He's Just A Solid Kid!

This morning I took Henry in for his 15 month check-up, even though he's only 14 months old. We're a little late for his 1 year check-up, so I guess the doctor's office rounded up. Whatever, it works. :-) Poor baby had to get some shots. I hate shots. Of course, I don't like horrid diseases either, so a necessary evil. Henry screamed and cried and since he is so strong, I had to hold his upper body down while the nurse held his legs between her legs. This little boy is STRONG. He tried to grab the needles away from the nurse. Crazy. Oh I felt so badly for him afterward. And he's been much less active today and cries when anyone or anything touches one of his legs. :-( Ugh. Kenyon came to the doctor's with me for moral support (I just hate doing this alone) and afterward he said, "That was WAY worse than I thought it would be. Daddy has to do it next time." I completely agree.

Anyhoo, Henry is a little tank. He is in the 98th percentile for height, the 99th percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for head circumference. And that is based off of other 15 month olds--not 14 month olds. Our doctor, who LOVES Henry and always says that Henry will be famous someday, kept saying, "He's just a solid kid!"

While we were waiting for the doctor to come into our room, Henry kept escaping out the door and running down the hall. I literally had to run after him to catch him. He is sneaky and fast. :-) I love my baby SO much! He brings me so much joy!

I finished painting the little girls' room yesterday. I stained their new bunk bed today. Like a doofus, I stained it indoors! Oh boy was our house ever stinky and we were all getting headaches and had to leave the house with the windows open. Tim took Sahara to a friend's house and went on to the library. I took the rest of the kids with me to return some stuff at Walmart and then we met up with Tim and the library to hang out for a little while.

When we returned home, I made homemade blueberry muffins with some delicious, fresh blueberries. I also made zucchini bread with some zucchini we got from a local farmer's market. Bethlehem cooked up some corn on the cob, also from the farmer's market, on the grill. I sauteed the leftover zucchini with an onion and we also ate some cantaloupe (also from the farmer's market) and some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies I had made yesterday. Yummy! It was a delicious dinner.

Well, tomorrow is the big day of moving the bedrooms around. We have to get it finished because Kenyon will head off to scout camp and join up with Ryland, who is already there. I need as many helpers as I can get. ;-) The little girls are super excited and cannot wait to have a big, new room that they can all share together.

I'll post photos when I am all done and also get back to sharing the rest of our June and July photos. This weekend is Ryland's 14th birthday(!), so I will have some more birthday photos to share, too (I still need to share Esther's and Talley's bday pics). There is never enough time to do all I want to do, but I suppose that is just life.

Random June 2012 Photos

Before I work on anymore of my July photos, I thought it would be best if I went back and added photos from June that I hadn't gotten to yet. So here they are:

Claire making messages with her Cheez-its.

Henry

Beautiful Bethlehem ... who hates having her photo taken. :-)

The kids love having friends over to play.

Ezra loves to read.

Kenyon wearing his eye patch to correct/strengthen his "lazy eye". He is not a big fan of the patch. Luckily for him, his eye doctor gave him a year-long break. We'll check things out again next summer! (His vision has improved though, so it was worth it.)

Talley with my friend's daughter, Sisi. Beth and I braided Sisi's hair exactly like Talley's.

More to come ...

Basement

We're working on organizing our basement and turning it into a great place. Here are some random photos in our basement.

Photos of our "cold storage" room where we intend to put canned goods and other stocked-up on items. It's a work in progress.

And the following photos are of the little kids painting and playing in the basement.

Schoolroom

I used to homeschool our children. And I loved it. It was actually very difficult for me to put them into public school last year, but it was absolutely the right thing. We were lucky enough (blessed!) to get six of our kids into a local charter school, which is an amazing thing. We love our new school and look forward to many wonderful years there for our kiddos (Beth and Sahara are at our local high school). Because we were a homeschooling family for many years, we have a LOT of school supplies. The kids still love to do things in our schoolroom. We used to have the schoolroom in a big room on our main level, but since the three little girls want to share a room with each other, we decided to move the schoolroom into the basement. It is near our toy room, so it works out well. The kids enjoy going in the basement to play, read, color, paint, do play-doh, play games, etc. etc. I like that the mess is all in the basement and out of sight. :-) Here are some photos of the new schoolroom location.

Early One Morning

Early one morning, I took some photos of my precious baby boy while we played on my bed. Isn't Henry adorable?
