RACE REPORT : STANDARD CHARTERED MARATHON SINGAPORE 2014

Okay. Mood rajin dah datang. Mari membuat race report tentang Acara Marathon yang disertai hujung minggu lalu di Singapore. Maka terimalah race report :- STANDARD CHARTERED MARATHON SINGAPORE 2014

7 DECEMBER 2014

Malam sebelum Race ni agak gila. berjalan sampai jam 11pm ke Orchard Road.. Balik semula ke Green Kiwi Backpackers Hostel dah 11.30 pm.. baru lah masa ni nak bersiap baju apa nak pakai masa race. nak siapkan air dan sebagainya. Sepatutnya malam sebelum race kena rest yang cukup. Tapi entah lah. kali ni rasa macam rugi kalau tak berjalan habis habisan.. Runcation lah katakan..Belasah saja lah. Aku cuba nak lelapkan mata jam 12am tapi takleh nak tidor.. dalam jam 1am jugak baru lelap. agak gila sebab kitorang kena bangun jam 3am! maknanya tidor 2 jam saja.

Dalam jam 3am aku terjaga. tengok Gme dan Man masih nyenyak tidor. so aku sambung tidor balik. jam 3.30am Gme datang kejut aku.

Orang dah ramai membanjiri kawasan. semua peserta marathon lah ni. 14000 katanya peserta Marathon. Sangat Ramai. Sistem MRT kat Singapore ni sangat ringkas dan mudah difahami. so jangan bimbang lah nak sesat. susah nak sesat. Kami kena tukar tren menuju ke City Hall. Berhenti di Orchard Road punya stesen.

Bergambar dulu sementara menanti Train Tiba

Gme ambik first wave. Tengok kaler Bib dia pun kaler biru. Cutoff time untuk SCMS ni ialah 8 jam. woww. thats a lot of time. so boleh leisure run lah jawabnya ni. Nice to meet you Papa Jeeda! Kerja kat JB so takder masalah lah datang singapore. In fact dia ni selalu jer join event marathon di Singapore.

Flag off time jam 5am sepatutnya. Tapi sebab batch by batch kitorang bertolak dalam jam 5.20 am. Nak start mula mula ni memang kena berjalan saja lah. Orang terlalu ramai.. so kami melepasi garisan permulaan tu starting time 5.20am. Go Team Harimau Malaya you guys can do it!!

Gme dah bertolak awal. so tinggal lah kami berlima yang meneruskan perlarian sama-sama.. Seronoknya dapat lari dengan Khidir. Dia bawak Gopro sekali dengan magic sticknya tu. So memang sakan lah bergambar. Bukan setakat bergambar, gila-gila semuanya. duk kacau orang dan buat bising. haha. Nice to run with you guys!! at least tak lah penat sangat tersa.

Tapi Solat tu perintah Allah. (self reminder)

Then kami sambung berlari lagi.. Cikgu Khidir ni memang peramah orangnya.. habis volunteer bertugas dia tegur. Bekerjasama pulak dengan Bha memang perfect combination lah.. tak lah bosan sangat berlari ada diorang.. ni first time berlari dengan Khidir dan Man..aritu masa jumpa di Penang Bridge Marathon sempat lari sama sama sekejap jer.. last last aku tertinggal jauh di belakang. Mizan arini jadi slow runner pula. Biasa dia mesti dah jauh ke depan. Dia tak berapa sihat so dia kata mala snak push. Good. tak perlu lah paksa badan kan.. Marathon event akan sentiasa ada. Badan kita cuma satu nak pakai lama.

Menarik gambar dari belakang ni

Macam-macam aksi dirakamkan..

Thanks Khidir for the nice shot..Masa ni pace masing masing maintain.. sama sama lagi dapat berlari.. sampai waktu nak masuk ke ECP, Mizan dah laju ter ke depan. so aku decide nak ikut pace Mizan.. kalau dia berhenti aku berhenti.. dia laju aku follow.. Somehow at the end, you have to follow your own pace jugak.. tapi kali ni saja buat Mizan jadi benchmark kononnya.

