In my never ending quest to obtain a dog of my own... I am in full support of this project. I introduce to you "Maddie on Things- a super serious project about dogs and physics"

Dogtown Fonts
This is right up my alley. Fonts AND dogs!! (I know. You don't have to tell me. I'm a geek).

Puppy Bowls
Y'all know I don't have a dog. Sadly I live in an apt that doesn't allow pets. I am counting down the days (even though it may be years away) when I'll be able to have a little buddy of my own to take on walks and bring to the studio with me. When I do get one, these modern bowls by Doca Pet seem pretty awesome (although a tad pricey).

Hipster Puppies
So I thought this post chronicling the blog unhappy hipsters was pretty funny. Then Alex told me about this blog that sardonically writes about hipster puppies. Hilarious and adorable I say. See for yourself:
"Don’t use the term “world music” around Thurston unless you want a 20 minute lecture"
"Falcor begrudgingly explained to his mom that wearing girl’s jeans doesn’t make him gay"
"Lola got booted from the kickball team after just showing up every week and drinking"
"Perry could have easily informed the waiter that his order was wrong, but has decided to just write a bad yelp review instead"
"Punky figured his student loan money would be better spent on a vintage cr78 drum machine he found on ebay"
"Isis mae only took her top off because, hey, when’s the next time she’ll meet terry richardson?" (fittting in light of my earlier post)
"Hugo asks you to please be careful, that’s a first edition nabokov"

Time out
So I sent a link to this blog asking Alex when I get to have a puppy.
He said maybe when we get a fireplace we can get a dog. He drives a hard bargain...
By the way, how adorable is pup Kingsley's mom aka Naomi? I mean her clothes in all these pictures are so happy, even in the snow. I've never lived in the snow but I'm pretty sure if I did I would be so bundled up you wouldn't be able to see any skin. And that lipstick! I have long had an aversion to lipstick but this is making me reconsider things. See more of Naomi's adorableness over at Rockstar Diaries

Puppy Bowl
So my favorite part of Super Bowl Sunday is a little different from Alex's favorite part... The Puppy Bowl. It doesn't need much explanation. It's a bunch of puppies running around a faux football field playing. There are teams, a referee, a water bowl camera, a kitten half time show. Way better than the real thing if you ask me.

Sharon Montrose
I've been a fan of Sharon's work for a while and I just about fell out of my chair when I saw that she has an entire book devoted to frenchies. I can't even handle the vintage scale, chubby pup, and chalk board combo.
On another note, how cute would it be to decorate a child's room with these amazing pictures of baby animals. I'm just saying...

Dead Man's Bones
I don't know what I'm doing for Halloween yet... but seeing Dead Man's Bones at the Echoplex could be a ghoulish fun time. If you don't know, Dead Man's Bones is the musical creation of Ryan Gosling (sigh) and Zach Shields (Rachel McAdams' little sister's boyfriend). According to the LA Weekly's haiku review they are

The Brain
Are you kidding me???? Uber-fancy garage as setting to work out ideas??? Fire pole??? Doggie window??? So awesome! The Brain is a 14,280 cubic-foot cinematic laboratory where the client, a filmmaker, can work out ideas. Physically, that neighborhood birthplace of invention, the garage, provides the conceptual model. The form is essentially a cast-in-place concrete box, intended to be a strong yet neutral background that provides complete flexibility to adapt the space at will. Inserted into the box along the north wall is a steel mezzanine.

You're killing me smalls
Apparently there is a whole website devoted to all dogs small. Not really my cup of tea. I grew up with boxers so I like my dogs big and bulky (they look tough but really they sit on your lap like any other dog... only it hurts). I'm desperate to get a dog although it's not really amenable with apartment dwelling. So to strike a compromise, I've started to really like French Bulldogs (this was way before they were the 'it' dog. I've been into Frenchies for years now). They've got lots of personality and a bit of swagger. Frenchie + Panda = too much
