M-J in a nutshell
yes, people are complaining and making noise. so here i am. drifted into dreamland shortly after dinner, felt piggish. done with exams. moved our stuff for storage. london for last minute gifts. British Airways brings kenny home. wasn't a bad ride with xin. havent met her for 2 weeks prior to our departure. singapore. warmish and humidish weather greeted us. jummping and excited family members awaited for us.
6 days on what has happened?
ate cheap and good singapore food. watched spiderman with xin and hy. started my attachment with Mindef. complain abt the warm weather whenever i step out of the house. and for the record, IT'S REaLLY warm. met frens. exchanged hugs and handshakes. back to work again. office boy stuff. friday night and here i am! glad to be back, albeit the hot weather, i am totally in love FFF - Frens Family Food. appreciative of the Singapore way of life. more to be done, more frens to seen and more food to be eaten.

bleah..
it's the wee hours of the morning and here i am trying to make progress in the game called "Kill the exam". had enough of gallivanting in cyber-world, reading people's blog, checking on the latest football news, trying to watch stupid clips on YouTube. i am amazed that i can do seemingly unintellectual stuff online for hours and realise that i have wasted a lot of time. there's nothing seemingly exciting about my life right now unless "reading lecture notes or studying for exams" is one of your favourite things to do. 0.O. well, what's left of the road up to home? exams, moving out, a trip to highlands with the singsoc, another trip to London?, packing and singapore. it's been 8 exhilarating months since i left sunny island SinG-gAhhh...pohhh. homecoming is awaiting, loads to do when i get back home. family, friends and driving!!! these will be my impetus for studying for exams. lately, my desire to drive has been so tremendous that i constantly dream of cars.... guys and cars.. anyway, that's all for this post... trying to digest that a wee bit more of that mawkish tasting non-biological biology notes.

No rout repeat? braveheart rooney and brilliant kaka.
What a match! ronaldo put the red devils in front in the 5th min but defensive errors by the depleted and makeshift back line of manchester united gave the milan the lead at half time as brilliance of kaka tormented the defense. with henize running like a turtle, there was no way he could catch up with the lightning quick kaka. surprisingly, in the 2nd half, ac milan turned down the tempo of the game hoping to protect their 2 away goals. united went in search of the equaliser but they were denied by fine saves by dida and missed opportunities by carrick and fletcher. and then, it came after a deft flick by scholes and rooney surging forward to put it pass dida. goal!!! and just as we thought the game was gonna be a draw, the winner came in injury time as rooney with a first time shot, after a pass from giggs, rifled the ball into the back of the milanese net. the pub erupted as man utd's search for the treble is still on. great job boyS!!! glory glory man utd!!!

Singaporeans of Venice.... by kenny
i am back. managed to get my blog back in order. decided to stick with a simple template. back to the story as the two lil pigs march to venice from milan by train. that was when we encountered bad italian service as we bought our youth saver pass at the train station. apparently, the lady at the counter was quite disgruntled as she had difficulties understanding our demands and had problems using the computer. she took her own time to key in details as we anxiously lose precious time with the next train to venice leaving in 5mins. we missed the train but managed to catch another train was leaving not long after. arrive at venezia mestre, found our accommodation and lazed in bed for 1 hr before heading to the city of water, venice!
venice mestre was off venice city, so we had to take the 10 min train via liberty bridge to reach the island itself. we stood by the grand canal and took pictures of the beautiful city. the weather was superb as we walked along the streets into the heart of the city. it's amazing how the paths would lead to a small canal with gondolas boobing by as the city. it's totally useless to use a map in venice as it is a labyrinth when u explore the streets.. bleah.
shops selling pretty venetian mask and costumes went by as we further explored the city. you can really find neat souvenirs in some shops. pastries looked really exciting as we bought some for breakfast... we stopped for gelatos and pizza. the tour of the city carried on the next day. but to our dismal, it rained non-stop the next day. what a way to explore the floating city. we got around by following arrows pointing towards per san marco. stopped by an excellent trattoria for pasta.
we finally found the main attraction, which is the bascilica di san marco situated in the only piazza of the island. pigeons littered the piazza as tourist buy feed to feed them. i wish i am a pigeon, u get free food all the time. piazza san marco. touted as "the drawing room of europe" by napolean, it is the only empty space in europe where human voices prevail over the sounds of motorised traffic and it is lowest point of the island. we stood in the rain snapping pictures of the awesome st mark's basilica and its bell tower. we hid in the basilica for a fairly long time to hide from the cold and rain before deciding that we had enough of the romantic city. headed home to have pizza takeaway for dinner. i dried my jeans, socks and shoes using the light bulbs and lamps in the room and eventually burnt some parts of them. o.O. slept early to catch the morning train to firenz
totally mesmerised by the layout of the city, the canals, pretty gondolas that were too expensive, uniqueness of the city, bridges, venetian masks..... that's all for venice. catch me for the next part the journey as the two lil pigs head south to florence. ciao!