Sampai KM20, Di water Station aku dan Mizan jumpa Gme. apparently lambat pula Gme hari ni. Ye lah.. last week baru buat Marathon di Fujisan jepun. Minggu ni pula dah di Singapore pula. Marathon back to back to back.. setiap minggu ada event. So kami decide nak gerak sama-sama 3 orang.. Ada geng baru best bersembang sembang..Thanks Tan Kim Lai for this Photo.

Apa lagi bergambar lah dulu.. kot kot nanti tak jumpa dah.. Cuaca pun dah terang benderang masa ni.. Bahang kepanasan mula terasa.

yeahhh kami Team Malaysia!!

Boost our energy. Tunggu punya tunggu diorang tak sampai sampai so kitorang jalan lah dulu..

Gambar terakhir bersama Mizan sebelum dia terus meninggalkan aku dan Gme di belakang.. takper. ko pergi lah dulu.. make your own pace ya. aku memang nak stay lari ngan Gme jer..jalan laju. then lari. then jalan laju lagi. Menyanyi nyanyi. karaoke sendiri. Hiburkan hati.

So korang boleh bayangkan lah panas macam mana waktu ni.. terang benderang dan matahari memancar dengan teriknya..memang heat training sangat.. kena tempuh jua lah walau panas membara sekalipun..Gambar atas ni Gme yang ambik.. Nice shot!

Sebelum nak sampai KM30 bertemu pula syafwan.. I think all the running events should provide this marker board size. Baru best!

Flat jer..

Kata-kata di Mark Board KM32 ni best - ' You did not sign up for this to walk. RUN!!'. Macam tau tau jer. sebab memang most of participants yang lalu area ni semuanya berjalan kaki dah.. ada laju ada slow. tapi takder rasanya yang berlari..Tak apa lah.. janji semua target nak sampai ke garisan penamat saja. Dapat kata-kata macam ni at least jadi penyuntik semangat sekejap.

Sebab tengok masa macam tak sempat aku nak catch flight jam 2.45pm nanti..nak balik Hostel lagi nak checkout lagi nak naik MRT lagi ke Airport.. takut rush sangat.. so aku start lari sikit-sikit..Tinggalkan Gme. Gambar ni ehsan Khidir.. Gme jumpa diorang masa KM34 then terus lari sama-sama..Lari or jalan?. entah. hehehe..

Tengok gambar ni rasa rugi sangat takleh lari ngan diorang.. So aku jawab we want both! lari jugak. Gambar ambik lah jugak. Aku tak suka makan energy gel. so memang kembung perut minum 100 plus je lah.. dengan Cuaca panas terik rasa nak cepat-cepat habis saja.. lari sikit.. jalan laju-laju..

And finally aku sampai di garisan penamat depan City Hall Singapore.. catatan masa better sikit dari PBIM 6 Hours 50 minutes. I take it. biar lah teruk pun. always ada another event. yang penting having fun setiap event. itu yang paling penting.

Mizan dah sampai awal lagi.. dah balik dah pun.. dia lagi lah. nak kena check out jam 11am.

Yes i am!! Finished the Standard Chartered Marathon 2014 Singapore!! Standard Chartered KL tak pergi aritu. so abiskan yang Singapore punya je lah..Alhamdulillah dapat habiskan tanpa kecederaan kaki. Boleh berjalan dengan baik lagi.

Tukar Finisher Tee dan Finisher Medal. Mintak tolong akak Filipina ambik gambar ni. akak tu siap minta emel aku lagi dia nak emelkan gambar yang kami ambik berempat.. tengok lah camana nanti. sampai sekarang takder pun dia emel gambar. hehe..

