Camp Shower
We are getting ready for a camping trip with the family. I am concerned there are not any showers where we are going, so I am bringing along my own shower. As you can see I am multi-tasking – trying out the shower and talking to Ryan. Today is Sunday, our van is surprising full and we just started packing.

11 year old Scout Camp
On May 29-30, 2009 was the La Crescenta Stake's 11 year old Scout Camp. This is Alan and I looking very matchy, matchy. Alan help set up the camp on Friday. There were three stakes involved La Crescenta, North Hollywood and Pasadena. My troop of 11 year old boys provided me with much laughter. Watching them cook hot dogs made my day. I thought they were cooking Mexican jumping beans. One of the boys could not keep his hot dog in the fry pan. He keep picking it up from the ground and throwing it back into the fry pan. The fry pan had high sides. Good thing there is a 10 second rule for dropped food. The Scout leader brought cop sticks for the boys to eat breakfast with. He did not want to spend money on plastic utensils. One of the boys could not use them and had to be taught before he starved to death.

Linda's New Toy
Alan bought Linda the Wii and the Wii Fit. Doing the Wii Fit has been interesting. It has said nasty things about my weight, which is true. The program sends me messages -- like I am a “Couch Potato” when I can not do some of the strength exercise. When it tests my agility it sometimes tells me my agility level is age “75”. The little Wii people make faces at me when I do something wrong. Sometimes the Wii people cheer for me.
I tried to have Alan do some of the weight in and agility test, which I wish I had a video of – we could have made a mint on that video. Monday when I was exercising the message appeared on the Wii Fit: “How is Alan’s posture?” It gave me a multiple choice question. After my answer of “Not Good” the Wii suggested if Alan was my friend I would talk to him about improving his posture.
Am I losing my mind, I am now conversing with the Wii. What happen to real people?
I really suck at skiing and snow boarding, but I keep trying. Seeing me do the hula hoop would make good “Funniest Home Video”. I don’t know if I will ever master all the exercise, but I am trying. I love technology.

Easter Dresses
April 5, 2009
As Easter approaches, I must stop and remember Ben and Sally – Rebecca’s real parents. I can remember my mother buying me a new Easter dress every year. As my girls were born I also had to buy my girls an Easter dress every year. One year Rebecca really wanted white gloves to go with her Easter dress. I told her no. That is the year that she told all about her real mom and dad, Ben and Sally. Rebecca informed me that Sally would have made her gloves for Easter. She did not get gloves for Easter that year. These are a sample of some of the Easter dress through the years.

Linda Registered Scout
Noah the Littlest Borrower
Noah the Littlest Borrower
March 24, 2009
Noah likes to take things home with him when he leaves Grandma’s. Usually it is a ball, bat or toy. Monday he picked a strange item that he wanted to take home. He insisted on taking home one of my romance novels and a ink pen. I don’t know if he was going to make notes as he read my book. Can two year old read? He held on to these items for dear like. It was a good thing that I had read the book and it was not one of my favorites. The pen had run out of ink, so it was not a big lose either. If he takes enough of my junk home, I will not need to clean out my house – but Rachel will have to trash some items.
For the other borrowers in my life, just letting you know I have the movies Twilight and Australia. It has surprised me, for the past few months, that I could find all my tools when I went to do several projects. My big borrowers must be on vacation. Something that I need must be missing and the borrowers have it at their homes. I miss my borrowers.

Helping Cut out Cars for the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby
Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Preparation
Mar 21, 2009
Our Cub Scouts are getting ready for their Pinewood Derby. Alan Taylor, Lee Knight and Eric Pehrson brought their electric saws to Scouts on March 4, 2009 to help cut out the pine cars. Notice the difference in electric saws. Some how Alan’s seems a little small compared to the other electric saws. Alan has helped the Cub Scouts with the Pinewood Derby for years. He has been the chief wood cutter for many years. Last year Alan and Kay Frost were in charge of cutting the wood of the pine cars.

Linda's New Scout Uniform
My New Scout Uniform
February 27, 2009
“You should never say never.” I said I would never buy a Scout Uniform – well I am eating those words. Look at Linda in you Scout shirt. I have not bought the pants yet. One of the rules for wearing the Scout uniform is you must tuck in you shirt tail. I don’t tuck shirt tails, we are going to have a problem with that rule. I miss shopping in Macys the BSA store does not do it for me.

Solvang Escape
Solvang, CA
Jan 2009
Alan and I ran away to Solvang, CA for a day. Solvang is a little Scandinavian town in the Santa Ynez Valley. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Solvang. Our room had a balcony that we could view the valley from.
As we drove around the area we drove to Los Olivos, CA. The town is decorated in a western and wine theme. The Santa Ynez Valley is known for their wineries.
One the way to Los Olivos is a horse ranch that raises miniature horses. As you drive by you can see the small horses running in the fields.

There was also a lavender farm that we stopped at. Alan bought lavender honey (which he hates the taste – too strong) and I bought some lavender pillow spay (which I love).

Part of any vacation is buying souvenirs. We bought small wooden shoes that will go on our magnet board.

The other souvenirs we bought were not from the cute shops we went into but the local hardware store in Solvang. A very large red wooden bowl that was on the sales table.

A soap dish for our shower.

Alan Christmas Party Dec 2008
Alan’s Christmas Work Party Dec 2008
The Taylor Family made the yearly trek to the Los Angeles Depart of Water and Power JFB for the DWP Christmas party. One of the questions that goes through my mind when we go to the Christmas party, is what color is Santa this year? This year Santa was white.
Riley started crying as we stood in the long line, she did not want to sit on Santa’s lap. As you see by our pictures, Riley is not near Santa and would not be in the picture without her mother.

The grandchildren like going to Alan’s office to see how junky it is and if there is any candy. They found candy and fell upon it like locus. Monday morning when Alan went to work he called to tell me there were little bits of chocolate all over his desk. He loved knowing the kids had enjoyed themselves.
Alan had a little problem with getting dress for the Christmas party. The burgundy shirt and red tie clash.
