Silly Me.

So, being the awesome Mother that I am, I posted pictures of Emily on her first day of school, and forgot to post Kurt's. He is going to the same preschool that Emily went to for the past two years. He is also getting 20 min. of speech therapy for his speech delay/auditory processing disorder, which is wonderful.
So here is our big boy with his friend Abby, he just loves her to pieces! I went in with him, thinking he would be sad if I left, silly me, he practically told me to go home!
Here's the big boy on his bike before school, he really loves his bike. We are so proud of our boy, he has overcome so much and continues to amaze us with his progress. Love you Kurty!
School Days are here!

Emily started Kindergarten on Wednesday, such a big girl! It was so exciting to see her so happy to go to school. She lined up with her class and followed her teacher inside without looking back once. I am so proud of her!
Emily is going to John Hancock Charter School, which is super exciting for me. It was the school I have dreamed of putting her in since I can remember. She didn't originally get in, but just days before school was going to start I got the call and knew we had to switch her over. She LOVES it!
She was just as cute on day 2, so we took another picture, the lighting was bad though, so it didn't come out as good. I was really surprised with myself. I did really well on Day 1, I didn't cry, I wasn't stressed, but it was like I was dropping her off at day camp or something. On day 2, it was quite different. Mike dropped her off on his way to work, so I didn't get to bring her. I cried and worried and missed her very much. She had a blast without me though. Yesterday, I did better, but I still missed her.
Next week I will post some pictures of Kurt's first day of preschool, can't believe he is going to go. He has really grown a lot this summer, he is even starting to speak in sentences (yay!) His comprehension is still quite low, but his therapist is going to work with him on that, as am I. I have seen some amazing improvements already. Sydney will just be hanging out with me this year, it will be great to get some good one on one time with her, it is a rare thing with two older siblings so close in age.

So little miss Emily will be five in 1 1/2 weeks! I can't believe it, she is growing up so fast. I registered her for kindergarten and showed her where she is going to be going to school, and boy is she excited.
Lately she has been really sweet. She is constantly drawing pictures and giving them to people. Yesterday she brought me a picture of her and I in alien costumes. On friday in preschool she drew a picture of a dead fairy. Not sure where she is getting this stuff, but it is pretty funny.
So recently we gave Emily her own room, she has been sharing since Kurtis was born, and it was just not working. So we put the two younger kiddos together and gave Emily her own room, and even got her a new bed. It has been really interesting to see how well she takes care of her room when it is her very own. She cleans it and makes her bed everyday without being asked. It is so funny.
Sunday night before bed she humbly requested breakfast in bed. Why? because she is almost 5. I told her maybe for her birthday.
So with her birthday, I have a small dilemma. Emily's birthday is April 2nd, which is the day of Saturday conference. So we decided to have her party on Friday which is also April Fools Day. I thought it would be fun to throw her a Halloween Birthday Party as a April Fools joke. She is convinced however that she needs to have a Hello Kitty Party. I already bought everything for her Halloween Party though, I even found a pumpkin pinata. I think she will still be happy with her silly Halloween party, but I am just not sure. What would you do?
Miracle boy!

So our sweet little boy Kurtis has now been officially in remission for 3 years! That means only 2 more to go and he will officially be cured of Neuroblastoma. We have seen so many miracles in this little boy, and we are so so grateful for him.
Today I found out that one of the sweet girls that was in the hospital at the same time passed away. Natalie was 22 years old, only 19 when we met her. Her name was Natalie, she was so sweet, before we left the hospital for the last time with Kurtis she gave him some toys and a little knit hat she had made for him.
Sorry to be so depressing, it just breaks my heart to see these young people suffer so much with cancer. Especially when they fight so hard, and then they don't make it.
Well enough of the sadness, we know the plan of salvation right, we know that those sweet children, and really all who die, are able to be free from the pains that they suffered in mortality. I am grateful for my little Miracle though, I just love this little boy!
Wow, it's been a while! and some family photos.

Well since it has been SO long since I posted anything, I guess I might as well start again with our family pictures that we got taken in November.
Our friend Rebecca did such a fabulous job! The only problem was that it was FREEZING! Emily of course would not wear pants or tights, so she was especially cold. I should have chosen warmer outfits too.
The kids were so busy, it was hard to get a shot with all three looking at the camera, let alone smiling! This picture actually has Sydney added in. She only sat still for one picture, and the other two weren't looking in that one. Thank goodness Becca could do it! I especially love this picture I think they all look so cute.
I also loved this shot, Mike is always throwing Kurtis around, and he LOVES it!
And what would be more complete than to finish off with a shot of Sydney's new stitches! Poor girl fell and hit her head on Kurt's bed, she split right open and had to get 5 stitches. Sorry for the bath shot, and that it's blurry, I can't seem to get this girl to hold still for 2 seconds! Sure love her!

Christmas (warning: lots of pictures!)

So, I decided I finally needed to update the blog, and being that I never posted about Christmas, I guess I should. I didn't edit any pictures, we have so many! But I hope you still enjoy! After Thanksgiving we set up the Christmas Tree, the kids had so much fun decorating it! Thankfully they didn't bother it too much after it was set up.
Daddy lifted the kids up so they could decorate the top portion of the tree too.
Lovely picture of my big boy Kurtis! Sydney was plenty happy too.
Fast forward to Christmas Eve: Mikes mom and dad came down from Oregon to celebrate with us! The kids got to open traditional Christmas Eve PJ's.
Yes, that is my son wearing necklaces, give him a break, he is surrounded by sisters!
I thought this was funny, I was trying to get a shot with the kids in front of the tree, Emily was a good "helper" notice how she is trying to keep both her siblings sitting, what a good girl!
We made cookies for Santa and put them by the tree, Grandpa ate one before Emily went to bed, she was so mad, she is still calling him "naughty" for stealing one of SANTA'S cookies, we also left a little letter for Santa, Emily was very excited!
Christmas Morning: The loot! Santa went a little overboard this year... Lots of presents!
Here is the car table that we got for Kurtis, we later set up the track.
The tree with many many gifts underneath
Emily's dollhouse, quite a pain to assemble, but very cute and very loved by our princess!
We also got Sydney this activity table, she really likes it, but Kurtis actually thinks it is his, he gets a little upset when Sydney plays with it.
Christmas morning, we are such silly parents, we were so excited we ended up waking them up!
Emily went right for the presents, she knew what to do! (kurtis wouldn't open any, he wanted us to do it for him.)
Doesn't she look excited?!!! Ha ha ha!
Playing, playing, playing...
Emily put on her dress, I thought she looked so precious sitting there, all girl! She is so sweet!
Kurtis with a chocolaty face playing with one of Sydney's gifts. Just like his Daddy...
Mike was very pleased with himself :) Love you babe!

Miss Sydney with her Grandpa Sidney
And Kurt's table is finally set up in his room, he thinks it is great and plays with it all the time!