This is the Finisher Medal

And this is the Finisher Tee. terus tukar nak ambik gambar punya pasal.. dari finishing line aku jalan kaki ke MRT City Hall nak balik semula ke stesen Bugis..Jumpa Syafwan dan dia lah yang ambik gambar ni. Tq Bro! see u in FB nanti..Mujur lah kaki ok boleh laju laju jalan lagi.. so straight balik ke Hostel, Mandi kemas barang dan Check Out..Masa nak keluar dari Hostel terserempak dengan Gme dan Man. Diorang baru sampai.. diorang pun nak kejar bas jam 2pm tu..semua sempat Alhamdulillah.. aku pula ke airport memang ngam-ngam saja masa..last call katanya. Mujur sempat masuk dan terus boarding jer.. Flight jam 2.45. sampai airport jam 2.15pm.. memang kalau aku lewat lagi 5 minit kena tinggal dah. Kuasa Allah.

Maka berakhirlah kisah race report SCMS 2014.

Ok dah.

Tunggu Event Marathon lain pulak ya.

Stay Tune with AXIMUD!

RACE REPORT : 2XU COMPRESSION RUN SINGAPORE FULL MARATHON 42KM

Some of the pics at 2XU compression Singapore run last weekend.

To sum it up, I had a great time completing my #8th marathon event.

Organiser also did a good job by providing sufficient water station and medical support. Pocari sweat is awesome! Couldn't get enough of it! The route almost flat, suppose to do my PB here but lost momentum at km18 (due to long pause after subuh prayer, toilet etc). Clocked 5 hours at km38. Finished the race within cutoff time. Most importantly free injury and with minimal blisters.

Met Suriyati Amin and Michele Wong (both of them helped me a lot in TNF 100 Thailand last month, sorry guys didn't got any chance to meet at finishing line.). Thank you Faiez Buer Aizat Yanan Mohd Azmi Taufik Ali Alphalipid for great company at the event.

See you guys again in another race, insya Allah!

2XU COMPRESSION RUN SINGAPORE : FULL MARATHON 42KM VERSION!

Race report?

hmmmmm..

Malas maaa..

Manage to captured this sunrise photo at KM26 while we passed through the East Coast Park. It looks more dramatic when there's a plane flying across the sea.

Subhanallah!

*Sedang mencari mood rajin untuk buat race report!

RACE REPORT : YOMA YANGON INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 42 KM

Yoma Yangon Longyi run 42km

19 January 2014, 3am in the morning.

Received wake up call from the hotel reception (May Flower Inn) as I told them earlier to do so. Don't want to be late in this marathon event. I've never been to Myanmar before, so basically this is the greatest way to do something that I love the most in one go : travel & marathon. Time was limited but I enjoyed every bit of it!...

So here's the race report for this event.

Yoma yangon international marathon took place at Thuwana stadium. Flag off time for 42km at 5am. There's also another category - 21km and fun run. At starting point, for 42 km category more or less only 300 participants. Hopefully I won't be the last person to arrived at the finishing line later. I did set my target - sub 5. Never achieved this before, maybe this could be a good start for 2014.

5 am. And the race begin.

I just maintained my pace around 6.00 or 6.15 minutes per km for the first 21 km. long way to go, don't want to felt exhausted earlier than I should be. The road was not in a good condition though. Holes here and there, and the runner had to watch their steps. I'm quite surprised with the cheering support from the local people! They keep clapping and shouting to boost our spirit and guess what? It works for me! They're so supportive and that's another reason why I can clocked my first 21km at 2 hours 7 minutes.

Most of the route at suburbs area. Passed by through a few universities and city area. The villagers was so nice! They provide water and food for the runners. The water station itself was sufficient. Medical support too. No complaints about that. The traffic control also terrific from the police on duty. Great effort. I still remember the feeling when I ran beside the inya lake. So calm and peaceful.

At km 30.

Bumped with
Faiez Buer . He looks like struggling with the cramped. And we clocked 3 hours 28 minutes at this particular distance. With balance 12 km, it is so possible to achieve sub 5 considering we had 1 hour 30 minutes left for us to complete the marathon. So I start to dream, and put my hopes up high for it to comes true. PB in myanmar. How nice was that?

At km 34.

