I haven't posted anything for a little while now, and I'm sitting here at work trying not to fall asleep so why not post a story or two? Helps that my boss is gone today and I've already finished my work for the day. Anyway, this happened a week or two ago.
Jer and I were hanging out at the house one night, not doing anything. I was sitting on the couch upstairs in the sun room watching something on TV. Jer was in the kitchen and I watched her as she went downstairs. After an hour or so I began to wonder if everything was alright. So I went to go find her. Part of me was curious if she was feeling okay, another part was wondering if I had done something to make her upset. Happens sometimes. With our personalities we tend to go be by ourselves when we get upset. After waiting for a little while I went to go see if I could find out what I did or said.
I called the puppies with me and we all headed downstairs to find Jer. I take the puppies for two reasons. One is because they help me find which room she is in. That's a game we love to play with the dogs, it's pretty funny to hide and watch them try to find you. The other reason is because if she is mad at me then the puppies kind of act as a buffer when I go in to find out what's bothering her. :)
The puppies and I get downstairs and I don't see any lights on. Now I'm guessing she is in bed taking a nap, but I take the dogs with me to search all the other rooms first. Jer sometimes likes to hide and try to scare me. Hence the habit of bringing the puppies along with me. We look around and can't find her so now I'm headed to the bedroom. Just as I round the corner, Jer pops out from the bedroom and kinda yells to scare me. She sticks her hands up into "scary position", I can't think of anyway else to describe it. You know, the "I'm going to get you" sort of pose you do to kids as you are creeping slowly up to them? I think you get the point. If not, ask me next time I see you and I'll show you.
At this point I was not prepared for her to jump out at me, since the bedroom was the only room left and the chances are usually pretty high that she was asleep in bed. Good news is, I have some pretty good reflexes. Bad news is, I have some pretty good reflexes. Sorry honey. :)
With one hand I sort of knocked her hands down and with the other I popped her in the mouth. Not a hard shot, I did my best to stop my actions as soon as I realized it was her. I felt pretty bad about hitting her, but I couldn't stop laughing about it. I'm laughing right now actually. She just looks at me with that "I can't believe you did that" look on her face. I tried to not laugh as I apologized and checked her lip to make sure she was okay.
Maybe Jer will get on and tell her side of this, maybe not. Either way, I have learned that I need to train my puppies a little better. My next trick is to get them to scout out the rooms ahead of me, instead of with me...

Tag! I'm it...
Janalyn tagged me. I didn't know what it meant to be "tagged". But it just means that she did something on her blog and wants me to do it now. So, here's my first post...
THE COUPLES QUIZ. :)
Husband's full name: Bryan Jack Densley
Who asked who on 1st date: Tya. :) I worked with Tya and BJ has known her since high school. She had BJ come in and pick her up to go to lunch so I could see him. I thought he was cute. So she set up a lunch date between the 3 of us and then we started going out every week or so.
Who said I love you first: BJ did. He was leaving my house one night and he kissed me and said "I love you." I said, "I know." And then I hugged him. Ah ha ha ha ha. He didn't like that so much. But then I told him back.
Who kissed who first: These questions are in the wrong order. Kissing usually occurs prior to the I love you. Well, he kissed me. It had been like 4 months of dating and I knew he didn't want to kiss and start a physical relationship, so I just went along with the flow. (It was really nice to go out with a guy that wasn't in my ward.) But then he took me to lunch the day he was heading off to a volleyball tourny in Las Vegas. As he dropped me off at work, I hugged him and thanked him for lunch and then he just dove in. It was the best kiss I've ever had. I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day. But then I started wondering if it really happened, and just my luck, he was off in Las Vegas for 3 days.
How long did you date: First date was in June. Then we got engaged in November and married in January. So we dated for 6-7 months.
