We had a great 4th of July week. My parents have had property in Manilla for several years and they finally built a great modular home on the property this last Thanksgiving. This is the first summer we have been able to stay there and we were so excited and happy to do it. We left on Weds. and picked up Eric along the way from Roosevelt and then headed up to Flaming Gorge for fishing, swimming and fun!! Our first day Eric got up early and went fishing on my Aunt Marilyn's boat and had a great time. He caught 4 rainbow trouts and 2 bass fish. He was in heaven!! I am so glad that he came up and was able to spend time with us, plus get in some good fishing time.
Eric's big rainbow trout.
We went on a hike around my parents property later that day when Eric got back from fishing. It was raining and we got wet and MUDDY!! But, we still had fun, the kids could have cared less if they got wet.
Eric took Heidi and Amy out for fishing later that night, once it stopped raining. Here is Heidi's BIG catch. They love to go fishing with their dad. That is all they talked about doing on the way up. Each of the girls has a Barbie fishing pole and they do really well with them.
The next morning was beautiful!! No clouds or rain, YEAH!! Eric took the kids on another walk around the property and they started to throw rocks ff the ravine that is by my parents house. This is a cute picture of Alex after he threw the rock. He thought it was so cool that he clapped every time. Love it!!
Here are the kids with their rocks. Alex would not stop throwing them for pictures.
Later on we went to the lake for the day and had a great time. Perfect temperature and not too many people at first. They came later. But, the only problem was the water was COLD!! The kids still went in and splashed around a bit . This is Heidi and Kelly testing the waters.
We have a blow up raft boat that we took out with the girls. Eric and I both had turns, this is Eric with the girls. Isn't it beautiful there? Kelly was so funny, when we first got there she kept saying something that it took me awhile to understand. Finally I figured it out, she wanted to play in the sparkles!! The water looked like it had sparkles on them from the sun reflecting the water. So funny.
Amy ready for the water!
Having fun on the beach.
The next day was Saturday and nice again. The girls wanted to go fishing again with Eric, so he took them up to a pretty lake in the mountains above Manilla called Brownie Lake. I didn't go with them because of Alex and Kelly. They needed a nap and so did I!! Here they are having a great time fishing. My brother Kenny and his son, Jonny went up with them. So did my sister Merideth. Unfortunately, my sister in law, Lena and my other two nephews were sick and didn't make it up to Manilla with us, and we missed them!! Later that night we BBQ'd the fish that everyone caught and it was tasty. What I thought was to funny is that no one brought up any fireworks. Especially since we went through Wyoming on the way up. So, our 4th of July was really quiet. Even Manilla and the surrounding towns didn't have fireworks. Oh well. There is always next year.