Wee, off to italy. milan!!!
it's 4.14 am and it appears that i am not gonna sleep tonight. behold singapore! for i, kenny, will be home in june. watch me count down the grueling days to the exams and the anxious days to home bound flight. yes. for now, a tale of many italian cities will unfold before your eyes... once upon a time, there were 2 lil pigs. they left their warm lil huts in edinburgh and made way for their italian adventure. it was their virgin trip to italy. we started our long journey around italia from glasgow prestwick. flight was in ard 7pm (uk time) landing in milan bergamo orio al serio airport at 2330pm (italian time)
Having wanted to save money for the first night, we decided to sleep in the airport till daybreak. Man, it was a pretty bad idea with no food and no entertainment. well, not when u have drunked scots running around in kilts, singing songs as they waited for the a flight to Bari to watch their fellow countrymen play the world champions the following day. xy suggested making poker cards out of paper and we promptly did so. tried playing dai dee but i was instantly disoriented with 26 paper cards the size of memory sticks and spades not looking like spades. but i won cuz the silly girl ending with a 'dee'.
soon, daylight appear and shops opened. we had our first italian breakfast of crossiants and italian coffee before missing 10 buses heading for bergamo city centre. we waited diligently in the morning cold for the next bus with tickets from a not-easy-to-use ticketing machine.
Bergamo consist of two city centers: Citta Alta and Citta Bassa. meaning, upper city and lower city. we got our train tickets to milan and realised that we still had time to spare. we snapped pictures along our way from the train station to somewhere close to citta alta. had macdonalds breakfast before boarding the 1030 train bound for milan. within moments, i strayed into dreamland, waking up once in awhile to capture a few shots of the lombardy landscape. we arrive at milan and the train station is mother huge. i was amazed at how big it appeared as we made our way of of the train station.
The first thing on our minds was to locate Hotel Brasil. we navigated the milanese streets with a printed map, courtesy of google earth and found ourselves in Giardini Publicci. we sat by the fountain watching kids playing and dogs chasing one another. we finally found our hotel and slept for 2 hrs before deciding to visit the attractions. first stop was the milan duomo. duomo is an italian word for cathedral. we navigate the mazy streets, chancing upon the shopping district where power brands such as Dolce and Gabanna, Valentino, Paul Smith and Chanel can be found. Fashion capital, enough said.
suddenly, the streets exploded into an huge empty area where the milan duomo stood beautifully in the sun. having not eaten anything since breakfast in bergamo, we settled for pizza at spizzico and our first gelato of the trip followed. milan duomo was huge as we explored the interiors, sneakily snapping a few illegal shots here and there. we settled for more pictures of the majestic cathedral and explored in immediate surroundings. having seen enough pigeons in the piazza where the cathedral stood, we trotted off to the Castello Sforzesco which was just a mere 1.5km away. took a few picturesque shots of the castle before heading home. chanced upon the Leonardo da Vinci statue. before we bumped into dinner. bushed from all that travelling in the first day, we rested early as the next destination was Venice. Santa Maria delle Grazie housed the famous The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci but we didnt have the time to see that. no time for the san siro stadium either. that's all for the first day in italy. tired but happy and excited that we are in italy.

