Stampers Anonymous Flower Garden Cards

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

Today I'm sharing a couple of Sympathy cards I made using Stampers Anonymous, Tim Holtz Collection, Flower Garden stamps.  These have lots of fall colors browns, ambers, golds and greens I love these colors and I think they make a soothing color combo for this type of card.

This first card is made using a crackle background (from JustRite Stampers) atop a piece of watercolor paper which I had colored  with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Fossilized Amber.  Today's cards are A5 size - 5"x7", a little larger than I normally make but perfect sized for the flowers with longer stems.  These stamps come with the flower heads and stems separate so you can mix and match as you see fit.  (JustRite is not available any more but I did find a Tim Holtz Stamp called Cracks and Specks that's really very very close to what I used, and you get two stamps in this set, what a deal!)

Quite some time ago I treated myself to a set of Caran D'Ache Neo Color II crayons.  These are a water soluble crayons so when used with an Aqua brush the colors blend beautifully.  It was fun, but it's always fun to try new crafty supplies.  I used a Penny Black stamp set called Eloquence for my sentiments and cut them out with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Thirty-Three.

This time I included a second generation stamp on the back of my cards as well as adding the flowers to my envelopes.  These stamps come out so crisp and clear when used with Spellbinders Celebra'tions Berry Black ink, no smears, no smudges.

Come join me on the video and we'll make a card together plus I'll show you how I did the masking on the one card.  This effect gives the illusion that the one flower is sitting behind the other, a really fun technique to use.

Graphic 45 Botanicabella Tag Mini

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

Today I'm sharing a new mini created with Graphic 45's Botanicabella Collection and their Black Tag Album.  I used one of Sa Crafters arrows across the front and added a flower cut from the decorative paper using Heartfelt Creations Blazing Poppy die.

I used an old sheet that I'd been saving for the binding.  I sprayed the sheet with Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Ground Espresso, Abandoned Coral and Fossilized Amber.  The dyed and dried sheet was torn to a one inch strip and woven through the binding hole and then knotted securely.  I then tore the tails into thin strips which causes the great fraying and distress look.  The charms were gifted to me from my friend Julie.  They were a plain silver but I used Alcohol inks to co-ordinate with the colors of the mini.  Worked great.

There are eight double sided spreads and each page has the same tag cut from Spellbinders Celebra'tions Cuddle Cream paper using Spellbinders Labels Thirty-six and inking the edges with Ground Espresso

I hope you'll join me on today's video there is so much more to share and many more still photos to inspire you.

Smashbook Pre-School Memories

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

If you have Grandkids then I'm sure this post is going to resonate with you.  When I first started playing around with my photos, back in 2003 or so I did so with Graphic programs like Paint Shop Pro and later moving up to Photoshop.  I did hundreds of digital layouts of my family, including the Grandkids of course.  Some were printed and framed many were turned into table top books for them. I even dedicated an entire blog to just digital pages - Reflections of NW Lady.
Once I started with paper and ink in 2009 the digital slowly got left behind along with my pages. Now that's a really sad thing to admit.  I take a LOT of photos and a great majority are photos of people, family, friends some strangers who just happened to pop up in a scenic one.

I bought a Smashbook from K and Co eons ago but it's sat, very forlornly, in my crafty space.  I'd pick it up and glance through the pages and then put it to rest again.  But something was brewing in my mind, do you have that happen?  An idea or project that just seems to blossom slowing in the grey matter?

Recently Cut at Home sent me a sampling of Marianne dies.  I was already familiar with her and her array of dies but was delighted to have more to play with.  If you aren't acquainted with her please do check her out at Cut at HomeIn among the ones I got was this darling typewriter.  That little seed that had been growing in my mind finally came to fruition with this first Smashbook page.

Brynnie is the youngest of my five Grandkids.  When I was home visiting this summer Brynnie had her Graduation from Pre-School.  I was there when this little one made her entrance into our world, such a miracle.  She knows Grandma and PaPa through Facetime and Skype so even though we're 1100 miles apart we're very close, for that I'm grateful.  I printed her out on my Canon IP8720  (thank you My Craft Chanel - I won it from them!!!) and then fussy cut this photo of her completely out of the background to make my own personalized embellishment.  If you are someone who adds photos to your projects and haven't done it please do.  It gives a whole new life to your photos and they seem to pop off the page without the background distractions.  I ran a black pen around the outside edges to eliminate any white showing and also around the printed saying on the page.

I've always loved writing so I'd already decided that all my pages would have some sort of tuck in or flap for personalized journaling of what this day meant to me and who's in it.

Come join me on the video, we'll walk through the products I used and I'll show the step-step process as well.  Be sure and check out the Cut at Home store not only for the Marianne dies but for a host of other scrappy goodness to fill your crafty spaces.

Tattered Lace Panorama Cards

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

Today I'll be sharing two cards completely different in looks but both made with Tattered Lace dies including the Panorama Concertina Dies to get this fabulous dimensional effect.  I've used white on white for the Christmas card with lots of glitter and lots of foam tape for sparkle and dimension.

