True "DREAMS" of Glitter

Hi everyone!
True :D here.
Today I get to share a project that I created for a CHA sample for another of my design teams.
It is an 8" x 8" canvas created with papers, flowers, glitter, and glam.

Glamming up chipboard words is a cinch. Simply brush on some Designer Dries Clear adhesive, sprinkle with your favorite glitter, (I used  #236 Clementine ultra-fine transparent) then gently rub in with your finger.
I also used #297 Hibiscus ultra-fine transparent on the butterfly.

Other Supplies:
Want2Scrap - LeCreme Finesse Swirls, Peach Pearls, "Dreams" chipboard
Graphic 45 - Le Romantique "Loves Labyrinth"
Spellbinders - Wonderful Wings
Really Reasonable Ribbon - Moss Swirl Ribbon
Also: vintage book pages, drywall fabric, mulberry roses, Glimmer mist, distress inks, leaf punches, Mod Podge, 8" x8" canvas board,

Thanks so much for taking a closer look!
I would love to know what you think about my canvas. :)

Title: Glittered Canvas Tote by Carrie Hannegan

We all have a canvas tote bag or shopping bag laying around. Why not add some glitter to make it stand out? :)

Today, I'm going to take a plain canvas tote and glitter it up with a floral print.
Here is the tote before anything was added. If you need to purchase one, I happen to have them for sale right here on my website!

This is what you'll need:
  1. One canvas tote bag
  2. 1 piece of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock or thick paper
  3. Black acrylic paint
  4. A white chalk pencil and a regular pencil
  5. Fabric glue - I used Dries Clear fabric adhesive from Art Institute
  6. Art Institute Glitter - #89 Martini Ultrafine Transparent Glitter
  7. Art Institute Glitter - #358 Jungle Green Ultrafine Opaque Glitter
  8. Art Institute Glitter - #358 Cavalado Green Ultrafine Opaque Glitter
  9. Art Institute Glitter - #270 Chesapeake Blue Ultrafine Transparent Glitter
  10. Art Institute Glitter - #24 Royal Wink Ultrafine Opaque Glitter
  11. Art Institute Glitter - #322 Paris purple Ultrafine Transparent Glitter
  12. Art Institute Glitter - #130 Eclipse purple Ultrafine Opaque Hologram Glitter
  13. Art Institute Glitter - #77 Pewter gray Ultrafine Opaque Glitter
  14. Art Institute Glitter - #D10 Gypsy purple Dazzlers Glitter
  15. Art Institute Glitter - #141 Magnolia Pink Ultrafine Transparent Glitter
  16. Art Institute Glitter - #806 Sonata Small Glass Beads
First, I put a piece of thick paper inside the tote, so when I painted it or put glue on it, it wouldn't bleed through to the other side.

I then painted a black square in the front. That way, the glitter will have a dark background and light background to make it pop and give it an interesting focal point. Notice my little color palette and flower design note clothes pinned to the side of the bag.

Then, I used a chalk pencil and a regular pencil to sketch out a general outline of my flowers.

I then started glittering up a storm!

And here is the final piece...

A simple boring tote bag no more! It's even prettier in person... it catches the light and really sparkles and has a lot of vivid color. Use this bag at the grocery store and not only will it make food shopping more exciting, you'll totally brighten the bagger's day ;)

Thanks for taking a look at this project and take a look at my blog!

Word has it we’re doing a blog hop with Art Glitter, Graphic45, Want2Scrap and Clearsnap later this month. I’ve been working on the project for this since June and I really feel it’s coming along very nicely.

I won’t give any secrets away but I will share a small portion of it with you today.

I started with this Globecraft Memories Ornament pack. I always thought they’d be wonderful with clip-art displayed in them and they offer a chance to get dimensional and I’m all about dimension! I had no idea where this would go but I just dove right in.

I got out my Art Glitter bins and searched for a glitter that would allow light to show through and give a Christmas feel; I was going to use this on the back half of the globe. Art Glitter Confection Dazzlers D29 fit the bill perfectly!

I painted the inside of the globe with clear drying glue (DDG would work great!). Working quickly (before the glue dries), I sprinkled Dazzlers over the inside of the entire globe then tipped the access into a catcher tray - perfect!

I cut a Santa from the Christmas Past Tag Sheet of the Graphic45 Christmas Past Collection. I added some Glossy Accents to his face and hands to create dimension and bring him to life. The Glossy Accents must be thoroughly dry before proceeding to the glittering technique.

Art Glitter was also used to highlight areas of his clothing and greenery. I love to use Art Glitter as a means to paint, adding color and dimension. It’s so easy to achieve this look. I squirt out Designer Dries Clear onto a non-stick craft sheet and use a very small paint brush to paint on the glue. Then sprinkle a little of Art Glitter on those areas. Be sure to do one color at a time so your Glitter does not get contaminated. It’s such an easy technique and the more you do it the quicker you will become. I used Art Glitter Ruby Red Microfine Opaque, Lead Ultra Fine Opaque and Martian Ultrafine Opaque Hologram on Santa (using two shades of green creates contrast and dimension).

I then added a gold bell with DDG to the tip of his hat!