Tell about the proposal: As Janalyn said about Craig, BJ was so sneaky! For my family Christmas party that year, we were doing a "Festivus Film Festival," meaning that each family in my family was in charge of making a 5-7 minute video. As I was the only single sibling, I needed a helper with my video and it just so happened I was dating BJ. So I asked him to help. I was really busy with life - I worked full-time and taught 17 piano students. So he said he'd take care of it. He told me he was going to illustrate a book and have some props to go along with the book as we read through it. So he told me the story line (a night at the Dollar Store to buy presents for each other) and I thought it was great. So the night of the filming, he had to stay at work late so he could finish the illustrations (yes, stick figures.) So he finally showed up and we had to go buy the props at the Dollar Store. We had decided I would buy him a Sudoku book, but didn't know what his present to me was. After scouring through the Dollar Store, we decided he would buy me a bag of cotton candy. Mmmmmm But as we were standing in the check-out line, I saw "grab bags" - brown paper bags with random toys in them, you buy the bag and get surprised with whatever is in them. So I thought that would be great because we'd be filming and neither of us would know what was in the bag. So that's what we got. Alas, we put the cotton candy back. So, we went back to my house to film the video. At the end of the story, we exchanged Christmas presents. As he handed me the grab bag, he told me I had to answer a question before I could keep my gift. (This was unrehearsed of course so I had no idea what was going on) and I found the wedding ring in the grab bag and he proposed. I said yes and asked if my parents knew. No, he hadn't asked my dad. So I told him he had to go ask my dad. So, he went and told my dad he was going to surprise me and propose that night (yes, a little white lie) and my dad said ok. :) I thought I hate surprises, but it was so nice that we hadn't even talked about gettting married, but I didn't have to freak out about getting married, so it was perfect.
Who Eats More: Depends on what we're eating. I can eat more snacks, he can eat more meals. We both can down a bowl of popcorn in 3 minutes flat. ;)
Who's Taller: I am. But he makes me walk all scrunched over because he doesn't like being with a taller woman. ;)
Who's Smarter: Depends on what we're talking about. I think we're pretty even. I can beat him at a crossword puzzle and math problem, but he can do sports trivia and entertainment trivia and computer stuff better than I can.
Who Cooks Dinner: Depends on the day.
Who does Laundry: Depends on who's out of clean underwear. :)
Who does dishes: We do pretty well at taking turns. No, I'm not a bad wife. While we're both working full-time, we can both cook dinner, do laundry, and do dishes.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed: In bed looking up at the ceiling, I do. Standing at the foot of the bed, he does. Reasoning is that he's closer to the door and can protect me from people who are rummaging through basement bedrooms looking for someone to kill...
Who mows the lawn: Given our past living situation in an apartment, we've never had to mow a lawn. We'll find out who does it in a month or so...
Who wears the pants: Neither of us, really.
Who drives when together: BJ. I don't like to drive.
Who Pays the Bills: BJ took charge of the bills in our apartment. Now lots of the bills are paid directly from my mom's banking account so looks like I get to take care of it now.
Who has more Siblings: You be the judge... I have 6 siblings, BJ has 2.
What have I left out: Come now, we barely touched the surface of life with the Densleys. ;)
Here's where I'm supposed to tag someone. I'm not going to, but it's kinda fun to look back on how we fell in love. I'd bet it's more fun when the wedding wasn't only 1 year ago. Feel free to tag yourself. :D

We've got a tiny addition to our family!
We have a new member of our family! She's the cutest little thing and we are so happy to have her here with us now. Don't worry, I haven't been hiding anything from anyone out there. It's not a baby girl (although someday it will be), it's a puppy!
