Fun at the Park

We celebrated Aimee's birthday on Saturday with some of the Cluff family. We met at the park by my parents' home. Unfortunately, not everyone could come, but we still had a great time: All who were there: Our family of four, Grandma and Grandpa Cluff, Jeremy and Lisa and Family, Scott and Pam and Family, and Great Aunt Zola.

We met at 4 and ate yummy sub sandwiches, chips, and had juice. For dessert we had cupcakes. The kids had fun running around. Even Aimee loved walking all over the place!

Thanks to everyone who came for the company and the gifts. We had a great time!

Happy Day

Today is Brenton's 26th Birthday! He likes to celebrate it, and so do I. I'm so thankful that he was born and that I was able to meet him and now we can be together forever. He is the best man I know. My life is happier with him in it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Brenton!!!!

Happy Birthday, Aimee

Here are a few pics from today's celebration. We are having a little family party on Saturday and so I will post more later :)

Unfortunately, Aimee wasn't feeling very well today so it made for a rough day. WE stayed home most of the day. My dad came and took me and the kids to McD's for lunch and to Walmart so I could buy mix for cupcakes. Other than that, we just played at home. Tonight, we came over to my parents to take care of some stuff and we sang Happy Birthday and ate cupcakes. She loved the frosting!!!

Aimee's Birth Story

I realized that I never wrote all of Aimee's birth story. I thought it would be good to do for her birthday. I hope I can remember the details correctly.
Because of the complications I had from Bryson's labor and delivery, as well as my doctors' input and insurance issues, we scheduled a c-section for Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 at 10 AM.
I had a hard time sleeping the night before. I was so excited! The morning of Jan. 26th, I got up and showered and got ready. We left Bryson with Brenton's sister, Breanne and headed to the hospital (I think it was 7 AM). I believe we had to be there by 8. We arrived at Timanogos Regional hospital and got checked into the room.
The nurses hooked me up to monitors and started prepping a little for the surgery. The surgery wasn't scheduled to begin until 10, but a few minutes later the nurses came in and announced that my Drs were there. I believe it was Dr. Gammette and I don't remember... They were ready for me! So, the nurses hurried and prepped me and had me walk down the hall to OR while Brenton got dressed in his scrubs.
I walked into the OR and froze! I heard they keep in cold to keep it sterile... but I hated it! The anesthesiologist was there and ready to put in my epidural. I had a wonderful nurse who held me the whole time he was putting it in my back. Since I was so cold, I was shaking. They laid me down on the table and put my arms out and put the curtain up. If I remember correctly, my arms were strapped down to keep me from moving much. Brenton came in by that point. By this time, I started freaking out. I felt like I could not breathe. They put oxygen on me and assured me that I really could breathe, but I felt like I couldn't due to the epidural. I freaked out more and the anesthesiologist gave me a shot of *something* to relax me. I was still freezing and was shaking the whole time. The nurses and anesthesiologist kept reassuring me that I was fine and I needed to stop fighting the shaking and my body would calm down.
Brenton held my hand and was a great support. We just sat there listening to the Drs. cutting away. That was definitely an interesting thing.
A few minutes later, the Dr. asked Brenton if he wanted to look over and see his baby girl. She had some beautiful dark hair on her head. They pulled her out and the nurses took her away. I think I remember telling Brenton he could go with her while they finished up with me.
Aimee Ann Jensen was born at 10:00 AM exactly on January 26th, 2010. She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19 inches long. She had these cute chubby cheeks and was perfect.
I was taken back to my room and given some time to rest and let the epidural wear off. A few hours later, they sent me to a different room for Most of my recovery was pretty easy. I was able to get up easier and earlier. Moving around wasn't as painful. The most difficult part was that my pain meds made me so sick. I was throwing up after the c-section and had an upset stomach for days. I switched medicine, but the new stuff didn't help me either . I was so sick the first day I didn't get to spend much time with my little angel Aimee. I'm not sure what I'll do next time around...
Breanne was kind enough to bring Bryson to the hospital to see us the day she was born, and every day afterwards. My mom flew into town on Thursday and took Bryson with her to visit my Aunt Leslie. We were discharged on Friday.
Looking back on my whole labor/delivery experience, I realize it was night and day compared to when I had Bryson. I loved being able to schedule the delivery. I loved being able to plan and prepare for it. The nurses and doctors were fabulous. I was so pleased with the whole experience.
More than anything, I am just thankful that I got a healthy, happy, sweet, baby girl out of it. We love our little Maimee. She is such a joy in our family. I know I say that all the time. But she makes us all smile everyday. She is a happy girl.
We are so blessed!

