Kid Sayings

My kids crack me up. Here are a few funnies that were recently said:

A conversation at breakfast:

Ezra had a toy C3PO and was pretending to feed it. Ryland said, "Um, Ezra, robots don't eat." Ezra continues to pretend and says, "C3PO does." Ryland, "No Ezra, robots do not eat." Ezra, "C3PO can." Ryland, "Robots cannot eat because they do not have digestive systems." ;-)

Kenyon was talking to me about how strong Henry is and then he said, "When I first came to the hospital and saw Henry, he grabbed my finger and had a really tight grip. I said to him, 'Where does all of this strength come from little fella?'" (Loved this!)

We were talking in the van about when Jesus comes again. Claire said how happy she will feel when he finally comes again. I agreed and said that Jesus would make everything OK. And Talley said, "I just can't wait until he comes again, because then I can ride on a peacock's back!" Kenyon said, "Technically you could ride on a peacock's back right now, Talley." Talley said, "No I can't. They'd be mean and try to hurt me now, but when Jesus comes again, they will be nice and let me get on their backs."

In the mornings Talley likes to come into my room and play with Henry. I use that time to brush my teeth, get dressed, check email, etc. This morning I overheard Talley (6.5) say to Henry (1), "Everybody has eyelashes." ;-) She went on to describe various types of eyelashes to Henry, "Some people have short eyelashes. Some people have long eyelashes. Some people have fake eyelashes!" That girl! ;-)

And here is one of my facebook status updates from Monday night (June 25th):

Favorite moments at our family talent show tonight included: Ryland doing a scene from Mall Cop (Pahud's first conversation with Paul Blart) wherein in he walked into the family room with just his pajama bottoms on and said, "Feeling alive?", Claire singing 'Rolling in the Deep' a capella (sp?) and sounding absolutely amazing for an 8 year old, and Ezra saying, "My talent is breathing like Darth Vader. OK, no one laugh at me or look at me and I will breathe like Darth Vader." And then he did. And we all busted up laughing. I love my amazing family.

Life is crazy-busy right now. The kids are out for summer, but with some kids in summer school, some kids doing cross-country, church activities, hanging out with friends, etc. we have been go go go.

We have great things to look forward to. My nephew is getting married on Saturday and next week is the 4th of July, hosted at our house for both sides of our families. Fun times.

More soon. And lots of photos to share, too.

Esther's Hair

I finally finished Esther's twists on Saturday. Doesn't she look adorable? There are also a few photos of me doing her hair (with Henry "helping" me).

Hair!

This week has been hair week at our house. On Tuesday, Sahara went and got about 10 inches cut off of her hair. And all this week Bethlehem and I have been braiding Esther, Claire and Talley's hair. I am still not finished with Esther's hair, but hope to get that done tomorrow. Beth and I also started a little side "business" of braiding hair for other people. On Monday Beth braided a teenage boy's hair into cornrows. And today she and I braided my friend's daughter's hair (it took us 6 hours working together to get it done--she ended up with the exact same hairstyle as Talley has). Phew! But, hair is a very big deal around here and we like to have nice, fun hairstyles.

Hugs

Ryland has a problem with playing with balls inside the house. It doesn't matter what kind of ball it is, he will start spinning it on his fingers, tossing it around, etc. It drives me nuts. He is always knocking things over, hitting things, and the other day he broke a picture frame. I decided that whenever I saw him with a ball indoors, I would charge him $1. He does not like this. And I can't wait until he has a ball indoors again. ;-) I was instructing the other kids that if they saw him playing with a ball inside to let me know. Kenyon said, "How about whoever sees him with the ball gets the dollar?" I said no, because that would mean Kenyon got all of the money. He and Ryland are always together. So then Talley says, "How about you take us to the movie theaters if we see Ryland with a ball?" I laughed and declined that offer as well, since we'd be there several times a day. I said, "If you see Ryland with a ball, I will give you a great big hug." Ezra immediately and very seriously said, "And that is the greatest gift of all!" And I cracked up laughing. My kids are hilarious.

Eyelashes

Henry & Tyreke

OK, one last post for today. I will try and get to Esther's birthday photos and the parade photos in the next couple of days. These pictures are of Henry with his baby, Tyreke. Henry loves to kiss Tyreke, or throw him on the floor and sit on him, or bite him, or stroke his hair, or what have you. Tyreke just gets a whole lot of tough love from Henry. Last week I took these photos of him playing with Tyreke on his favorite little bench.

Genesis BBQ

Oh my goodness. I was trying to keep up with my blogging and photo sharing and have gotten behind again. I made a valiant effort to post last night, but after a couple of posts, I couldn't do anymore. I was too tired. Part of the problem is I don't know when to stop taking photos. I always have way too many to share. I also have a hard time whittling them down to only a handful. This next batch of photos is from the Genesis BBQ we went to on June 2nd. I took almost 100 photos. Here are the ones I am sharing (we had a blast, by the way):

Henry was gettin' down to the music and everyone thought it was adorable! He loves to dance.