Her name is Sadie and we picked her up last Saturday. We've been wanting a friend for Moose for a long time, we always feel bad when we leave for work and he's home by himself for 9 hours. The only problem was we didn't have much room in our apartment for two dogs, and now we live at the in-laws (who were opposed to a second dog in the house). So, I was goofing around on ksl.com and found Sadie's ad and couldn't help myself. I talked with Jer and we decided to just go by and see her. We didn't want to get all excited for a dog and find out she was ugly or something. Yes, I'm superficial with my pets like that. I joke around with Jer that I hope our kids aren't ugly, I may end up liking the pets more. :)
Jer's parents are currently at the MTC getting ready to go to Africa and we went down on Saturday morning to take them to lunch and go to the temple. Turns out couple missionaries have it good down there, at least compared to what the kids deal with. For example, they don't have to live at the dorm and when they are not in class they can go out to eat if they want or go shopping. Anyway, we got down there with the intention of going to lunch and finding a way to bring up the puppy situation. We were planning on going to see Sadie as soon as we finished visiting.
Turns out Jer's sister Jamie took the parents to breakfast so they didn't want lunch. Problem with that was Jer and I were planning on eating first so we hadn't had anything to eat yet. Needless to say we were hungry. As a solution, Jer's parents went into the MTC and got Jer and me a sack lunch. Not Sphaghetti Factory like we were hoping for, but it did keep our stomachs from waking up all the people sitting around us during the session.
After the session we headed to Jamba Juice to have a drink and visit, and along the way we brought up getting a puppy. Very smoothly. Okay, not so much. Jer pretty much just asked if we could get a puppy because we may have found one we wanted. We both managed to conatin our excitement when we heard the classic answer, "Do what you want". We had our Jamba and after dropping off the parents back at the MTC, we headed out to Eagle Mountain. This was a very long day for me just because of all the driving.
We met Sadie and we knew we liked her when we got inside. She snuggled right up to me and that's all it really took. She's a spaz but she is so cute! She's 7 or so months old, and just skin and bones right now. We're working on bulking her up. We seem to be good at that (just ask how much I weigh right now. Wait, don't ask). We learned part of the problem was her food, it was going right through her. I'll get into how we found that out in a second. She's calming down and learning to fit in with our family, and Moose is learning to share and be friends with her. That's exactly why we wanted to get another dog, just so Moose would learn to not be so jealous of anyone around us. Specifically a baby. No, Jer is not pregnant yet. We're just preparing the way I guess you could say.
We got Sadie home and decided she needed a decent haircut. The poor girl that owned her before us had tried to give her one before we showed up but the clippers broke. She had little patches that were too short, and after we started to shave her we could see why. Did I mention our new puppy is a spaz? Try cutting her hair. Especially her front paws. Jer has a nice scratch right below her right eye. I wonder if people at church the next day thought it was from me...
Anyway, we found out that Sadie is what I like to call a nervous poo-er. Not in the sense that she can't poo with other people around, but that the moment she gets nervous she lets it go! And if nothing is up there at the moment you still get the smell. We were shaving her and wondering why it smelled. Jer had her in her lap holding Sadie while I shaved her. We switched it up and that is when I found out what she was doing. I had a little pile forming right next to my leg as she was whining. So we decided to take a break and clean things up before we finished, and that is when we saw that there was a bunch more by Jer. Well, more like on Jer. At some point she ended up sitting in it.
I have to say I never thought something that small could poop that much. Because she wasn't done. She didn't have much left, but she had enough to make another mess by the end. That's when we found out just how starved Sadie was. We think it was a combination of food not sticking with her (we had fed her 30 minutes before) and depression. Her previous owners kept her in a cage/kennel thing mostly all day long. That's why they were getting rid of her - they didn't have time to take care of her. And that's why it's good that we got her. :) She was really skittish with us that first day. Probably didn't help that we gave her a haircut the first night in a new house. She's like a little rat dog right now. I think she'll bulk up though. We're hoping she'll get at least close to 20 pounds in the next few months.
That's our news for now, other than that we are just taking care of the house and working. Jer's parents are coming here to stay tomorrow night before they leave on Friday to Africa. So we expect to spend at least part of the night visiting with them. And have popcorn. We make the popcorn on the stove and man is it good. One of these days we'll have to have some friends up here and you can try it out. So good!
Time for bed, so I'm off. Hope everyone is doing well!