Home Update...

I feel so behind on the blog. I haven't posted pics of the kids in a few days. I like doing that often.
Today, we signed papers on our home. It is supposed to close tomorrow. Brenton was extremely excited. He can't wait to get into it. I, on the other hand, am a little bit more nervous. How are we going to pay the mortgage? Having that big bill for 30 years scares me. We have other ones- credit cards, student loans... I hate those too. Don't get me wrong, I am excited. I look forward to having our own home again. This time, we can paint it whatever color we want and put as many holes in the wall as we feel like. I just get scared of money commitments.
First, is changing the locks. Then, getting the carpet/tile cleaned. Then, Brenton has a few small repairs to do while I clean.
Hopefully, we'll be able to get it done quick, so we can move in.
I feel blessed to have this home. It seems like nothing short of a miracle that we found it and actually got it. I am thankful for a very hard working and optimistic husband. We're in for a fun adventure!

Aimee, the Walker

Our sweetheart baby girl started walking more yesterday. A while back, I posted that she had taken her first steps. Well, after that, she wouldn't walk again no matter how we coaxed her. Yesterday, she started walking again. And a lot. She took 3-5 steps here and there, then 8 steps to her daddy, then back to mommy, then she walked to the table in the family room. She won't do it when we coax her, but when no one is paying attention to her. We were even having an extended family home evening and she just started walking in the middle of the room. We are so proud of her! It's so exciting that she'll be running around before we know it! Although, this does mean more baby proofing and being in the halls at church because she will not sit still now. We love our precious Aimee! Oh, and we were so excited watching her we forgot to take pics! Hopefully we can take some soon.

Primary

Brenton and I have been CTR 6 teachers in our ward since about April or May I believe. I was also the Activity Days Leader for the 10-11 year old girls. Since we are moving in the next week or so, at the beginning of the year, we were released from those callings. Yesterday, I was semi-lost at church. I went to Sunday School and Relief Society, And I have to admit a little bit, I missed Primary. No more singing fun songs... no more listening to the childrens' testimonies. When we taught, I was always so stressed with our class. They were sometimes good, sometimes little stinkers. I obviously miss them now. I hate admitting this.

Happy New Year!

Last night we rang in 2011 with some family and friends. We went over to Scott and Pam's house with my parents. Pam's brother, Daniel, and his wife Priscilla (and kids) were there too.
We let Maims go to sleep at 6:30 then woke her up at 8 to go over there. She was wired for a couple hours, then we put her back to bed over there. Bryson stayed awake the entire time. He had fun playing with the other kids, but mostly he played with cars.
We watched movies (How to Train A Dragon, Unbreakable) and played 13 Dang It and Balderdash. The food was yummy- party meatballs (Brenton's favorite) and chips, dip, veggies, crackers, cheese, meat, and more junk food.
It was a pretty perfect night. Time with family. Fun memories. We toasted the New Year by 11:55 then braved the cold to watch some fireworks and set some sparklers off ourselves. I got a really good kiss at midnight from my hubby. One of those that reminded me why I married him- well, at least one of the reasons.
All the sudden, at the New Year, I felt this new energy and renewal and optimism for 2011. I look forward to a new year with my family. I hope you feel the same way.
I look forward to another year of blogging about it. Hope you do too!