Walking. And run. Slowing down. And walk again. And mingle with other runners as well. I stopped to talk to them for a few minutes, figuring it would provide the psychological boost I needed to make it to the finish line. But when I started running again, I knew from the first stride that I had made a mistake in stopping for so long. My muscles had frozen, and every step was excruciating in a way that I hadn’t felt up to that point.

But I have to keep running!

This agonising condition never eased, and in fact quite horrible all the way to finish line, making the last 10 kilometres an extremely uncomfortable experience. With the dusty road and the weather is amazingly hot, I knew I won't be able to finish the race below 5 hours. And the dreams just fade away at km 39, where I clocked 4 hours 57 minutes.

The last 3 km is the hardest one for me. Finally it comes to an end. Can't wait to end this, Unofficially clocked 5 hours 34 minutes at the finishing line. And I'm so happy to earned the finisher medal and finisher tee. Worth the pain. Not my personal best but still, better than my last marathon in PBIM2013. The real satisfaction for me not about the timing (as I know I'm not quite a fast runner), but when I can said that 'I have finished this!' - thats, the real satisfaction for me! Alhamdulillah!

Congratulations to my other fellow friends that joined the marathon together.
Shaiful Zakaria you did a great job! Sub 4! Syed Jay - sub 5! Faiez and I - sub 6. At least none of us become the last person to arrived. Good job you guys! It always felt good to see runners from the same country.

Overall, the event was successfully organised. Probably better than last year. I know the organisers already make a lot of money for this event but hey, I look at this situation as a win-win situation. I can travel to Myanmar and doing a marathon at the same time. And one thing for sure - I love the way orang kampung there become so supportive and friendly.

Ok. Done with the race report. See you guys again next year. Maybe I should come again and renew my timing.

Insya Allah.

*Oh, did I mentioned that I run with longyi? Yes. It's myanmar style. Locals Kain sarong. And all the way 42km with this longyi such a totally new experience for me.

RACE REPORT : PENANG BRIDGE INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 2013 FULL MARATHON 42KM

My Penang Bridge International Marathon 2013 race report.

We stayed at B-suite hotel bayan baru. Not quite far from queensbay mall where the race begin. At 1am 17 November 2013 (after kak tie's small birthday celebration), we went to the starting point and caught up in a massive traffic jammed due to the most of main road already closed for the event purpose. Lucky that we still got a parking spot at the qb mall basement parking and after that we quickly get to the starting point. Don't want to be late and not enough stretching before the race begin. Azuan and kak tie in the half marathon category, che'burn and I- full marathon category.

At starting point, I met Noor Izwah Mahdar, Sam Mahdar , Faiez Buer , Aizat Ahmad , azmi, and a few other runners. We took photo together 5 minutes before the full marathon flag off at 2am, and wish each others good luck! By the way, che' burn doing his first full marathon. There you go che' burn!

And the race begin.

I tell myself not to speed up for the entire 42km. just want to Maintain my pace around 6.30 min/km and try my best to be comfort with this pace. Long way to go. Because speed is all about consistency. At the first 5km met Shah Shazharn and louis. Entering the penang bridge, quite windy and the drizzly rain makes me cold. Up till 24km, I still maintain the same pace and at this time I clocked 2 hours 24 minutes. And I know I'm in the middle of pacer 4.30 and 5.00. All along, keep competing with Ford frodo, zarul Azuan , and Khamrul Rasyid . Most of the time they were ahead of me.

At km 25, suddenly I stop running. Stretched my right leg. A bit pain. And that's when the mental block occurred. I continued run, but getting slower. As the pacer 5.00 pass me by, I knew that I'm not gonna be able to catch them up. I've tried. But eventually the 5.00 pacer balloon disappear. I didn't try hard enough to fight the voice within me that told me to stop. My other mistake when I load myself with vsoy milk at water station. It cause my stomach start to growl.. but I keep holding on.

Bumped with faiez at km25.

