Christmas Candy

Between stockings at our house and stockings at my mom's we ended up with a ton of candy. Its like Halloween all over again! Everyday after lunch I let Savannah pick on piece of candy (usually a Reese, I think because it is the biggest). Yesterday she choose a Reese and devoured it faster than I could get my own piece of candy opened. Once she had finished hers she climbed up in my lap and tried to eat mine. I told her, "No, you already had one. Remember Mommy said one." She looked at me very disappointed and then her face lit up like a light bulb had gone off. "Mommy, two!" She said. She was so proud of herself! I died laughing. She's getting too stinkin' smart.

Sad really...

I decided to write in my journal today because I haven't done it in a long, LONG time. Last entry was from June 24th! As I was writing I caught myself wanted to write things like 'lol' and 'jk'. Pathetic really! And so my resolution for this year is to cut those out of my vocabulary and to expand my vocabulary! (Even cut them out of text messaging!) Sad how how the technology seems to increase while our knowledge seems to decrease!! For example, I realized the other day that I really don't know how to get to very many places...mostly because I just plug it into my GPS and then follow it. Half the time I don't even know how I got to a place or how to get back because I rely so heavily on my GPS.

ON a completely other topic, I am now in my 21st week of this pregnancy and have 136 days left till Due day :). VERY excited. And we find out if it's a boy or girl on Jan 6th.

Chris had a Dr appointment yesterday. (he had a CTscan on Friday). The dr found no tears or anything. It looks like it is indeed just arthritis :( Which the doctor proceeded to tell Chris there was nothing he could do for him yet (not until he is older). And that he was just going to have to live with the pain. Chris obviously was not very happy about this. He also will not be able to be medically released and so...at this point the plan is to stay in Houston, he will continue to go to school for Biology and when he is done with his bachelors we will move on to Med school. Until med school he will continue working as a police officer. I have very mixed emotions about this. I almost feel relieved we are staying (mostly because of the pregnancy and not having to worry about insurance, finding a new dr, and trying to move when VERY pregnant), but at the same time I am sad for Chris because I know how badly he wanted to go back to BYUI and I am sad I wont be able to graduate in April. But! I only have 4 classes left, I will take 2 of them next semester and then the last two I will take as soon as they are available :) I will finish one of these days.
Chris also talked to his Lieutenant last night about what was going on. His Lt. basically told him to take an easy and not try to do as much during his shift (which Chris HATES that idea) and that maybe it would be a good idea for them to put him with a partner for his own safety. One because it will force him to slow down because no one works as hard as Chris (his stats show that and everyone at the station knows it, he does about 3 times the amount of work as the other officers). And two because Chris's knee hurts to the point that he chased after our dog 100 yards the other day caused him to limp the rest of the day :(
In May Chris will have the opportunity to switch his position (he was locked into his first station and patrol for a year). He is going to try to get on with Juvenile Sex Crimes as an investigator, this will allow him more time for school work and won't be as hard on his knee. I just worry because I know how much he likes coming home and telling me stories from his day, not sure I want to hear about the sex crimes...at least right now most of the stories are just about the funny things the drunk guys do. Like the drunk guy that they thought spoke Spanish, but didn't respond when they tried talking to him in 2 different languages and finally looked at the officers and in perfect English said "What the F__ are you saying!"
As Chris was talking to his Lt about the possibilities of switching to that division he expressed his concern that he had heard that a lot of the divisions wouldn't take new officers, they wanted officers that had been on at least 3 or 4 years. The Lt told him to shut up! That any of them would take him because of his stats and how hard he worked and that if that's where he wanted to go he (the lt) would personally make sure that he got a spot. Chris asked how he was going to do that and the Lt. told him that he knew a few guys over there and that the Captain also knew how hard Chris worked and would probably be willing to help him out too. Its nice that Chris has such a good reputation! :)

Mama, Roo and Pooh Bear

Savannah gets SOOOO into her tv shows! She asks to watch a show every morning right after breakfast. Which works well for me because I can get some school work done! She usually wants to watch Pooh Bear or Caillou. This morning she asked for Pooh Bear, so I turned it on and got my school out. I walked in front of the tv with my books just as Pooh was being chased by the bees Savannah quickly leaned over to the left to try to see around me as she yelled "MOM!" Pooh Bear is VERY intense! She gets SO into it, there's a part where Tigger is sad and Savannah always says "Aw, you sad?". Today she even propped her stuffed monkey on the couch next to her to watch the show. When she put him on the couch she was hooked on the tv and sat him down facing the back of the couch. A few minutes later looked over and realized he couldn't see the tv, "OH!" she said as she quickly fixed the problem.

Kanga is probably one of her favorite characters, but she calls her "Mama" just like Roo. When Kanga calls Roo into the house, Roo says "In a minute Mama" and Savannah said "inside" in a sweet little coaxing voice! Her commentary cracks me up!

Thanksgiving!

Savannah LOVES to help! She helped me make the pies :) Her favorite thing to do is help hold the mixer while mixing the ingredients.
We made cookies at my mom's house one time with her kitchenaid Savannah thought it was pretty cool that she could flip the switch and make it mix all by herself.

Sometimes, she is TOO much help. Cookies are a problem, she literally shoves handfuls of dough in her mouth. She's quick and hard to stop sometimes. So she got booted to the floor...
Where she happily colored in her little pony's coloring book...at least for a while.

This thanksgiving feast included:
Sweet potato casserole
Turkey
Stuffing
Squish casserole
Homemade Rolls
Turkey Burritos (All Chris!)
can't remember the other foods...

but for dessert we had:
Oreo Cheesecake (my fav)
Pomengrate Cheesecake (All Chris!)
Pumpkin pie
Chocolate pie