roman way of life.....
I am back! having tasted Italian pasta, pizza and gelato, i am finally home from the republic of Italy. the past 12days have been amazingly fun, crazy, beautiful and tiring. do like the Romans do, they say, we did and we establish a love-hate relationship with the Italians. you love them for their art, culture, delicious food and architecture. you hate them for their strikes (not that it affected us), lousy service and their attitude. not to forget their dirty streets. on the contrary, i love their heavily gratified walls. it was an eye opening experiencing, battling crazy traffic, fighting queue-cutting Italians and getting them to understand our F-grade Italian. really lucky to have experienced and absorb the Italian way of life. the chronicles of my adventure will be unfolded in a couple of days time as i battle laundry, grocery, overdue library books and getting back on track on exam preparations. brb. arrividerci e grazie* (bye and thanks)

woke up to a morning of haze and fog and coupled with the fact most of the scots and english are home for Easter, my neighbourhood appears to be a dead town. mind you, it's the school holidays not the Queen's birthday or St Andrew's day.
BBC weather reads: Morning fog then some warm sunshine. cloudy @ 5 degree Celsius. I was just wondering how warm sunshine really felt. just seem to miss and forgot how it feels to be 'burnt' by the blistering 'singaporean' heat and scorching 'singapore' sun. it appears that we are all sharing the same sun, if you haven't realise, but you hardly feel the strength of sun here in edinburgh.
its spring and the daylight saving thingy has kicked in it last sunday. so it's G.M.T +7 not +8, for people back home in singapore. don't ask me why cuz i can't really explain. check Wikipedia. it has answers for almost everything. not everything but most. is spring supposed to be this cold? well, the weather has been rather erratic and i can't really find a fixed weather template to label spring. i used to think that a temperature of 5 degree Celsius is cold but it's not that bad. i prefer to have a blistering cold day than a dreadful gusty windy day. winds here reach speeds up to 20-40 mph which is about 30-60 kmh. well, it sounds harmless numerically but it's terrible when you see things flying all over the place, overturned umbrellas, toppled road hoardings. so hold on to you sandwich when you are having a picnic on a day like this.
will be experiencing Italian air and cuisine the same time tomorrow morning, can't help feeling excited. got to pack soon cuz we are leaving for Glasgow Prestwick airport at 2.30pm. our flight is 8.00pm. that's all for now. ci vediamo (see you in Italian)

welcome...
Good day lads,
Been pretty busy and sorry for the long wait if you have been yearning to hear from me. kenny will be home soon. i can hear the cheers!!! keep u just posted on the details for that. what have i been doing? school term is ending tmrw and easter holidays are starting this friday. therefore, i needed to turn in all my work before we fly off for the break. had this crazy report to do the week before and many other reports days before that. despite that, i havent been attending lectures diligently. I need to get my lazy bum off the bed and start revising for the degree exams which are due in may. Wanna see pictures? hee. welcome to warrender park crescent.

This is where home is!! green arrow!!

See the patch of greenery around my place. this is how it looks like! It's called the meadows!
ok! u can catch rainbows in singapore!
well, that's not snow. but frozen morning dew!!! brr...
The meadows is where people can play soccer, frisbee, laze around, read a book (when it is warmer), play catch with their beautiful dogs and do crazy things. There is a small patch where people play golf. yes! it's no joke but locals bring a few golf clubs and strut their stuff on the green. it's an intelligent sport! apparently, i am the only one who thinks so. the singaporean girls never understand the true meaning behind golf! nvm. got a "shaky "pic of dudes having fun in the rain. btw, golf is born here!! not in edinburgh but st andrew's.

Well back to the main stuff. look at the map again and u will see peaks of high ground on the far right of it. It is called arthur's seat! yay, standing at 251 metres, it is an old volancic rock extinct since the carboniferous age. well, that's courtesy of wikipedia actually. hee. judging from the name, you would think that there are some connections to the legendary King Arthur. it was said that king arthur watched his army's defeat of the Picts from there. Thks, wikipedia! Oops. this is how it loOks like!
