Week 14 (8/29-8/31): Ether 15-Moroni 10

Week 14 Reading Assignment: Ether 15-Moroni 10

Daily assignments:
8/29: Ether 15, Moroni 1-6
8/30: Moroni 7, 8
8/31: Moroni 9, 10

Suggested study technique: "Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."

Week 13 (8/22-8/28): Mormon 5- Ether 14

Week 13 Reading Assignment: Mormon 5- Ether 14

Daily assignments:
8/22: Mormon 5-8

8/25: Ether 4-7
8/26: Ether 8, 9
8/27: Ether 10-12
8/28: Ether 13, 14

Suggested study technique: We've talked a lot about establishing a routine, which is definitely important. But don't be too tied to a routine that if anything changes about it, you aren't able to still fit scripture study into your day. Have a backup plan for when you'll read if you aren't able to use your regular routine (e.g. if you usually read over breakfast, but breakfast is skipped one morning, you could have a backup plan to read during lunch).

Margaret recommends a "reader's edition" edited by Grant Hardy, in which the layout is in paragraph form. Saralynn further advocates the online version or the online version copied to a word processing document.

If you study in the evening before bed you could place your materials on your pillow.

Week 9 (7/25-7/31): Alma 44-58

Week 9 Reading Assignment: Alma 44-58

Daily assignments:
7/25: Alma 44, 46
7/26: Alma 47, 48

Suggested study technique: One sister in our group wrote, "I have been reading a missionary copy and marking it up with the lens of 'How can I be a better parent?' It's amazing how many ideas and stories relate to parenting." Apply your own lens to your daily readings, and see what pops out at you that you would normally pass over.

If you are struggling with the war sections of the Book of Mormon, this article may provide an interesting perspective.

Week 8 (7/18-7/24): Alma 28-43

Week 8 Reading Assignment: Alma 28-43

Daily assignments:
7/18: Alma 28-30
7/19: Alma 31, 32
7/20: Alma 33, 34
7/21: Alma 35-37
7/22: Alma 38, 39
7/23: Alma 40-42
7/24: Alma 43

Suggested study technique: As you study, ask yourself what specific principle can be learned from passages you are reading.

"Achieving scriptural guidance is aided by posing pertinent questions. 24 You might ask, “What principle can be learned from these teachings of the Lord?” For example, scriptures teach that the Creation was accomplished in six periods of time. Principles learned from that study show that any great attainment requires proper planning, timing, patience, labor, and no shortcuts."