He experienced pain at his knee due to activities before the race. I just hope he gonna be just fine and still able to finish the race. Thanks for captured my photo anyway in the middle of the penang bridge. Sometimes when you too focus to something that you do you forgot to have fun with things that you do. So from km 26 onwards I keep telling myself not to take this too hard. And that's when my I initial target from 'i want to finish the race below 5 hours' changed to 'I just want to finish this race within cutoff time, and without injury!'.it's funny how my mind always keep bargaining with a matter like this.

At Km 27.

My pace from 6.30min/km drop to 7.45min/km. I run. And stop. Run. And stop. After a long pause (just walk for almost 1km) Suddenly, there's an 'angel' came and grab my hand. He told me to keep running and never give up. At least try to finish up till km30. With that, sobri and I start to run together. No need to go fast, but have to keep running with a slow pace. There you go. In a time like this, I really need a moral support to cheer me up. To lift me up. Sob just become the perfect person at this time to give me that. Thank you so much sob!

We keep running until km 33. The water station was quite good enough I presumed. Maybe lack of 100 plus but it's ok. And Because the route is u-turn basis, we can simply recognised a few of runners from the other side. Fast runners sub 4.30 - Faisal, Rashid Rmr , Shaiful Zakaria, Midy Saleh , shamroslee, Mohd Mustafa , Aizulartamir Azman (just name a few).good job you guys!. Met kasturie as well. He become a pacer for his friend. And he gave me a words - I look so fat after get married! Haha. Couldn't agree more. I will try to lose some weight after this. Noted!

While sob and I want to make u-turn at km33 after fed ourself with banana, we bumped with Romzy Liu II and quite surprised why he was so slow. Apparently he lost his contact lense and had a problem with knee. He then decided to joined us and we ran together. Having chit chat and sobri sing a song (loud and clear) makes me forget about the foot pain. At km38, we stop by at nearest shell station to perform subuh prayer because it's already 6.30am. Almost 30 minutes we spent our time here. Not to mentioned, In front of the shell station there's a pasukan bomba dan penyelamat with tbeir big pipe hose and mist the atmosphere - just like a cooling zone for all runners.

Another 4 km left before the race is over.

Romzy and Sobri keep pushing me to go slow and try to catch up with their pace. Thanks romzy for some running tips and for the energy gel as well. Mango flavour and It was tasty, considering I never try to consume energy gel in the previous race events. and for the last 2 km, both of them struggle to finish the race before we clocked 6 hours for FM. And here I am, on my own again and keep moving.

The crowd before the finishing line was so overwhelming. For the last 1 km, I run and run and run slowly, and of course I didn't forget to put a big smile on my face even though both of my feet is hurt. The pain is temporary but the pride is forever! So I gave my best shot in front of any camera ahead. I learned my lesson - you don't want to look ugly at the finishing line.

As I ran on the red carpet, I knew it's already over. The race is over. And I clocked 6 hours 4 minutes. Sobri and romzy did their sub 6 hours with 5.59. Thanks again to both of you!! It's true when they said the miracle is not when I can finally finished the race, but when I had the courage to start. This is not as easy as it may seem. 42.195 km is not easy. Nobody told me this was easy. But I know it's gonna worth it. To finish my 5th FM (so far) is quite good enough for me. Another finisher medal and finisher tee collected.

Congratulations azim ashaary! I'm proud with myself.
Congratulations che' burn on your first FM.(he even got better timing than me)
Congratulations Faiez to finish the entire 42.195 km despite of his injury, 5 minutes away before they pulled off the red carpet.(cutoff time - 7 hours)
Congratulations to all full marathon runners, you guys inspired others!
Congratulations kak tie for your PB in this half marathon.
Congratulations dr.shah, for keep trying to finish the race but DNF at km21.(the effort that matter)

And most of all, congratulations to all runners whether you did 10km, 21, or 42 km. Keep running and never give up! It's good to met again with familiar faces at finishing line. And as usual, photo session would not be missed by any chance!

See you guys again in Penang Bridge International Marathon 2014 tentatively at 16 November 2014.

Insya Allah on the brand new Penang Bridge