For the second card I chose a completely different look for the same basic card construction using the vibrant colors from Graphic 45's World's Fair Collection.  Don't you love the depth the Tattered Lace Concertina dies give these cards?  I used the Tattered Lace Essential Circles dies to cut the apertures for the layers.  Wow what a great bargain this is, you get 19, yes 19 dies that graduate 1/8th" between sizes.  I think I need the rectangles, squares and ovals too!

You're going to love today's video because I'll share my struggles trying to get the first card right and the simplicity of assembly of the second card.  Both cards will be start to finish.  See you there!

Jump Start on my Christmas Cards

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

On today's video I'll share four cards designed with Spellbinders Holiday Holly Frame dies, Graphic 45's Christmas Carol collection and Sizzix Stripes Embossing folder.  Each of my cards are 5"x7" a little larger than my norm but the Holly Frame is larger and needs more room to show off it's gorgeous details.

For the card bases and the frame die cuts I used Spellbinders Celebra'tions Whirl White and Cuddle Cream cardstock.  This cardstock is fast becoming one of my favorites.  The finish is smooth and it handles score marks and folds like a dream.  I'd say add this to your crafty wish list for sure.

I found Snow-Tex from DecoArt at my local craft store and used it to add the look of snow to my cards.  I really think I like the Aleene's Glitter Snow better, it's easier, in my opinion, to work with.  I wasn't able to find it at this time of year locally and the Snow-Tex works it's just more fiddly.  I also used Frosted Lace Stickles to go over the printed snowflakes that are printed on the paper.  I did a lot of fussy cutting for these cards and added pieces of the cut aparts from the collection for sentiment spots or greeting spots on the inside.

If you have older collections be sure and check to see if any of the patterns match up to the new or if you can add any of the images.  I didn't want to cut the first page of the Christmas Carol collection up yet I loved the yellow snowflake dots on the red background that was on the back.  When I went pawing through my old collections I found this print in the Christmas Emporium collection and on the reverse side were these darling little girls.  I used the yellow snowflakes and red on the mat below and fussy cut girls on the reverse side of the paper for the inside above.  So nice to have things work together and Graphic 45 is wonderful about being able to interchange collections (based on color or design) from present and past collections.

Come and join me on today's video, I have four cards to share with you, one we will make together.  I'll walk through the other three with you and I'll share any tips I learned in the process with you. There are lots more photos to inspire you to get started on your Christmas card making too!

Dresser Drawer Boxes

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

Today I've got a wide assortment of inspiration for you all cut from Sizzix's new BIGZ XL die Box with Drawers.  I just love how different each looks from the change of papers and embellishments.

Each year I try to find something small and cute to make up for Christmas presents for my neighbors and I think I've found what I'll be making this year.  Here I've used Graphic 45's newest collection A Christmas Carol.  All I need now is to decide what sweet treats I'll fill each drawer with.

I like to have things on hands to give to friends as well and wouldn't this work well for a thank you or Happy Birthday?  Filling the drawers with some money for my teen aged Granddaughters wouldn't be a bad idea either.

The drawers measure a tad over 2 inches square x 3/4" high so in total the case is just shy of 3 1/2" .  You can use any paper collection to decorate the drawers inside and out and line the inner and outer case to hold them in.
With just bits and bobs of lace, bling, flowers and trinkets you're sure to have just what you need for the top as well.  I used Spellbinders Coredina'tions Celebrations Whirl White and Cuddle Cream for my base and drawers.

The possibilities are really endless with just a little imagination.   With these drawers I misted them with 3 of Tim Hotz's newest colors, Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber and Abandoned Coral, great color combos.

I hope you'll be inspired to make your own boxes real soon!

On today's video I'll share the tips and tricks I discovered while making my boxes, the sizes you'll need to cut to mat everything and loads more photos.  Thanks for joining me everyone.

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

Today I've used Heartfelt Creations Blazing Poppy paper and stamp collection along with Marianne Designs With Sympathy die to create my sympathy card.  This is a standard A2 card on Kraft cardstock.
Join me on today's video where I share a super trick to getting the raised, multi-colored looked to the die cut.

I stamped the poppies several times and then after coloring them with Tim Holtz Distress inks (on watercolor paper) I fussy cut and popped the layers one atop the other to give a real dimensional look to the front of the card.

Come join me on the video as I introduce you to Heartfelt Creations Blazing Poppy collection sharing the stamps, die and paper pad.  We'll also make the card start to finish.

Spellbinders Floral Gazebo Greeting Card

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

Today's project for Cut at Home features a new die set from Spellbinders Shapeabilites called Floral Gazebo, it's part of the Victorian collection.  You get seven dies including the gazebo, vines, flowers, heart and bird.  I've made a standard A2 sized card on white card stock.
Along with the Spellbinders dies I chose papers from Graphic 45's Gilded Lily and sentiments from Heartfelt Creations Blazing Poppy.  All the mats were torn to reveal the white core of the paper and give a nice framework.

Come join me on the video and we'll create the card together and perhaps I'll share a few other tips I use that you've not tried yet.  For links to the supplies used from the store please check out the Cut at Home Blog
