She is ONE!

Our beautiful Abby is 1!  At her 1 year appointment her stats were 24 pounds 11.5 oz (92%) and 30 inches (76%) and her head was 67% - don't remember the measurement.  The weather in Michigan this time of the year is like a bad game of pinball.  Sadly all the decent days keep falling during the week and the crappy, rainy, cold days are on the weekends.

We hadn't been able to get Abby's 1 year pictures taken so I ended up taking a long lunch hour last week to take some myself with my mom and Abby at the park next to our house.

Here are some of my favorites!!  (I also learned that Abby doesn't like balloons blowing in the wind.)

Next time Momma needs to remember to bring snacks!  DUH!!  This was the last photo of our time outside. :) lol

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

SUMMER FLASHBACK: First Road Trip!

In June of this year we made our first family road trip to central Indiana!  We originally went so Nathan could reconnect with some family.  Sadly that reunion did not go as planned.  Thankfully, we did have a nice time at the hotel and the drive itself wasn't so bad.  We were on the road around nap time on Friday.  It was a 4 hour trip and the kids did pretty well.  We had a bit of a meltdown with Abby for a spell, but it ended up alright.

Logan packed his own bag for the trip.  It is a great thing I packed clothes for him as well.  What was Logan's suitcase?  Shoes. Only shoes. Yup... that was a great packing job buddy boy.

They were so cuddly together. :)

After an in room pizza dinner we tried out the pool.  Abby didn't like it at first, but I think Daddy maybe moved her through it a little fast.  She wasn't a huge fan of that.  But Momma was a little slower and Daddy was able to play with her fast moving brother.  She really seemed to enjoy it after that.  Logan's favorite part was the hot tub!

After we left the hotel on Saturday during nap time we headed from Indianapolis area to Fort Wayne.  My amazing cousin Raelynn and her family.  Her son Dane is 1 month younger than Logan.  (She and I had a shared baby shower for our family back when we were pregnant - it was great!)  She also has another son, Vaughn who is 2.  We always have such a great time visiting with them.  Her husband, Mike is an awesome man.  He and Nathan get on really well.

Look at those sweet boys in the tiny pool.  They are so cute!  One of my favorite family photos.  We attempted to get a picture of the 4 children together, but well, that was not easy.  Two three year old boys (at the time), a 2 year old and an 8 month old.  "A" for effort!

After the kids were in bed we broke out many many bottles of wine.  I'm not huge on wine, but would love to be so we had a sort of wine tasting.  I discovered that wine makes me super giggly.  And eventually Rae and I busted out the Doritos and ketchup.  This was a childhood favorite that Rae got me hooked on.  I still love it!

What a wonderful weekend!

SUMMER FLASHBACK: Logan's First Trip to the Dentist

First point: I detest the dentist.

Second point: I didn't really think about taking Logan to the dentist.  I apparently missed that motherhood memo.

Third point: I wasn't going to take Logan as I didn't want my anti-dentist bad mojo to rub off on him.

Fourth point: Nathan couldn't take him so I ended up taking him.

Fifth point: Logan did AWESOME!  He let them do every single part of the cleaning (minus the floride treatment as the hygentist thought he was swollowing too much.)  The hygentist was the sweetest girl and she was able to get all the "sugar bugs" as she called them from his teeth.  Here are some pictures from Logan's adventure at the dentist.  His next appt is at the end of November.  Should go well again!

SUMMER FLASHBACK: Full Body Painting!

Who doesn't love some good 'ol body painting?  I don't know anyone!  I don't remember why this seemed like such a good idea, but at the time it sure did.  Thankfully the weather was nice and warm and I taped a bunch of paper to the deck, threw some paint on some paints, stripped Logan down to his underwear and off he went!

Needless to say he had a great time.  And really - what 3 year old (this was before his birthday) wouldn't love a mess they are allowed to create?

And of course - little sister was on hand to watch. :)  I so enjoy these random fun things that allow a kid to be a kid!  Plus - what is a little mess?  Nathan held him at arms length and tossed him in the tub.

Happy Birthday Abby!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY ABBY!!

Our sweet Abigail Rae turned 1 yesterday.  It is hard to believe a whole year has passes since we walked into the hospital for my c-section.  Nathan and I were talking last night in the quiet after the kids were asleep.  Seems like much longer ago that we were in the operating room waiting for her to come out.  She is an added light to our lives.  She brings us so much joy.

She is toddling all over the place these days.  More steps every single day.  She is babbling up a storm and says, "Uh-Oh" (Uh-Uh), "Mama," "Dada,"  and "Hi."  She and her brother have such a sweet relationship.  Logan dotes on her and she the same to him.  No one can make her light up like Logan.  It is amazing.  Logan mimics us so often when he talks to her, "Come here baby girl, walk to Logan.  That's a girl!"  She will toddle over to him and throw herself in his arms and they will roll around "wrestling" on the floor.  She laughs the whole time and he will do just about anything silly to make her laugh and smile.  I love watching their sibling bond grow.  I pray it is the same way 10 years from now!  (But I do have video evidence of their love for each other that I plan on showing them when they are at each other's throats.)  :-)

You are feisty... stubborn... and you let us know when you are  not pleased.  When you are done eating you throw everything on the floor in 2.3 seconds (having a carpeted dining room SUCKS! and will hopefully be changing soon!)  You still liked to be rocked to sleep and still like to wake up a bit during the night.

You favorite foods are pancakes, muffins, sausage, hotdogs, juice, the baby food in the pouches with the little straws, string cheese, yogurt and applesauce.

Wednesday morning Grandma and I took Abby out to breakfast.  She seemed to enjoy  herself (and her pancakes, jello, milk, and sausage.)  Not to mention shouting and waving at people at nearby tables.

Last night after dinner we celebrated with a little cake.  Nathan wanted a little practice run for her party on Saturday.  Given the cake on the floor and china cabinet, Sister did not disappoint!!

She of course went straight to bath from there.  She had cake in her hair and all that.  (The tub was flat out nasty when we were done.)

Look at that happy messy face!

Happy Birthday Abby-Cakers!  You are a blessing... such an amazing blessing.  I can't wait to see you grow and continue becoming your own little person.

Love you,
Momma

p.s.  NEVER HAVE TO BUY FORMULA AGAIN! YIPEE!!!!  hehe

p.s.s. I plan to do a series of summer flash-backs!

Just a Swingin'

The weather has been a bit up and down - hot and cool.  The other night the weather was GREAT!  We ate dinner on the deck and then Logan decided he wanted to play in the backyard rather than go for a walk.  Sounds good to me!  Abby was loving her swing so I ran in to grab the camera.

Chasing each other is one of the favored activities Logan does with Nathan.

 Happy BOY!

Happy GIRL!

Look at that cute little feet.  Love these little toes.

So serious... love her eyes.

Logan's hair was starting to show a little curl while his winter hair cut was growing out.  He has since gotten his summer cut.  He loved that his "head was not so hot."

My Angel Girl and I.  She is looking so much like me when I was a baby.  It is pretty great.  I'm going to have to grab some of my baby pictures and do some side by side comparisons.

Daddy and Abby

Time for them all to go down the slide!

Logan insisted on taking Abby down "all by myself" - she didn't seem to know what to think of the whole thing, but she survived so that is good! ha!

I think tonight may be another great night for backyard dinner and play.  Times like these where it makes me so happy to be their Momma!
