The Wedge got up to 30 feet.  One day we were at Blackies it was about 2-3 feet, however, walk to the other side to The Point and it was 15 foot plus.

COUSINS CAMPING

(Finley, River, June, Payton, Sienna, Camden, Crew, Layne, Shelby, Boston, Noah)
Another mini camping trip to San Elijo this month.  It was a cousin trip, except Christian was in South Africa.  The first two nights it was moms only with the kids.  My sisters Michelle, Jillonnie, Raquel (Michelle's sis-in-law) and me.  We had fun playing cards and hanging out.  The kids had fun surfing, playing at the beach, skateboarding, playing games and enjoying the camping experience.

SOUTH AFRICA

This year the surf team went to South Africa.  6 boys from the team, 2 coaches Andy and Bill along with Robert August and his son Sam August.  Brett couldn't go due to work and he was so bummed.  Bill is from South Africa which is a huge plus when your kid is traveling so far.  Robert August hasn't been back to South Africa since filming Endless Summer 50 years ago.  So part of the 50 year Anniversary celebration he took his son Sam and joined the surf team for an amazing adventure.  They were gone 18 days.  Traveling from LAX to Dubai to South Africa.  Most of the trip was spent at J-Bay, but they also spent some time in Durban where Bill is from.  These are a few photos I got from everyone and on social media.  They had a photographer for part of the trip taking surf photos and I can't wait to see those.
Ready to start an adventure of a lifetime!
