Dolphin

This is another thing I made in ceramics. Since I had only just gotten to fire the clay piece before the semester ended, I brought it home, painted it and put a coat of polycrylic on it(to make it shiny!:D) It was supposed to be a whistle but it didn't work. :( So I made it a paper weight. I gave it to Mary for Christmas because she liked it so much.

Jewelry Box

This is an extra credit piece I made in Ceramics. Doing each of those stars took up a lot of time, but it was worth it in the end. I gave this to Catie for Christmas.

House

This is a slab piece I made in my Ceramics class. The roof comes off and a candle can be put inside. I was hoping that the smoke would come out the chimney but it didn't work. :( The brown pieces on the back are logs. I figured that if the house would be lit by firelight it needed firewood.:)

Gingerbread Man Platter

Another project from Ceramics. It was a drape slab, which means that I draped a slab over a coil and pressed it in to form the dip. I had to make this one pretty fast so I chose a simple design. And my mom wanted a gingerbread man cookie platter.:)

Coil 2

Another coil pot from Ceramics. This one was smoothed on the inside so that the coils could be seen. I used a really light glaze so that I didn't kill my coils.

Coil 1

This is a coil pot I made in Ceramics. I used a stone texture glaze that I think looks pretty cool.

Hercinia

Sorry for the inactivity- I've had a lot of homework. Anyway this is a bird from German mythology.
The Hercinia bird comes from the Hercynian Forest, in Germany. Their feathers glow so brightly that they light the paths through the dense forest.I did this picture in GIMP, a program similar to Photoshop. I used a softglow and lighting feature to make the bird glow. To do shading and highlights I used the dodge and burn tool. I really like how this turned out. Especially because I'm so inexperienced with computer programs. :)
