first things first
okay, well it's Sunday evening and I wanted to make one last entry before we left on our vacation. Here's a few things that happened this week. This cute little puppy is Ziggy. He's our neighbors new dog. A dayafter getting him they left on a little trip for 3 days and we watched him. He was more work than a child. He was into everything and you couldn't distract him with a movie. Luckily our dog Lucas found him entertaining and they got along well. I took a photo of the kids with their new Boston hats that Grandma brought back from her visit there. The last picture was Dirk's project of the month. The goal was to finish it before we left. He almost made it. He still has to make a door and paint the trim. I have to say how proud I am of him, this was a bit of a puzzle for him. He made it from scratch using the space we had. It is L-shaped. He had the vision and built it. He did a great job and it looks good too. Although, we'll have to wait until winter to see how it holds up to the elements! Finally, I have been constantly making a list of all the things I need to do before we left. There were many arrangements to be made and letters to write. I think I finally finished everything that I needed to do. Of course, in doing these things I couldn't help but get a bit emotional in the thought of leaving my children for so long. As a Mom, my mind goes crazy with what if's and then flying, that brings a whole new element of worry. I just have to let all go. I have wonderful friends and family that have so graciously offered their help to me and my children while we are gone and I am ever so grateful. I'm dedicating this song (For Good from the musical Wicked) that's playing, to all my friends both old and new. I'm so excited that we will make a detour to NYC to see Wicked. I love the words of this song and it just epitomizes my feelings right now. I have met so many talented, creative, faithful, wonderful women over the years and so much of what I do and who I am is because of what I have gleaned from them. So I thank you friends for sharing yourselves with me. Don't mean to get sappy, it's just the hour and the circumstance. Like I said, just feeling emotional right now. Well, we will be leaving pretty early, not sure I'll even sleep tonight. I hope to have lots of pictures to share when we get back. See ya' in 3 weeks!

Wednesday
I'm finally taking the time to update my blog. Although, nothing much is happening. I've been trying to get ready for our trip. My wonderful mom is taking me and my hubby to Sweden. My mom is originally from there, she came to the States when she was about 21 (I think) as an Au Pair. She was only suppose to be here a year but met my dad and stayed in America. After 40+ years she is finally in the process of becoming an American Citizen. I have been to Sweden twice. Once as a baby, and the second time when I was 11. I hope to remember a lot more this time. There are two things that still stands out in my memory one was when my cousin took me to the beach. As we are walking along the shore, she sees two of her friends coming out of the water. I assumed they were boys wearing speedos but on closer inspection I realized that they were girls going topless! It was literally quite the eye opener for me. The second thing I remember was Midsummer. Midsummer is a celebration of summer solstice. It is the longest day of the year and gets dark for only a couple hours. There is a Maypole and dancing and games. I remember playing in someone's barn that was practically filled with hay. We played in there and stayed up all night long and watched the sun come up. Everytime I smell hay I am reminded of that night. Anyway, I am very excited but also getting very nervous. We have never left our children for so long and I'm starting to have some quilt setting in. Because nothing is simple, we have 3 different people watching our children while we are gone. So I am making a binder of information to leave for them to help them out. I have a check list that I made and it seems everytime I check something off I add 2 more. Oh, well, I have a week and half to get everything together. Rosie, I know you went to Germany last year so if you have any advice for me let me know. =)
On top of getting ready for the trip I have to get Mr. E and Princess ready to start school on Monday. FYI if you shop at Walmart you can get one subject notebooks on sale for $.5 although if you are on a tradtional school year they probably haven't started putting out school supplies yet. Another great place to get great deals on school supplies is Staples. They will have pencils or pocket folders for a penny.
Well, it's late as usual, so I'm signing off now. Hopefully, I will be able to post again before we leave.
Thanks for stopping by.

Troubleshooting
Ok, blogger friends. I just added a new post today and I noticed that some of my page elements are missing from my page. They are still on my dashboard so I know that I haven't deleted them but when I go to view my page they are not there. Also, I can't seem to get rid of that darn screwdriver and wrench icon. Do you see that too? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Happy 4th of July
Our 4th of July started out with the annual Run4Independence. This was my 2nd year running it. It's a great run because it's local and supports our city food bank. The weather was perfect and the shirts were cute this year. (last year was way too hot but the shirts weren't) I finished at 57:19 (10k) which was a 9:15 mile. That's about 5 min. faster than last year. BTW, I got beat by a 9 year old! So here's me with my serious running face on, this was right before the finish line and then with my tired running face right after with my friend, her daughter and her friend, the girls did the 5K.
Picked up Liv from girls camp. She had a fabulous time. She came home with fun stories and and a new appreciation for her bed. All the girls got a really cute leopard print fuzzy blanket that went with their theme. "It's a Jungle out there." I'll take a picture of that later.
The afternoon was spent with friends swimming, eating and watching fireworks. It was great day.
