Nothing is more fun than having a belated Christmas in Charlotte with all the cousins!!

Christmas #2

As usual, we travelled to Charlotte, NC to see my family the day after Christmas. Thankfully, there was hardly any traffic so we made it in plenty of time for dinner. Lots of cousin playtime was had when we arrived, and we had a Mexican feast that night for Bec's birthday dinner (complete with John's famous "pantydropper margs." So fun!
 This is what happens when you drink pantydropper margs…...family cartwheel contest! (And no, Nanny did NOT win, though she thought she did! :)
 All the cousins had matching Christmas onesies, and a certain 3 year old *could not wait* to be twins with Nate! :)
 Celebrating Bec turning 37!!
 Mike got amazing cupcakes for Bec's birthday!!!
 Gibson and Teddy, party animals!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The kids were just a *wee* bit excited to open presents the morning of the 27th! And boy, did they have lots to open!! #spoiledrotten
 Aunt Lora once again got ornaments made for the kids and hid them on the tree with a hundred dollar bill inside!!!!! Clearly, Nate & Abby have the biggest smiles and that is why :)
 We let the kids open a few presents, then we took a break for (mimosas and) breakfast, and then we finished up presents around 11 am. Fun morning!
 The afternoon was filled with lots of playtime, laughs, and our annual family walk to Starbucks.
 And then the most dreaded exciting part of our week: family pictures :)
Nanny & Poppy with ALL of their grands!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Friday morning, Lora and her family had to head back to Raleigh. It was a nasty, rainy day, so Nanny & Poppy (bravely) took the 4 big kids to see "Mary Poppins Returns" in the theater. They all gave it (and the popcorn) rave reviews.

 Miss Priss didn't mind being the only child left at home, especially when her daddy put together her new bike!! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday got off to a good start because the sun finally came out!! Everyone took a family walk (minus Greg & Nate who went for a run on the greenway). And then it was time for #girlsday and #boysday!!
The girls did what we do best.....go shopping & went out to lunch! Abby especially loved the extra time with her fave cousin Charlie Kate.
 We also made chocolate-dipped oreos and took a short walk once CK was up from her nap. Such a fun, relaxing day!
The boys left around lunchtime and headed to the Wake Forest basketball game in W-S. Poppy was thrilled to have 3 of his grandsons there to cheer on the Deacs.
 And then, the night was topped off when our cousin, Betsy, arrived from Cincinnati, OH with her sweet family!!! They were in town visiting a friend who had recently relocated to Charlotte. We had pizza (and LOTS of oreos) and got to watch some football. Great family time and *so* fun to see Bets! It's been over a years since we last saw them.
Cheering on Alabama! #rolltide
The boys were glued to the TV during the Alabama game!
(Henry, Ollie, Anderson, Nate)
We left early on Sunday morning and headed home to Tuscaloosa, It was a great visit, as always, and we can't wait to see everyone again at Easter. Love my fam!
Christmas 2018
The kids woke up around 6:30 am on Christmas morning and impatiently waited for the clock to turn to 7:00!!
 They were VERY happy with what Santa left:
Abby got new bedding and pillows, as well as a furry beanbag
Nate got an XL beanbag and a new iPad!
 I didn't take too many pictures on Christmas morning, but the kids were thrilled with all of their gifts.....
Turtles for Abby and Gadgets for Nate!
My gift from Abby :)
Abby made 11 gifts for Nate since he's 11 years old :) She is the sweetest!
Our neighbor, Evers, asked for bubble wrap for Xmas! He & Nate had a fun afternoon goofing off
My fave part of Christmas - Greg's shrimp & grits!!! :)
Christmas Eve 2018
Christmas Eve is full of traditions for our family!
First up, making cookies for Santa. The kids are always hesitant to dig into the flour and roll out the dough and make a mess. But once they are in it, they love it!!
 During lunch, Nate's tooth fell out! It has been loose for awhile but I didn't think it was that close to falling out! (Sidenote: I think this is the *first* time he has not cried when a tooth came out! Just took getting to tooth #14 :)
 My cuties before Christmas Eve Children's Mass....
 Abby opted out of the Children's Mass this year, but Nate still wanted to take part and be one of the three kings. He helped to bring up the gifts at mass and did a great job :)
 My favorite Christmas Eve tradition is our pizza picnic in front of the tree for dinner! I have fond memories of these picnics from my childhood :)
 Greg reading the kids the Christmas story....
 Abby wanted to write the letter to Santa this year and ask for him to finish up the construction in front of our neighborhood. Ha!
 The kids love having a sleepover in Nate's room on Christmas Eve night, but for once, Nate asked if Abby could sleep on an air mattress. He is getting too big (literally) for Abby to share a bed with him! Abby happily obliged, as long as she got to be in Nate's room :)
