A Shower and A Wedding...

(H, Me, B, H, M)
A friend from my masters program got married this week. On Tuesday some of the gals from school went to a bridal shower for her out in the boonies of West Jordan. All I can say is that this party was a reaffirmation that I do not enjoy "party games" either of the bridal or baby shower type. Oh well, at least I didn't have to put on the paper napkin wedding dress myself :)

Saturday the 26th of May was her actual wedding and a couple of us from school were invited to the sealing at the Salt Lake Temple. It was very nice and she had a lovely dinner afterwards. However, my feet were killing me by dinner time since we had spent a little over 2 hours wasting time while the bride and groom took pictures. Ah the joys of weddings :)

Happiest Place on Earth

So, for my first vacation of the summer (I say the first since there will quite possibly be numerous) I drove down to Southern California with my brother and his family in their new mini-van. Exciting huh? I spent most of the time at my grandma's house helping her move some stuff but the real excitement came from my day at Disneyland. I went to Disneyland with my friend K who was my roommate for a couple of years at BYU.

This is the Buzz Lightyear ride and man was it ever intense (as displayed by my level of concentration). I, of course, lost since K had been on the ride before, increasing her skill level (that's what I tell myself at least). If there was more time in the day I was going to go back to this ride and challenge her again, but no such luck... the day was jam-packed with too many exciting rides and activities! My nephew C (3 yrs) was too sad to talk to me on the phone anymore after I told him I went to Disneyland and rode the Buzz Lightyear ride without him... At least if he had been there hopefully I would have beaten him :)

Kristen was able to get a hopper ticket for only $4 more than a regular ticket so we spent a couple of hours across the way at California Adventure. I ended up riding the ride displayed behind me, California Screamin'. And yes, I screamed. I had ridden the ride before but was still not prepared for the speed at which they started the ride. K even convinced me to ride the Tower of Terror which is basically a ride that drops you a little, brings you back up, drops you a little more, etc. Needless to say, in that picture (I didn't purchase it for the following reason) I was clutching my purse and screaming as my purse floated in the air towards my face. Not likely to repeat that ride again, but I guess I can say I did it :)

To top off the exciting day, we went to visit our old pal Mickey. What is Disneyland with out a picture of Mickey Mouse!?!?! I must say that I rode more rides on this trip than I ever care to ever ride again. The 3 dramamine pills that I took didn't do the trick... This may be the end of my amusement park days. Sad huh? Oh well... we'll see what I can be talked into in the future :)

The End Has Come!

On May 3rd I graduated from the University of Utah with my Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. Honestly, I never thought I would make it... Had someone told me five years ago that I would complete a Masters Degree I would have laughed in their face, but the end has come! I have only had "a few" nightmares that this day would never happen...

As many of you may know, my family is not big on graduations, however all of my friends were walking so my parents were pressured into coming to my graduation ceremony. It all worked out though... I told them it would be 2 hours long and then when it was only an hour and 15 minutes they were pleasantly surprised :) However, I couldn't have made it through all this schooling without them so I was glad they were there to celebrate with me. (I was too cheap to buy the stole of gratitude for them though... I figured they would just think: "Great, more junk")

My brother J graduated from BYU last week with his MBA, so since we suffered similarly for the last two years, it was nice to have him at my graduation. (In case you noticed the cars in the background, my family was being ever efficient and taking pictures in the parking lot before graduation even started - eliminating the wait time afterwards considerably!)

This is just one of MANY pictures that I took of people in my class. About 23 of us have all been in the same classes for the last two years, so it will be sad not to see them every week. The excitement is radiating from our faces... can you tell?????