Once the Dazzlers on the globe are dry, add spots of DDG here-and-there on the lower half and gently press in some dried moss. The moss helps to suspend the Santa paper art. Print a Christmas-style phrase on white cardstock and cut it out so it’s a little longer than the globe is wide (so it will remain curved instead of flat). Run a very thin line of DDG on all four edges of the phrase and dip into Art Glitter Crystal Ultrafine Transparent (I like to dump the glitter into a catcher tray and dip my phrase); let dry.

Add some thin lines of DDG to the lower back of Santa and gently press him into the moss; hold in place briefly.

Add the phrase by drawing a thin line of DDG on the globe just inside the curved rim and place one end of the phrase into it. Draw another thin line of DDG on the opposite side of the globe, slightly higher or lower than the other side, curve it slightly and gently press that end into the DDG; hold briefly till set. Santa should be looking pretty cool about now!

Emboss, paint or glitter the globe frames in any fashion you want. I opted to paint mine – gold on the outer rim and black on the inner for contrast. To assemble the ornament, I start by running a thin line of DDG on the flat outer rim of the bottom globe, place the inner ring (black one) on top; clip with clothespins or binder clips for a minute or two till glue is set.

Make sure the top globe (very plain and empty) is totally clean on the inside. Once it’s glued together there are no opportunities for cleaning! Run a thin line of DDG around the flat lip of the remaining globe and sit it on the inner ring; clamp as before.

Add the outer rings by running a thin line of DDG near the outer and inner edges, set over the globe rims and clamp as before.

This completes the ornament. It can be enhanced with pretty ribbons, beads, charms or more ART GLITTER. I’ll show you how I used mine during the blog hop at the end of the month!

Hop on over to my blog to see what else I’ve been up to!

Happy Creating...
Linda

Today I made a giant clothespin using some very awesome products!

Product List:

Giant Wooden Clothespin (purchased at a local scrapbook store)

I started by tracing the clothespin around the paper and cut strips to fit on it. I glued them on using Designer Dries Clear, and let them dry. I then used the Sleek Strip Rhinestones and cut them down to seven stones, and made two strips on each side of the clothespin.

I finished it by adding glitter to all the exposed wood left that I didn’t cover with paper. Super simple, and a super fun way to dress up a desk!

Christmas In July with KC

Christmas in July?!  You bet!  When I get a goodies from Art Glitter, Graphics 45 and Want 2 Scrap to play with...it is definitely like Christmas for me!!

To make this ornament you will need:  1 paper mache heart ornament, Acrylic paint - pearl, brown distressed ink, 1" double faced tape, 1/4" double faced tape, lace ribbon/trim, Art Glitter - Ultrafine Transparent - #86 Angel Dust & Ultrafine Opaque - #139 Leather, Graphics 45 green holly ('Tis the Season) paper from the Christmas Emporium Collection, 3/4" red ribbon, 1/8" gold ribbon, Swirls Finesse - Brown from Want 2 Scrap, Art Glitter Designer Dries Clear Adhesive.
Paint the heart with pearl/metallic acrylic paint and antique with brown distressed ink.

Run two strips of 1" double faced (red line) tape from the top edge to the bottom edge.  Burnish with your finger to make sure the tape lies flat and secure to the curve of the heart.

Remove the red plastic from the tape and lay lace trim so that the outer edge of the trim runs along the outer edge of the tape.  The middle section will eventually be covered up so if the lace doesn't match up to the edge of the tape, don't worry about it.

Shake "Leather" Art Glitter onto the exposed tape.  Tap and brush off excess glitter.

Carefully remove the lace.

Cover the exposed tape surface with "Angel Dust" Art Glitter.  Tap and brush off the excess.

Cut a strip of the green holly paper about 1 1/4" wide.  Trim the edges with decorative trim scissors (paper shapers)  Lay the paper onto the heart and trim a "V" at the top and bottom to match the contour of the heart.  Set aside for a minute

Run a line of Designer Dries Clear Adhesive (DDCA) down the inside edge of the tape/glitter and place red ribbon so the the two pieces meet in the middle.  Don't worry about trimming the ends yet.

Run more DDCA down the center of the ribbon and adhere the strip of holly paper.  Once this is dry, trim the paper and ribbon along the top and bottom edge of the heart.
Run a strip of 1/4" double face tape around the outer edge of the heart.  Place the end of the red ribbon at the top center, next to the hanging string, and work in an accordion fashion to create ribbon ripples around the heart.  Stop at the bottom tip and trim the ribbon.  Repeat on the other side.

Run another strip of 1/4" tape along the top of the ribbon ripples to "gather" ruffles.  Lay 1/8" gold ribbon down the center of this tape and cover the remaining exposed tape with "Angel Dust" Art Glitter.

Finish by positioning Want 2 Scrap rhinestone flourish to the face of the ornament.  Trim the flourish as desired to fit.

Be sure to check back often this month to see all of the wonderful projects the design team will be presenting with these awesome products.  AND...check out the sales at artglitter.com:  CELEBRATE USA FREE SHIPPING IN JULY! We are celebrating our great country's birthday all July with FREE SHIPPING on any standard retail shipping order of $50 or more*
