Gingerbread Houses

We made HOMEMADE Gingerbread houses this year! My friend and neighbor taught us how! Aren't these SO, SO cute?! : ) They were a lot of work, but we did have lots of fun making them. Definitely a tradition we want to keep!

Christmas Letter 2009

My Christmas cards are almost ready: they are bought, stuffed in the envelopes and partially addressed, but, at this rate, I'm not sure when I'll ever get them out. Hopefully next week when I have the week off! YAY!

This year has really been a roller coaster ride for our family. We have had many ups and just as many downs. But, we remain positive and full of faith that this next coming year will be better for us.

Elise is a big 2nd grader. She enjoys school and loves her teacher. She is a really great reader too! Every time she reads to me I nearly melt. Elise is very kind and very considerate of others. She makes friends easily. Lately, you'll find Elise listening to her iPod or playing school or playing with Littlest Pet Shop. She loves her cheer and tumbling class and she also loves to play on the computer. Most of the time she is very pleasant and enjoyable to be around, but, she does have her days as do we all!

Andrew is a rockin' Kindergartner. Before this year, he really lacked interest in sitting down and learning his letters and numbers, etc., but, something happened, I'm not sure whether it was his awesome teacher or just, finally, school clicked for him. Either way, I'm so happy he is advancing so rapidly. He recently won an award and is now apart of the Principal's 200 Club for his Academic Achievements. Andrew is a teaser. He is happy 99.9% of the time, always wearing a smile. He is so easy going and amiable. He is a great brother and is best friend's with Matthew. Andrew loves Transformers and Bakugans, mostly. He also loves to play on the computer and loves to do his homework!

Matthew is in pre-school this year. He goes 3 days a week and is such a smartie pants. He knows all of his letters and numbers and some sight words too. He wants to be as big and as good as his big brother. He is a little chatter box and will tell you all kinds of stories if you let him. Everyday he says something clever but I'm not so good at recording his cute words. He is certainly a mama's boy, but this past year he has perhaps traded sides . . . or maybe mom and dad are just equals now, I'm not sure! Matthew loves sports and transformers, cars and bakugans. He is very snuggly and loves to cuddle - I hope that never changes!

Ben has been busy with both real estate and construction. He tries to stay busy during these hard times, but sometimes he just plays Mr. Mom which is great when I come home to a clean house and dinner on the table. Ben has also been busy with his calling as a Clerk in the Bishopric. Aside from all that, he keeps up with politics and sports.

Courtney started teaching high school this year and she likes it, mostly. She teaches a hodge podge of classes -- Reading/Writing Lab for kids who are below grade level, Humanities (which she adores) and Foods (she really likes this too but it's not helping in her weight loss endeavors!). Courtney also took on Cheerleading. She's the head coach and is very busy trying to get the girls whipped into shape! Also, in what spare time she has, she works on real estate with Ben, and helps on the ward activities committee AND is the Primary Chorister (which she loves, by the way). She commits to way too much and has a problem saying NO! (Please, I need counseling on how to say NO!)

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
